But it wasn’t done to out-wit Roy, Charles TRULY found it hysterical. We’re talking about a guy who drinks his brothers egg nog made with lighter fluid, snorts snow, as well as nasal spray in place of real drugs. He found it legitimately hilarious.

@@MegaSammy70 There's a significant degree of truth to that, but it's mostly reversed cause-and-effect: The guys who women are the most physically attracted to tend to end up becoming pompous/jerks, because they can get away with it and still have the girls come to them. Put more succinctly and generally, "power corrupts". Same with attractive girls.

I can't say how many time I've watched this film from start to finish...it's around 20 though easily. I love it now as I loved it as an 11 year old kid when it came to the video stores....I believe that this film remains one of the most off-the-wall greatest comedies of all time...great, hilarious characters go through a very routine 1980's rom/com script but this one is heads and tails above all the rest!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!

the 80s were absolutely awesome. It was the outlandish and often garish clothing and hair styles that made it so memorable. If you weren't part of that generation, you'll just never get it.

I seriously don't know how John Cusack didn't laugh at this scene, not even crack a smile... obviously the laugh of Charles De Mar was set up, but expressed-ad-libbed by the hilarious Curtis Armstrong. And I know John Cusack is naturally quiet, but I wouldn't have been able to not break a smile with Charles ha. Pro actors Curtis and Cusack. :)
This scene cements Better Off Dead as a low key sequel to Valley Girl where Julie’s hot friend is a singer in a rock bank after HS.

Tommy Pickles is an amazing singer.
One of the higher on the list of great songs that were in 80s movies but otherwise had no commercial or radio success. Real Genius had a couple that got overshadowed by Tears For Fears.
This ironic beth is the girl that comes out in nightmare on elm Street in the opening sceen. The guy behind her is wearing a black and red stripe sweater the same sweater that Freddy wears in nightmare on elm street.
E.G Daily looks way hot too. I would buy that for 2 dollars.
