thank goodness common sense prevails i’m 78 years old. fished there since i was 15 i took my children and my grand children there to enjoy the location in these changing modern times with so many restrictions i was devastated to see the gates locked for whatever reason s given we arrived in Australia in 1952 as a family of greek immigrants and found for most of my lifetime Australian to be the most freest place to live slowly due to so many out of touch under whatever banner people minorities by the way trying to take it away from the ordinary people once again great news
Cheers mate, it is stories like this one which makes us all realise why it is so important to keep places like the South Mole freely accessible for generations to come. Thanks for sharing mate!
Stop it with the "freedom being taken away from the ordinary people once again" and "minorities" bullshit rhetoric. You are in Australia; respect our culture. Illegal campers (considering you are Greek, ironically they were European backpackers), anti-social activity, and vandalism were the cause of the closure. And rightfully so - it was incredibly dangerous for any family wanting to enjoy a spot of fishing, especially at night with the 'raves' that were happening. Glad the Port Authority has been able to repair all the damage and increased patrols to keep the place safe and accessible.
Not a fishless episode you got a starfish 😂😂 very cool to see another fishing zone available for us to enjoy. I haven’t fished there my self yet but I look forward to it ✅🎣
The council should have the rangers doing hourly checks through there and any backpacker van should be kicked out there and then. I don't begrudge anyone wanting to stay there overnight but have the decency to clean up your fu....g rubbish, which seems to a foreign idea to some people. Disrespectful c.ts cause these areas to be closed to everyone else.

Finally, great to hear. Might have to give it a crack, as clambering over the rocks at North Mole was getting to risky for this 69yr old body.
Totally agree mate, it's much easier at the south mole. Hope you get down there soon!
*too
Really great news Andy, one of my favourite spot finally reopened. Squid and Herring spot for me. Cheers for the update. Great job mate.

Great news. Been ages since I fished the South Mole - cheers Andy for giving me an excuse 😂👍
Cheers Paz!
That ferry has nearly capsized me before with his excessive speed.
I was thinking I would hate to be in a tinny or a yak near that thing doing that speed inside the harbour.
Great vid mate so good to see it open again can't wait to get down for a fish hopefully the numbers are up after being shut
Cheers mate, hope you get down there for a fish soon.

I have been down there twice since it reopened and saw rangers both times, so it seems like they are patrolling regularly.
