    Good advice. LED lights do lose their brightness. I try to do a section of RV each year to spread out the cost.

    Hello David. I have an old 1987 Southwind, so I went through and replaced every light in the place with LEDs. This gives me more power in my battery and makes the place nice and bright and a lot cooler. Thank you for the info I'll watch out for the lights. Be safe in your journeys and bye for now.

    Wish you could have showed a closeup of the bulb change. Some of the lights are way to bright in my coach. I would like to change them to softer bulbs.

      Hi...Not much to show really that is why I did not. You pull it out and stick in a new one. It is just two pins that go into two holes. So I did not think it was needed for a video. The idea here was to show people that these do go bad and dim out over time.

    LEDs are a current device more so than a voltage device although volts do matter. Anyway, both of the puck lights have a simple resistor to adjust the current rather than a constant current device. So what ends up happening depends on what voltage the lights were designed to run it. If it was designed for 12V and the resistor was set to for that voltage then when running on 13.2V from the batteries the current through the LEDs will be higher and thus the LEDs will run hotter.
    In some designs I've seen constant current diodes use instead of resistors. This keeps the LEDs running at their design current so the LEDs stay closer to their design temperature.
    Some people that have added Solar and Lithium batteries to their coach have put in 24V battery system and a 24V inverters, 24V inverters are more efficient that 12V inverters, then they put a DC to DC converters in to power the coaches 12V systems. This way the coach runs on regulated 12V power instead of power that run from 11V to as high as 14.5V. As a side effect that also helps you LED lights.
    Would that help in this case? Might but I suspect it's more of the design of the puck lights using LED that can't handle the temperature seen in this application.

    • @DavidBott

      Hello, sorry about that, I figured showing it that it was only a two pin configuration on the LEDs would kind of give people an idea that it's actually very simple. Except of course in my video how I blew the fuse because I forgot to turn the lights off before I went to put them in. LOL. But the LEDs are just two pins, pull it out, push the new one in. Take care. Keep safe on the road.

  • @patwilcox2043
    @patwilcox2043 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So easy, and yet you didn't show the actual replacement on a single one! nice.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right...so easy thus I really did not think it was actually needed to show how it was done. After all, it is two pins that just get inserted. Not much really about it, just more or less saying they do get dimmer over time and might be a good idea.

    3500 Kelvin is a little less warm than I prefer. 2700 Kelvin gives you a real warm glow like an incandescent and 3000 K is pretty good. Do you feel the color is similar to what you had before? Getting a new Tiffin in a week and I like having spares of this and that. Thx

    • @DavidBott

    why am I seeing a extra light in the mirror at back of coach... evertime you say after replacement?..looks like a extra light on..

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the light that I mention that is lighting me up. It is the light for the camera so you can see me because if I did not have that, the camera would adjust to all the lighting being on in the coach and I would look dark. So you are seeing that light in the mirror.

    looks to me like you were leaving the front light on when you took after replacement picture......why?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually you can see the light TURN ON right before I come back in front of the camera after doing the before and after compare. I turned the light off when I got out of the frame for the after shot and turned it on again before I stepped back out.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe...I stand corrected. The light was not turned off during that sequence! The good news is that light would have only lit up the front area where I was standing and should not have effected the mid section on back. I do remember turning it off, but now recall that was a still shot taken with my phone. Ugh! Oh well. It still does work to show the before and after based on how I did the lighting. Good catch and thanks.

      We did ours with generic Amazon bulbs. Replaced every interior incandescent to led, about 75 bulbs, total cost 180ish.
