overnight stocker from the UK here. love the vid., definitely agree with the mind set. i just go in and get paid to listen to music/podcasts while i do borderline meditative work, clock out and not think about it until i clock in next.
Salute to you! Thank you for the comment! Overnight stocking is definitely a hack for quick easy money if you'r strong in both mind and body but I definitely don't want to do this forever. It's not for everyone, but those who do it can use it as a stepping stone. Keep grinding and getting that money! We will soon be where we want to be, just got to keep working hard, love.
I’ve been working for over 4 years in overnight Groceries store. I got hired with the mind of “it just a job for money” and having a lot of trouble during the first month with hard time sleeping and extremely high work charge (cause i work in a big place. Probably as big as a Costco) and yet here I am. 4 years later being promoted to Assistant manager and I like what I’m doing. What you’re saying is true especially for the thought. Other of my guys who work with me that were listening to music the whole shift (10 pm to 6 am) were near the dead stage at the end of the night (don’t know why lol honestly). Anyways great video and advice
Thank you and you’re a great example of how a simple mindset change can change everything, even your position within the company lol, good on ya for climbing up through your hard work for real🔥💯 and yea the job can be tough sometimes but finding mediums and ways to enjoy it and make it as smooth as possible is how you THRIVE. It becomes fun to clock in ‘cause sometimes I go in a talk to friends on discord while working, I listen to my music or a podcast or even stuff I like listening to people talk about like video games or one piece. It’s all about how you make your experience cater to YOU and you can take this job to most other jobs where you alone and can get your work done with no one over your shoulder and pestering you while you work💯 thanks for the insightful comment and keep up the good work🔥
I wish we had more workers like you where I work. You and I would get along perfectly. I've had three skids in one isle and that took me a couple hours just to set the boxes in the correct sections.
I appreciate that, I bet it’d be a great time 😎 and yea on big truck nights it’s painful to get everything where it needed to be in a timely fashion. One night me and my crew were spotting all the products and taking stuff off of pallets till 2am in the morning💀pain isn’t even the word for that experience but there will always be better and worse days with this sort of job💯 hope you get some more like minded people at your place of employment and good luck with your work going forward❤️
I don't know hoe I found your video. I have not worked retail in over 30 years. My take away is this. Prep. By getting a place for empty cardboard and a bag or box for plastic. 1. Downstack your aisle. Product all goes in each shelving section. 2. Put your product out. 3. Pull product forward for each section as you move down the aisle. 4. If your store is closed at night, don't be afraid to make one mess and clean it up at the end. Save time and productivity where you can.
About to work overnight for Walmart. The only part that will be hard would be sleep. I love being particular about things, and I like working with stocking merchandise. Being awake past about 1 or 2 am is going to be the hard part.
Congrats on the new job! And yea honestly from doing overnight stocking for a year now this is my piece of advice: get enough sleep but don’t OVER sleep like don’t sleep the entire day in anticipation for your shift. You’ll feel a lot better and motivated to stay up and get go to work.
Yessir I had the headmount first when I got the GoPro but it gets annoying and heavy on the head so now I have the chest mount and it works pretty nice
*Overnight Gang**, Meijer Grocery. Orientation day 2 tho, I just want to get working already 😂. Been working and cooking for the last 8 years in restaurants. Once you get into it and get a good flow going it’ll be a lot more fun and calmer! Always have a plan as well as bring all your necessities to work and never forget them l, especially headphones if they let you. Thanks for the comment bro! Hope all is well and let’s get this money!💰

Are the boxes already on the aisles when you get to work or do you have to go in the back and grab everything? Or do you do a check on the aisles and then go back and grab what you need to stock?
My place of work sometimes the boxes will be where they need to be if the truck is small enough or if there is no truck at all meaning we are running back stock. I’ve never had to go back and get the pallets or boats of product myself but every store is different💯
No it’s so easy just got to make sure you put things in the right place, block which means bring product forward and organize it as well as clean up after yourself when you’re done. Good luck with your new position gang💯🗣️
It’s pretty easy. Sometimes it can be annoying when it comes to messy isles and items not being where they are supposed to be, but all in all it’s really easy. Been there for 5 months overstocking at night, just interviewed for a team lead position! 🙏🏽
Hardest part is waking up I do 10pm - 7am and trust me that 9 o clock make me rethink everyday I would say it’s a challenge for me is due to the fact that I go to trade school so the mornings falls on the same day I go to school which is also in the morning and I wouldn’t say it’s too bad going to school cause I don’t be tired in the mornings and also trade school is chill I usually nap, but getting off and then going to sleep then waking up at 9 is the hardest part my body just won’t move and get up I’m always late every single day but my managers love me so they don’t even care, but the 9pm is the hardest out the day. Also I learned my lesson never go to sleep on break worse decision I made in fact, I went home that day early because my body gave up when I clock back in from break, overall most days be chill they just short handed and we usually do a little more in what I seen in the videos usually run about 15-20 pallets each night.

Im thinking of applying for a overnight position, and your video came in so handy so I appreciate it a lot 🙏🏽 I’m curious how did you adjust your sleep schedule? Cause I heard it’s a drastic thing to deal with 🤔
Definitely go for it it’s a chill job! I adjusted by doing things really early in the day like going to the gym making food and then going to sleep at like 2-3pm so I can get up at 10pm to make my 11pm shift. I had already been an overnight worker at a bar prior so I have experience with this lifestyle, you’ll eventually adjust. Hope this helps 🤞🏾💯
Nice vid. I just started a couple of day ago too. Can i ask you a question ? When they gave you a cart full of box to fill out the shelves . What do you do if you still have some box left on your cart and it nearly the end of your shift ? Are you just take it to the back and left it there ? I'm still new to this ,thanks.😊
Great question! The way it works out at my warehouse is usually the manager (if they are there) is supposed to handle the rest of the things that don’t get done but to be honest you SHOULD be finishing your work if it’s a reasonable amount. Probably ask them how much is expected to be done and if you can’t finish everything one trick is to simply make everything look neat and organized so they don’t have anything to say just in case. I say when you first clock in to get to work immediately whether that is spotting the product in it’s designated sections or if everything is already where it’s supposed to be just get to work right away. This way you can plan how your night is going to go. Each night also depends on how big the truck is each time so that’s something to keep in mind. Will be starting as an overnight associate next week at Walmart, just want to know on a scale of 1 to 10 how fast paced job is it? Like are 8 hours enough for a normal paced person to finish the task?😭
Yea 8 is plenty time to get all of your work done, personally I would go hard for the first 4 hours get everything situated and most of it done then finish up and have a calm rest of your shift organizing cleaning and then maybe working back stock if you’re done early. The nights are a lot more enjoyable if you keep a good pace and grind pretty fast for the first couple of hours. Congrats on your new position man🔥🔒
Props to you man, I get sniffles every time I walk pass the frozen aisle🤣💯 When I first started working every week I’d go home sick just because of how cold the entire store was man. I’d wear a sweater and it still wouldn’t be enough. You’re a beast for working frozen 🥶
Probably might be better when the night temperature is still mildly hot. Where I live, in the summer, the nights can still be up to 70 - 80 ish degrees. Never worked as a stocker, or someone in the grocery store, but I do plan on getting one pretty soon 😃
I wish I had knee pads man and yea like the previous comment said^^ they are definitely a must and will massively improve your ability to reach low shelves etc. A game changer indeed!
My store “the big store” expects a box a minute once you clock in. I know your doing a video and talking but in my store your pace is bit slow and unrealistic. My boss wants a box a minute which is also unrealistic request when you consider staging ,scanning product if necessary for location, actual stocking of item , over stock breaking down boxes and clean up. (Not to mention fixing other stockers mistakes.)the math ain’t math n I came here to see someone morph! Like one of the stockers that make frate dissipate and then give away their secrets. Oh fooey
I hear ya, it varies from store to store honestly, my store isn’t that big compared to others and like others been telling me they work at target, Walmart etc and those stores have a way different expectations than the one I’m at. I can work really fast and I have before but the demand for us it a bit lower since it isn’t that big of a store. I hope you’re getting paid well for a box a minute tho🤣💯
How do regular grocery stores work in terms of inventory? For us, we have a Front of House (FOH) and a Back of House (BOH) system. Let's say 24 units come in, and 12 fit in the lane (1 home). We then destock 12 units to a BOH bin, like D.100.RACK10.C01. On the handheld device, we have a replenishment tool that guides us in the store on where to go and restock the items. I assume for you guys, you guys get exactly what they need for the most part, and if any overstock is left, they just put it on pallets and general storage carts. The overstock will get stocked throughout the day. Is that correct?
Yes we usually get pallets every other night with the general items we need to put on shelves then if we have anything that doesn’t go up (overstock) we place them on pallets and boats and the people that come in during the morning work them if need be!
i thought youre supposed to remove/move the stuff already on the shelf first and then stick the new stuff behind it? otherwise you or the higher ups are just gonna have to constantly deal with expired product since you just lazily shoved all the old stuff to the back instead of keeping it at the front where it can be bought before it expires
@@terrycruise-zd5twthat’s called rotation and yes it’s important to do that for anything w an expiration date of any kind no matter how far out. we’re supposed to be doing it to maximize sales and sell the close dated items instead of having to distress them.

Congrats on your new position man🔥🔒
@ thank you so much sir, appreciated.
Overnight stocking in frozen is pretty nice
Props to you man, I get sniffles every time I walk pass the frozen aisle🤣💯 When I first started working every week I’d go home sick just because of how cold the entire store was man. I’d wear a sweater and it still wouldn’t be enough. You’re a beast for working frozen 🥶
Probably might be better when the night temperature is still mildly hot. Where I live, in the summer, the nights can still be up to 70 - 80 ish degrees. Never worked as a stocker, or someone in the grocery store, but I do plan on getting one pretty soon 😃
are knee pads necessary? im on heavier side
Very recommended, regardless of weight your knees will be bone on floor consistently and it does take its toll, invest in a good pair my advice
I wish I had knee pads man and yea like the previous comment said^^ they are definitely a must and will massively improve your ability to reach low shelves etc. A game changer indeed!
Agreed💯 invest in them so down the line your knees don’t start hurting.
(Not to mention fixing other stockers mistakes.)the math ain’t math n
I came here to see someone morph!
Overnight❤
LFG!
How old are you if you don't mind me asking. I'm rita
@@dracoslayer537 and where are you from
Not much rotating
That doesn't matter much unless it's something perishable
It's dry stock not much rotation to be done!
I been working stocking overnight 4 like 2 months u taking 2 long in my opinion 😂u don’t need 2 boats either
I got to be here for 7 1/2 hours straight so I work at a decent pace 🤣 I use multiple boats for cardboard, and dead items it gets real trust me💯
my crew will blow u out of the water - that is not efficient at all -
i thought youre supposed to remove/move the stuff already on the shelf first and then stick the new stuff behind it? otherwise you or the higher ups are just gonna have to constantly deal with expired product since you just lazily shoved all the old stuff to the back instead of keeping it at the front where it can be bought before it expires
@@terrycruise-zd5twthat’s called rotation and yes it’s important to do that for anything w an expiration date of any kind no matter how far out. we’re supposed to be doing it to maximize sales and sell the close dated items instead of having to distress them.
He later got fired after this video was discovered
No still here working hard and pushing 😂🤞🏾
How do you know which items go where ? 😯 barcode ? Or something
Yes the barcode matches with the barcode that is stuck to the tag on the shelf!
DM me i can tell you everything. Whats ur IG?
