Ah, the fun of low-stakes word games. Where else would an obscure way of describing the sort of wooded place Peter Rabbit might call home cause so much trouble?
Ah, the wonders of Television. I love it when the producer says "who's running it down here, is it you, you, or someone else?" I can't tell you how many times I have said to people, "who is directing the show, is it you, you, or me, because if it's not me, I'll gladly leave for the day!" I pissed off quite a few executive producers and line producers in my television career LOL
I think I saw this on an episode of "Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned", but in any case I'm with Chuck - no it's not the answer, but why throw the word out entirely? Given that D was previously used in a guess and wasn't in the correct answer, the only thing that would've happened is potentially slotting the E and/or A, with the other team still getting a guess.
How to make a game show director mad!
Chuck Woolery's laugh is hilarious, lol.
I've done TV production, and let me tell ya, this kind of stuff is completely what happens almost EVERY DAY...lol

This is one of the 2 things I clearly remember from GSN's
I remember this coming up during "Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned".
Due to a production problem a word was replaced and the program edited.
That one was DEEP!
Well THAAAAAAT escalated quickly.

I remember seeing this years ago on the Game Show Network
The word is obviously WHALE. I remember once the word VROOM was used which is in the dictionary and Chuck said it wasn't, but the judge said it is.

Wow!!! As District Attorney Adam Schiff once said on Law & Order: "What are we running here?!! The '62 Mets?!!"
It's called "too smart for the studio".
I was gonna make a joke about Chuck being cranky, but then the director got annoyed and all hell broke loose!
Would love to see this full episode one day
Sounds like my job! 🤣
Very interesting.
