This arrangement is very relaxing. Lately I've found whenever I feel stressed out or anxious, I come to this video. It's really lovely and well done.

This exact arrangement of the song you’re playing predominantly sounds in my head whenever I think of the name “nutty noon map.”
What that means to me is that your rendition captivates me more than the actual song you’re basing it off of.
I wish to play this rendition one day

It’s been years and I finally want to play piano, and I hope to be this good, I would always think about this song from time to time until I finally wanted to perform it myself

Very good arrangement. That is all I can say because it is pretty much all I know about music besides "It good/bad". Tugs deep into my nostalgia and sounds very nice.

I've held this arrangement close to my heart for a bunch of years by now, it's beyond moving.

Really nice! :D I love the jumps too, it never gets repetitive. Have you considered playing "Majora's Mask: Astral Observatory"? I think that song would be awesome in your style

This is such a pretty arrangement. You made a great song better. Love your dynamics.
How is it that you go about making your arrangements?

Thanks a bunch! Honestly, it depends on the specific tune and how long I go without having a dedicated recording session. I've typically been able to find time to mess around with tunes on the piano pretty frequently, even though being able to actually record has been increasingly difficult since the end of college; as a result, in general I've had a lot more time recently to devote to coming up with more interesting interpretations of the tunes (that and the ones I do record tend to be ones I've really liked for a while, given that I don't usually have a lot of time to record).
When I first start on an arrangement, I pretty much learn to play the basic tune and chord progression (as best I remember it by ear, typically), then improvise around it for a couple hours, usually in a ton of bits and pieces, messing with other arrangements at the same time. Eventually I hit on one version I like, and I typically practice that for another handful of hours, again in tiny bits and pieces (rarely more than 15-30 minutes at a time). Typically my better arrangements come out when I've had longer gaps between recordings, although it's unfortunate that it limits how many I'm able to do.
Thankfully, I just picked up a new digital piano, so hopefully I'll be a bit more consistent about making and recording arrangements on a regular basis, rather than recording them in huge batches and putting them out week by week like I've been doing the last couple of years.

Jonathan Aldrich Ah, I see. That's interesting. Well, I can see how you make each tune your own that way. My way of making arrangements is totally different.
Glad to know you'll be posting more. I love your work.

i always come back to this one and it always HITS. maybe it's the potato mic that makes it feel more homely, but i just can't draw myself away from this piece.

came back and wow i somehow thought "potato mic" was a compliment. i mean i still think it unironically MAKES the piece but that's still kinda weird lol

I _really_ have to agree with you in that Nutty Noon has by far the best music in the game and that the map themes are better than ever.
Can you do the Dangerous Dinner map theme as well?

This is an extremely beautiful and superb arrangement. Do you have by any chance the sheet music and if not, have intentions of transcribing it in the future?

Sheet music? (Sorry for a comment on a video made a couple years ago)

    • @jdaster64piano

I don't do full transcriptions since I play by ear, but I can write out a sheet of just the melody and chords I used, if you would like.

@@jdaster64piano hey! If you still have this sheets with you, can you send another drive with it? I really love your arrangement of this music and I really would like to play it. But the drive says it don't exist anymore, can you send it again, please? 🥺

I haven't had time recently to do new or reworked arrangements, but I do stream ~weekly and take requests (and in fact, I think I played this tune last week, so you can listen to it there once I have the VOD up!) I'll probably eventually upload a cleaner take from a stream as a highlight here too; I've done that for a number of older recordings already.
