For the end question I don't have a definitive favorite power system but I have a top 3: Reiatsu from Bleach, Ki from Dragon ball, and Cultivation from wuxia stories.

I recently started reading One Piece, I’m currently on Skypeia, and I really like the power system of dials and Mantra. One Piece in general has so many fighting styles that they feel like their own power system on top of Devil Fruits. Oda really knows how to worldbuild.

I don't have a favorite power system yet as my two favorite anime has different types. Eminence in Shadow and Slime data ken. Those are the only ones that are keeping me locked in. A power system that I do like is one from an anime not a lot of people talk about that being Chrome Shelled Reigos. Their power system involves something called kei. Everyone has it and can use it because of an artery in the characters human body. If you are a military artist (that's what fighters are called by the way) and you train or you are born with gifted talent then you can learn things like ballistic kei, the deadly kei roar. There are also characters called nenny operators who have psychic powers such as mind reading and telepathy though something by nenny which comes in the form of different colored rose petals. The weapons can vary as well and it really depends on how strong you're kei is too but kei also is a double edged sword because if you have too much or take an illegal substance in the universe called overload then we'll say goodbye to your body.
I really loved the vid, man. Watching it made me rethink of characters that I looked up to when I first watched anime. And the first characters that popped into my mind was Joseph Joestar(JJBA), Naota(FLCL), and Guts(Berserk). Mostly because those characters showed me no matter how rough life, how foreign the world can be the next day, don't stop moving, persevere, roll with punches. When I watch anime, sure, I watch for the story, plot, and the fights. But, there are anime where I just want to watch for the characters and their development. Thanks for making this vid.
I feel you on that Persona part. It's rough watching them all grow only to leave em behind, because you also have your own growth to go thru too. Persona in general has its best moments when its showing a character's growth and how they come closer to accepting "the true self". Without the player's intervention in the main plot, most of the ppl would be going about their day to day lives, worrying about missed opportunities, refusing to change their way of life because it's comfortable, and just not reach their fullest potential. There's some serious power in the bonds we share, cuz those bonds help shape our reality. Our experiences, what everyone sees and feels, our drive to improve and grow, all of it. Love the series and this video is fire. And yep, that post Persona depresso is real. P3, P4 and P5 left me in shambles.

"Hunter x Hunter" is notoriously known for having one of the best most creative consistent power systems in all of Anime. This video however talks more about showing off power systems for the sake of the story especially in a flashy or plot twisting way, which is more akin to Naruto. Although Naruto's power system is definitely not more creatively consistent than the series that inspired it which was Hunter x Hunter.
Agreed and this video was by no means trying to say one power system is better than the other. I just wanted to use some of my favorite ones to show how much they affect the plot

Yh, it's very versatile due to the fact that it's a Soft Magic System. The problem with Ki is that it's too soft. The only thing we know is that Qi I'd life force. There are never really any explanations as to how characters use it. So while it's very versatile, it's also ver bad imo

SMH I think it's just profitable to like Japanese Manga and anime WITHOUT CRITIQUE OR RIDICULE Power systems in all of anime either completely ditch the power system, make up new rules for the power system to boost the MC out the blue, or just outright ignore the rules of the power systems they set up Remember JJK, or Naruto rasenshuriken lol BTW JJK is basically Naruto but with demons instead of ninja But the rasenshuriken was supposed to deal cellular damage to Naruto but..... they ditched that idea as the story progressed lol There's so many examples of how Japanese Manga and anime can get away with the worst writing and you guys will never hold them to any standards whatsoever
They ditched it because... they made him able to throw the Rasenshuriken by improving his chakra control via Sage Mode training. The reason why it damaged his hand is because he held it _in_ his hand even when it hit the enemy and blew up into all those cellular level needles/blades. Of course it would stop doing that if he didn't keep that close.
One of the best power system in my opinion is Negation. The people who had this ability had the power to negate a certain rule of the world and they're called Negators. Their ability name are also all have the prefixes "Un" in front of them. For example, Negator of Move would negate any concept movement that they see as long as they too don't move and they would be called UnMove. What makes it interesting is that since the power is conceptual negation themselves, the power also evolve the more they understand their rules. And these power evolution are also followed by huge personal growth since you literally change how you view the rule and how it impose those rules onto reality. Example, Andy or Death Negator , he negate all form of death, conventional or not and the power give him INSANE healing ability but he has one huge weakness, people can just cut his head and seal it in a container so he won't heal. But after meeting this one girl saying, as long as people's memory exist, they won't die. This cause his power to evolve, he's easy to capture before because he heals from his brain cuz he views braindead as a form of death but now he can heal from anywhere cuz now, he heal from his soul.
