When I watched this and had closed captions on to see the lyrics, I too was crying. It was a pure wave of nostalgia from when I first played Pokemon Red and Blue with my starter Charmander, and getting to play all the games since then. Despite the ups and downs that Pokemon has in general, it brings people together old and young. I feel like a kid again watching that music video and I'm so glad to see others like myself who grew up with the series get so emotional. It's a good feeling, one that never should go away.
As for the 'Unova and Kalos' part, that was the expansion pass for Sw/Sh, the Isle of armour and the crown tundra. I think those people are from unova and hoenn.

This is just simply amazing. What a wonderful trip down the memory lane coupled with the upbeat music that really lifts your spirit! (Bump of Chicken's music really have that "feel good" magic! XD). Even though I'm only a casual Pokemon fans and I didn't play all of the games, this video still hit me in the feel and made me tear up. Seeing all the familiar faces that you grew up with, the lives of the Pickachu boy and Eevee girl and the new journey that they're about to embark on. It's even more emotional when you see all the professors looking over the pair... I can only imagine how the hardcore fans feel when they see this. Seriouslyl, the title of this music video should be "feel" instead of "Gotcha". XD Also, you should get yourself a Switch if you can, man! 👍✨
Highlights for me. Serena soloing Mewto. Go girl. Morpeko making Marnie smile is really cute. The two new protagonist. They're designs are unique and I love that they show a lot of personality in just a few scenes. Gym Leaders & Elite Four members are grouped together by their typing specialty is great. Blue looking like cocky as ever. Love it. Champions looked amazing. Love the fact that just from the their hands, you can tell it was Alder and Iris. It was like Alder was passing the baton to Iris. Cynthia traumatizing as again with Garchomp. Perfect. Truly the best Pokémon video there is. The music is amazing too.
what's funny is I teared up at the exact same moment you did when I first watched it. Both the visuals and the music really struck something in me, what with all the professors and the starters smiling.... the captions say "I want you to know that you're here, that's how this all began." Like it's saying thanks to both pokemon and the fans for following for so long.

It makes sense; the song in the first part talks about the beginning, so to recall the quote of a reference right at the start of the pokemon journey, not only as a game but as a series, is the best way to start AND end the video.
