    I switched to linux(mint distro) about a year ago. One of the better choices I made. Sure , if you don't have a buddy sitting next to you who already knows the basics and guide you, you might stumble around at the start, but not nearly as much as you might fear. Just setup a spare pc you're not using anymore to fuck around with and you'll quickly get the hang of it.

      Yeah Bronson is building a rig next year and might use this old rig for a Linux experimentation device and a media server

    You have my sympothies, every version of Windows for a while has had lots of changes I didn't like but had to deal with for one or two improvements I wanted, though I think I would pirate Windows Server on my laptop, I mean 2003 was superior to XP in every way without giving up functionality. Here's the thing with Windows 10 though, every year for a decade they've been making additional changes you can't undo, so you've already been forced to adopt many of them to continue getting support, depending on your computer it might be near unusuable with Windows 10 now compaired to the original RTM (for many reasons).

      I mean the thing is none of these changes were as drastic or as awful as Windows 11. Also charging 30 dollars per year for extended security updates that used to be free on previous versions of Windows is awful.

    Microsoft never said the last version, they said it was the last version released (should have used the word latest instead). Course it suddonly looked really bad to say it's not supposed to be the last when everybody was already thinking that so they tried, but the only thing worse happened, windows 10 just kept changing a couple years while keeping the same name, pretty much should be calling windows 11 windows 30.

      Good call hopefully Windows 12 gets us where we want to go

      Why not go back to XP that was even better right? I am glad I was running 11 with TPM 2 recently I had a trojan that was trying to talk to my bios and couldn't thankfully.

      @@nbrown5907 If you sold a secured variant of WinXP, there would be buyers. I run Classic Shell to control the Windows UI and force 10 to include design from earlier versions, like classic control panel. Much smoother.

    Windows 11 does not offer any useful features to me. If I can switch to using Linux exclusively, I will do so rather than upgrade. At work, I'm going to need to run the latest Classic / Open shell to beat the UI into a usable shape.

    Lol it is not that different from 10 you all should have stayed with XP I guess. This stupid shit happens every time lol. Go to Linux then baby.

      @OmegaPaladin144 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      The stupid shit comes from Microsoft making the system more awkward to use. People upgrade because they have to do so in order to keep the system resilient against malware and exploits, not because of any improved performance or amazing UI. Remember Windows 8 and its garbage tier UI?

      @@OmegaPaladin144 Yes but comparing 11 to 8 is ridiculous. if it is the comfort of stuff like menus you can tweak those to be just like 10. If you have an older pc I feel your pain my second multimedia system is an I7-7700K which is running 11 and not supposed to. Lucky for me Asus made the bios compatible. If you ever get a trojan you may appreciate TPM2 it kept a trojan from talking to my bios.

      @@nbrown5907 While it is not as bad as 8 having to get into the registry to turn off all the annoying garbage they want to force on to me is horrible

      @@nbrown5907 Yeah, my computer is older. I mostly play older games or indie titles, so I don't need a new monster machine. Basically, every feature update I see in Win10 is something with little use to me, and Windows 11 is more of the same.
      One of the most obnoxious issues was implementing BitLocker by default. It makes recovering a hard drive much harder, and is not really relevant for home users.
      Microsoft could make life a lot easier with a flexible Expert version that gives full customization and control right out of the box. No mandatory Copilot or OneDrive or MS account crap.
