  • One of the most useful thermal spray coating processes used by Plasma Jet is the non-transfer plasma arc method. In this process, a micron-quality coating material is fed into a stream of ionized gas, where it is melted and propelled towards the workpiece. The intense temperature capability of plasma coating systems makes it particularly suitable for the application of higher melting point materials such as ceramic coatings. The process brings out the most useful properties of ceramics, including very high hardness and wear resistance, excellent thermal shock resistance, high temperature stability and corrosion resistance. Although the process itself operates at temperatures up to 16,000º C, the temperature of the target workpiece remains below 200º C
