    • @kheldaryt
      @kheldaryt ปีที่แล้ว +4

      OP, not hating on your point but what's the counterpoint? He's right.
      Bass is effectively just saying we don't have a plan which is true. Some of the specifics sound more dramatic, so someone could push on those; but mostly what he's saying makes sense so they don't have much to argue. Relationship with China is unhealthy but we do it because people like cheap stuff. US needs leadership that reasonably thinks through what's worth keeping here and paying more for and what doesn't matter.

    • @titusp9488
      @titusp9488 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bass only sounds good to people who dont really know him or agrees with him ... he is actually very bad at investing. Check his performances.
      Bass has also had some major losses. In 2011, he lost $1 billion betting against the Japanese yen. He has also made losses betting against the Greek government and the Chinese stock market.

    • @posthocprior
      @posthocprior ปีที่แล้ว

      There may not be a counterpoint. CNBC, though, should have a China expert who can 1) confirm Bass’ points on China 2) provide an historical framework of why the relationship with China is very different from, say, the Soviet Union. In any case, the interviewers don’t have the knowledge to challenge Bass’ points, which is just a fact based argument.

      Imo what we are seeing is a period descent. It is happening in the west as much as it is in China. It is the choice of the people in power and leadership and their people whether they and we make that descent period a graceful one or descend into a full violent spiral and a disgraceful period in time. Let's hope for the former and not the latter for the sake of Americans and Chinese peoples, mostly the poor or hard working families and not wealthy by any means, but merely trying to keep themselves or their families afloat. Those are all the people whose lives would be catastrophically affected by terrible decisions carried out by our leaderships. I think America will always have a relationship with China. There is no way around that, but the asymmetry of our value systems means our countries have to look beyond our 2 countries for the future of our people and it becomes truly unfair to Americans and Chinese to rely primarily on this partnership to raise every boat. It simply does not happen and has not happened.

I would also say that electric vehicles are coming because they are better, safer, and their prices are competitive with gas vehicles. Soon EV's will also be cheaper than gas vehicles. It isn't some horrid communist plot. It is advancements in technology. China is our neighbor and our trading partner. China and India have at least 3 times the population if the US. That means they have 3 times the consumers. Only way we can compete in a way that is economically beneficial to all Americans is higher wages which means more consumption. Just giving all the money to the top 0.5% in America isnt going to help the US. It will help the 0.5%, but not America.

    China apparently has jobs available, Friends who seem willing to sell them resources, and they have been creating a Transportation system to unite all of that.
    The US appears to be reduced to exploiting friends who do seem to understand that the US could not create a Marshall Plan today if they desired that type of assistance to help the Planet.
    The US appears to have created the greatest exploitation Empire on this planet, and become too greedy to actually enjoy that fact.
