This is beautiful and I agree the darker stain gives this piece warmth. I'm not crazy about the legs though, they look somewhat dainty and kind of spindly (is this a word??) for the weighty look of the dresser. Amazing job though. 😊

I live in Central Europe and so most of the pieces I’m working on are Scandinavian Mid Century. All clean lines, very refined.
But I have to say, through watching your videos I am developing an appreciation for American Mid Century. A little more gothic, a little more English influence perhaps - sharper and doubling up on the lines etc.
Fantastic results in any case, impressive work.

I'm really amazed at what I found when I sanded my MCM chest of drawers back -- gorgeous walnut! She's almost done and I couldn't be happier. Cool piece! I like that you went with the dark stain. I would've changed the leg/base to 4 simple spindle legs for a cleaner line. Recently stumbled across your channel and subscribed after the first restoration video! Oh, btw, a "dresser" is what the long, low piece is called in a bedroom suite with the taller, single row of drawers unit being called a "chest" of drawers. I'm learning a lot from you so I thought I'd share some info to help in return. I was in high end furniture sales for over 20 years and always wanted to do what you are doing.

When I read the comments, it seems like, most others feel different. Maybe it's just me or it's my european taste, I think that differs from the US. As I said, still liked the video and will be watching more.

In my book it is because I use it almost everyday when I work. If you just do hobbies here and there then any big box store sander will do great as well

The door with the awkward frame around it doesn't seem to fit the style. It detracts from this beautiful piece.

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm working on my grandparents French Provisional dresser. I'm using 150 sand paper and the natuaral wood is so beautiful. I ordered the walnut that you used on this dresser. I'm just wondering if it might be too dark. I'm thinking of doing one light coat and then using the water base satan over it. My fear is it will be too dark. I want the wood to shine through just like you did on this dresser. Amazing job, you're so talented!!

I think it should be fine. Give it a test spot and see if you like it. I love to hear of others worming on their own projects

@@CedarPineDesigns Did you use walnut polyurethane? Or the dark walnut stain. I'm confused.

@@CedarPineDesignsStain color: Natural colored danish oil and Dark walnut stain. It's a blochey mess. It dries too fast for amateurs like myself.

@@motocatz87 I used dark walnut stain, then natural colored danish oil and let it dry before rubbing in some furniture wax like Howard’s or Dixie bell

@@CedarPineDesigns I used your link to the wood stain on Amazon, but again dries instantly. It doesn't seem to be the natural colored danish oil, perhaps it's not the right link? I now purchased the walnut water based stain by Varathan. They told me at Home Depot that I should use Waterbase walnut stain because I plan on using Waterbase satan on top. I'm still getting a little blotchiness, but much less with this stain from Varathan. I'm thinking of using a brush or sponge instead of the cotton rag you suggested. I'm going to light sand the drawer to see if I can get the bloches out. I didn't think it would be this difficult. Thanks for your advice!
