I just want to say, I love this so much! We are doing this for music class, and I love it! I am so glad our music teacher picked you.. I am now OBSESSED!!
I am here because I needed to find the true Russia---I am totally disarmed and enchanted by the beauty of this music, and the mesmerizing skills and guile of the artist, her fingers are magical so connected to the domra like a huntress god...Thank you!
Incredible technical skill and artistry on a little know (here in the U.S.) instrument! Now you have me trying to develop an improvisation on the same theme on the cura saz, another instrument few here know, though I have far less skill to work with. Beautiful!
Spectacular musicianship, and the touch of jazz elements interjected into the classical piece is brilliant! The domra should be better known in the west.
You play both domra and mandolin, tuned the same but somewhat different in sound and, I’m sure, how they handle. How do you decide which to use for a piece of music? Do you find one easier for fast, complex pieces?
For me it depends on the color I am going for as well as the range required for the piece. In general, mandolin pairs very well with guitar and harpsichord, and works well for the violin music since it has the same tuning. Domra is brighter, so it is easier to pair it with piano.
Thank you! I recently picked up a vintage 4-string (Ukrainian) domra, but prefer the 3-string style tuned in 4ths, so I converted it to that, leaving one tuner unused, and tuned as Russian domra. I love playing it for lead fills with other musicians, in the way a mandolin would be used. The roomier fretboard is better for my long fingers.
@ you can try to tune the G string of the 4-string domra to B so than you have 4 strings tuned in 4ths (B-E-A-D) and some extra low range which could come handy.
@@ekaterinaskliar2004A very good point. I actually have a guitar that I converted to octave mandolin, but have the pairs tuned to exactly those notes on fourths, with the bottom pair octave strings and the rest unison. The rich sound, with close chords and many shared notes, is gorgeous. I’m still finding and getting used to chord voicings beyond the easiest few open chords at the bottom.
such beautiful playing!
Found this video through yours
Beautiful!
Makes me want to play Dorma!
I like this one better than the orchestral version. More subtle.
Спасибо!
Очень техничное и точное выступление
so beautiful and creatively performed!
Thank you!
@@ekaterinaskliar2004 May I ask you one thing? What is the tuning Mrs. Vasily?
This as lead in a jazz fusion band would be so cool
You should keep your opinions to yourself.
@@z.olderautist2209 that's an opinion :D
that would be sick

А зачем домра должна быть более известна на западе ... ?
Thank you!
Игорь, потому что это прекрасный инструмент с уникальном тембром и замечательным оригинальным репертуаром
@@ekaterinaskliar2004My thoughts exactly , and it is, in my opinion, easier on the fingers than the mandolin.
