    Try a smoothing serum before you dry your hair. My hair is super frizzy too. And you can try to brush more gently or you can sleep on the pinned curls overnight to set them.

    To curl and pin takes about 20 minutes-- but it depends on how many curls I do. And the style time depends on what style I do after the pins come out.

    sally's beauty supply, or if you don't have that find a drugstore (rite-aid, walgreens, whatever) that's in a predominately older neighborhood. think across the street from a retirement community. i'm always able to find pin curls clips, chiffon scarfs, and those types of "old lady" beauty supplies at place like that. ask a grandma!

    I'd also like to know if this will work for longer hair. Mine is naturally straight, medium fine, fairly thick, and down to my waist. I'd like to be able to get a little bit of curl in it from time to time! It's hard to pull off vintage without a little curl, at least on the ends. My curls tend to fall out the minute I try to finger comb them together, brush them out, (sneeze at them...), etc. Would love to see you demonstrate some of these techniques on longer hair! Thanks for your videos! =)

    I'm having trouble sliding my hair off the curling iron. I end up practically scraping my hair off the clamp. But when I try loosening the clamp as I'm rolling, my hair just slides out. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have long, frizzy hair. Thank you!

    • @annalane32
      @annalane32 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had trouble with this too! You can actually buy curling irons that don't have the plastic bit at the end, they're called curling wands. With those the hair just slides off. Otherwise, if you gently squeeze the clamp just a few times to slightly loosen the curl, place your thumb at the bottom of the iron, tilt the iron up, and then you can use your fingers to gently guide the curl onto your thumb. And not to worry, if you mess up the curl in the process, it's ok to reform it with your finger before clipping it. Good luck!

    your hair isn't "damp" when its heated by an iron. The difference between hard setting (pinning) and soft setting a curl has to do with the Hydrogen bonds in the hair. When you heat hair you are softening the hydrogen bonds. when the hair cools those bonds reform.

    try using cornstarch or cornstarch baby powder as a "dry shampoo". It definitely sucks up the oil, and add volume. Only use as much as you need, or it will dry your hair out. you can put it on your fingertips and rub it in oily areas, or withthe cornstarch baby powder if you hold the bottle close to your roots and do it in sections, you can squeeze-dust your roots, and shake it into your hair.

    The only issue I have with this is that my hair is VERY fine and I can NOT style my hair on day 2 hair! My hair gets very oily after about 15 hours and it is IMPOSSIBLE to style properly. In order for my hair to come out nice like this I have to do it on freshly washed, dried and prepped hair with mouse and root lifter! It sucks really! I wish I could go for a second day without having to rewash and restyle my hair.

    I didn't like the tresemme dry shampoo. fragrance was not for me but mostly it was because of how powdery it looks. I've tried a couple other dry shampoos. the Pssssst! dry shampoo has the dumbest name, but is pretty cheap & smells nice. however it also left a powdery residue to brush out. My favorite is SG invisible dry shampoo. the smell isn't too bad. about $6 at Target & doesn't really show up at all even in the darker parts of my hair.see if it's better for you & blends into your fab color

    I am a hairdresser and just wanted to say, curling your hair from the ends first is SO terrible for your hair. Start the curl from the base, then move towards the ends. Also, the heat setting on the curling iron should be set depending on what hair type you have. thin hair = lower heat, thicker hair = higher heat.
