Jigging Spring Walleyes on the Wolf River Wisconsin

This week on Larry Smith Outdoors, Larry and friends are fishing Wolf River walleyes in WI; for the annual walleye spawn and one of the most popular spring walleye fisheries in the Midwest. The boys are in search of a few eater size walleyes; as well as a shot at a trophy pre-spawn walleye. Larry also has the unique opportunity to be a guest in the fish shocking boat with the Wisconsin DNR as they tag walleyes from the highly-protected walleye spawning marshes of the upper Wolf River. +WI Fisherguy Typically I typically use 8-10 lb with a 6 lb leader

I wonder what impact is on these spawning females. They are exhausted already and they get shocked and handled... you need a research team for that. Hope they don’t get harmed end up spawning not belly up.

Fortunately It doesn't harm them. The biologist are very cautious, and the cooler temperatures also help protect the walleyes. If it did harm the fish they wouldn't tag them at this time of year. Thank you for the feedback!
