It’s exciting to see that Jesus outlined the whole “last days” scenario in His Olivet discourse and it all came to pass before Jesus’ generation had passed, just as He said. It is interesting that those first century Jews lived in a time of peace and safety under the Roman government, until the Jewish uprising and wars when a time of tribulation like had never been before or since, came upon them. It all ended with the end of the age. The old covenant age finally came to an end after 40 years of transition and the new covenant completely replaced it as outlined in Hebrews. What a time. I am so glad it is history rather than future events.

Because when Jesus said that “this generation” would not pass until all the things He spoke about come to pass, He was without doubt, argument or unclarity speaking of the generation of the people He was speaking to. No reputable scholar even though they might disagree with it, would translate it any other way. Jesus always when using that phrase, was speaking specifically to His generation, His contemporaries. He even told one group He was speaking to that there were some standing there that would not taste death till they saw Him coming in the glory of His Father, with His angels, to reward all according to their works. So the timing of these things is sure. That leaves us with a choice; do we believe Jesus and adjust our eschatology, or do we say He was wrong, and keep the current incorrect eschatology? For me it is a no brainer, I believe Jesus.
