The revisionist history podcast brought me here and it’s really sad to see how much more we’re learning about CTE and how little it seems to slow the money machine of college and professional football down. I wish a lot more people knew about this already. Unfortunately, it’ll be a long time before the sport ever becomes a past time.

The KEY to ending the NFL is to boycott the college bowl game title sponsors, and email them to tell them WHY. Examples:
      Buffalo Wild Wings
      Outback Steak House
      Tostidos chips
      Quick Lane oil change
      Napa auto parts
      Capitol One
Needless to say, don't attend games. And, don't get ESPN or other paid football channels.
There is NO farm system in this sport. The vast majority of players are from the Universities. Perhaps, financial incentives can also be given to non-athletes who have been accepted to top football schools such as Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Ohio State to attend college elsewhere.

@@goodgame5057 But, most MLB players seem to live long lives with few problems. Ditto the NBA. But, boxers and football players die young with Dementia. And, the problem has gotten Worse. If you look at the stat websites, there seems to be a bicameral curve. Modern NFL players die en masse in their forties, fifties and sixties, whereas those who played in the 1940s-50s reach their eighties and nineties. Of course, by definition, if they died last year, the old ones were old. But, there are quite a few from former generations who reached old age. Players have gotten much bigger (by 100 pounds in the case of Lineman) and also faster.

@@goodgame5057 They get a lot of "Parkinson's" too, and the rate of "ALS" is 4x the general population. Why the quotes?? It's really CTE of those parts of the Brain.
Interesting Factoid: Baseball greats Lou Gehrig and Catfish Hunter both played college ball. In the first case, Lou had concussions where he was out cold on the field for ten minutes. Both later died of ALS.
