I just went on my first quote as my first real painting business venture. 425sq f living room, just walls, walls at about a 15ft peak. I quoted them awfully low at $425. Just want to get some business, more pictures, get some good reviews. Looking back I could have quoted for atleast $600. But it’ll take me about 8hours if that, I can buy a 22ft guerilla ladder that’ll fit in my Ford Fusion so I can do bigger exteriors if they come
This project would of been happily referred to my competitors… unfortunately for this job we are scheduling out 4-6 months but I have the name and numbers of two other companies that could get to your project much sooner then we could and do a good job for you, would you like that? 🙌🏼☺️
Sometimes you have to do what you have to do,THE GOOD LORD will do the rest. These kind of jobs opens the doors for much bigger jobs, you have you vehicles out front and a mouth, you cannot lose, bro. Thanks for sharing this experience.
Friendly tip! I always screen over the phone first to see what I'm up against. I ask a few questions like, are you selling your home? Are you looking for a top quality job? How much are you willing to pay for 2 painter a day? I will then make my decision on the phone. I always go with my gut feeling. Not for me. To Cheap. Waste of time. I would have walked out. Have a good day! Cheers!
If you painted that for $600 that is way to low Especially if you painted that whole lid all that cut in and also did you paint all of the walls also? That is more like a $1900 $2100 job...
You go ahead and give them that bid. Makes things much easier for me. I just shape my prices around the idea of 450 a day and am working on bringing a real value that justifies increasing that daily rate. Of course I don’t tell them that that’s my system I just give them a price for the full job and adjust it based on inconvenience or if I have no jobs lined up for the next week
Why negotiate your price? Firstly, I never verbally speak prices. View the job. Discuss details. Take details and then email the quotation over. Simple.

I doubt the home owner would have been using that sort of language had he known he'd be on you tube. I would want to know , and probably would decline on the cameo appearance. And if I found out I'd been secretly recorded , I'd be saving myself400.00 and painting it myself.
