- A new documentary, exploring the topic of equine welfare in Victoria’s thoroughbred racing industry.
Produced by THIS. Film Studio in collaboration with RCKT Co, Racing Victoria (RV) and Screen Australia, ‘Here for the Horses’ is hosted by AFL triple premiership hero Josh Gibson - a racing enthusiast who is forging a post-football career riding and working with horses.
The documentary explores the initiatives and world leading safety standards that RV has established in recent years to help protect the welfare of all racehorses - before, during and after racing.
Treating all beings with care, love and compassion is the best way to go. I love horses, Viva Victoria!

Yeah I'd say thats the fairytale they tell ppl now after they got shown reality when the docu 'the final race' came out 😢 this industry is absolutely disgusting
Well I have seen a different side to racing and the way owners are treated by the industry. Have a court matter that has arisen from horse welfare issues that were ignored by the industry. Hopefully will have a podcast after this matter is finalised

I am ridding horse since 2000 and had lovely memories in my racing experience from 2006 to 2018 in uk and gonna b remembered my love to horses rest of my life 🏇

I would hope, as a longtime participant in racing, that they would write the same story. One of love for the competition and their counterparts. One of respect and admiration. Of gratitude for getting to participate in the grandest, most ancient sport known to mankind. I hope that is their story.

The deaths of race horses increase every year, most deaths reported are from on the track deaths,in stall or training deaths of race horses usually go unreported.
Drugging horses, is extremely common in the racing industry, stimulants, performance enhancing drugs and pain relieving drugs used to mask pain from injuries.
Racehorses are sent to slaughter without a second thought, New York remains the thoroughfare for race horses trucked to slaughter houses in Canada for meat.
Over 4,000 racehorses sent to slaughter houses in Britain and Ireland,2019.
Some of the slaughtered horses were once owned and trained by some of the biggest names in racing.
I think if the horses were able to tell you about their experience as a race horse it would be very depressing.
We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt if they were able to formulate religion they would depict the devil in human form. William Ralph Inge.

Im shocked that she said we just scratching the surface im regards of rehoming options. I have two ottbs they aren't your general pony. This breed requires a lot more care as they need more food, they don't grow thick coats need to be blanketed, most come out traumatized and are high alert and anxious to noises etc. Hence why over a third ends up in slaughter Houses.
Every one supporting the races should be forced to watch 'the final race' and other documentaries who shine a light on the abuse a race horse has to endure till its getting shipped long ways till its slaughtered. Absolute disgusting 😡 and heartbreaking that this is still legal
I come from a long line of bookmakers in my family Eric spider tymmes Richard Hart, your an empathic soul josh ,h go with your feelings l would like to know from my heart how Atmire Rhatki, was allowed to pass under the conditions he did ,there where warnings ,Dulcify, running 2furlongs with the injuries it had ,,we need too look back on how these incidents occured, to prevent them from happening again your heart is in the right place ,but body language tells you more than words, lam not against horse racing l spent the first 12 years of my life ,watching track work at Caulfield,, my concern is the horses welfare, too watch Admire pass like it did, still breaks my heart , may both these wonder beings, be in there field of dreams

Horse race young
Thumps down for misleading content. Most of those beautiful animals endure great abuse and end up as dog food. Do better in regards of critical research 😒
