- Enjoy this footage of a speedy 3 man crew flying through Waltham’s Monday route. This was filmed in over 80° heat with extremely high humidity, so moving at this pace is not as easy as it might look. This video is being posted per the request of one of the helpers, who I filmed on recycle the next day. Thanks to him and all the nice guys at EZ for letting me get some video of you guys this year.

I'm a garabge man have been for 3 months i love it. Amazing and fun job. People are all to quick to look down upon us garabge men unless you have done this job you will never know how rewarding it can be. Yes its tough yes it smells yes its nasty. At the end of the day you go home proud though

Mad respect and appreciation to the men and women doing this job I might do it when I grow up only for awhile tho man I see these guys rolling down my street and its crazy most people think nothing about it might be 9am but nah they start shift at likes 5 thanks to all the hoomans dat take care of our cities

I'm a garbage man helper myself, and these three have inspired me to go crazy on a job. I'm getting payed more while having much more fun, this work is amazing
It's a blast getting paid to work out but be careful you don't hurt yourself, I have shoulder issues and I'm not even old yet

I have not been in the waste industry for over 20 years, I miss it dearly , in So cal there are hardly any manual routes anymore you guys kick ass keep it up

How can you love it this look fucking disturbing and will break you mentally.
Looks like this truck has two sets of driving controls. The right hand one appears to be a standing position to allow the driver to get in and out quickly to help load garbage into the back. The left one I assume would be a traditional drivers seat for use when they are not picking up garbage and are driving to/from base or the landfill.
You’re correct, it’s much faster and safer for the driver to get out on the right. With two people on the back throwing it’s pointless to use the right side drive because three people at the back is too crowded.
Tough job for tough men. That is why every year the guys get a card and extra spending cash for Christmas from my family.

Really nice garbage truck I love it
People are saying that this job isn't worth it but what they don't realize is that the best part about this job is that you are helping to keep your surroundings clean And without it can leave breathing space open for different diseases and attract insects and rodents like rats and cockroaches, mosquitoes etc.
Throwing trash is definitely up there as far as one of the most demanding blue collar jobs. Salute.

Wait 2 seconds? For the truck to move 5 meters and stop again? It's pretty flawed to have garbage trucks picking up along the main streets. In my city all garbage collection happens in the back lanes

I was a supervisor. Injuries are certain usually a guy gets injured within a few months they are quickly replaced.

Yeah, looks absolutely devastating to the guys, hell, lifting the bins by hand, what kinda ston age shit is that? 3 man crews must be nice tho, I work mostly solo, driving and hauling bins mostly rural routes aswell so 200 km routes and 250 bins a day leaves you fkn knackered at the end of the day.

This is absolutely back breaking and non ergonomic to lift everything by hand without hydraulic rocker switch.You can wait for a slipped disc.Besides this they are not waring safety glasses or shoes.Fast is not allways good.

Automatic is the way to go, doesn’t require 3 to a truck, and not hard on your body. Not sure why companies still do manual rear load unless its a small company with a small budget.
