We have been on one Silversea cruise so far (another one coming up in April/24). We LOVED it. I was concerned about formal dress nights, but not because I didn’t want to dress up, just wasn’t sure how formal we had to be. Turns out not really all that formal. And don’t forget, there is only one formal night per weekly cruise. Tuxedos are not required, a suit with tie is sufficient. Dresses do not have to be floor length, just something you would wear to an upscale restaurant or as wedding guest. I love to dress up even though I had to dress well for work. We all look better dressed well. Why wouldn’t you want to look your best? But with all that said, for the most part people were dressed casually during the day and informally in the evening. We were so busy with daily excursions we never once stayed up late. We enjoyed the shows in the evening, when they had them. Loved the different live music in the various lounges….piano player, guitar player, jazz trio….all great. Anyone that chooses not to go on Silversea due to dress code doesn’t understand all the options that are available with this line. Their loss. Food and drink, all amazing. Gained 6 lbs on a 2 week cruise. Next cruise is 3 weeks. I will be visiting the gym this time! Excursions and the choice of excursions is great. Something for every type of mobility and fitness. No kids, yay! This is not because they aren’t allowed. There’s just nothing for kids to do. Definitely a cruise itinerary for the mature traveller. And I am glad for that.
Thanks for your comments. I agree with everything you said! Only gaining six pounds is amazing. I find my self looking for snacks at the Arts Cafe or wanting and extra lemon meringue pie from Atlantide. The Dawn and Moon are two of my favorite ships. I am headed back on the Moon in May for almost 3 weeks in Asia!
@@luxurycruisetips Hope you have a great time! We were on the Whisper (Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Britain. Even up to Shetland.) April we are on the Nova (so excited for this ship) for a Panama Canal transit. Starting in Fort Lauderdale, ending in Vancouver, BC. We are looking forward to the many sea days on this one, which I never thought I would say. We were quite tired having daily excursions on the UK cruise. We felt like we missed out on just enjoying the ship’s amenities.
A big question/concern for most passengers: is there much sense of motion from the waves/sea when cruising aboard small ships like these? These ultra-luxury ships are more like big yachts than modern cruiseships that carry 2,000 to 7,500 passengers.....and even big ships can have some rockiness during Sea Days in some parts of the world. So I am always wanting to hear from past passengers of a particular cruiseline or cruise-ship how comfortable the cruise was throughout the voyages that they experienced.
Great thoughts. I have cruised on the smaller Seabourn ships as well as the Silverwind and they have been stable and have not head issues. Years ago I sailed on a large Celebrity ship and we had several roller coaster days from NY to Bermuda. I have also had a few rough days in the med on the Wind Spirit.
I have just come off Silver Moon 19 to 26 July 2024. Solo traveller. The cooking and quality of food not good. Wine = Plonk. Many more negatives. One special server, butler good also cleaner of cabin. 6☆ , you have to be joking. Down to the rough towels in bathroom, the shower unit you can barely turn arround . Never Again! Top dollar for what? It's about time the expert vidoe experts on cruise travel, informed the public the actual truth . Some of these vidoes are just propaganda. One more thing, why do the people that put comments on these videos forget to put dates. All i come accross are 4 years old, year's old, what about 2024?
