Thank you, Hyundai for not adding a ton of gloss black in the interior. Out of all the subcompact SUVs, this has the most personality in the car design.
I bought one last October up here in Newfoundland Canada she is the preferred addition with the four-liter aspirator motor fwd model so far I am enjoying her. She is well equipped for what I need in a sub compact SUV.
I love how spacious the Hyundai and Kia lineup has become. The secret has always been to have al ong wheelbase, and avoid as much front and rear overhang as possible. That's how the Kona and Ioniq 5 look and feel larger than they are. Sportage and Tucson are also class leaders in space. New Santa Fe is also roomier than the Highlander that is 6 inches longer.
We just bought a '24 Kona Ltd and ours did not have a spare like yours did. We like the car, it is comfortable, roomy and we get 34 mpg highway. For us not being very tech savvy we do find the screen technology to be very confusing and not simple to operate at all and the dealer was useless as it has a lot of unnecessary features. Thanks for a good review guys.
Legroom would be totally fine. The people would definitely be be shoulder-to-shoulder but it's a very good option for the class in for fitting 3 adults overall.
I am seeing more and more of these around in Toronto, I have had my eye on this vehicle and I think this might be the car I order, thanks for the video.
What is your opinion on transmission that is being put on this particular Kona? I know you had issues with 8speed dc transmission with your Santa Fe and was wondering if you had any negative feedback with particular transmission. Thank you guys for a great review again. Love your videos.
I would like to see you guys do a comparison test with Kona N LINE against Seltos SX, thanks. suggestion: I think it makes sense to do your cabin decibel @ 65 or 70 mph, interstate speed for most drivers!
Great review Mason & Drew! I'm proud to be your subscriber! Is it possible for y'all to visit your nearest Mitsubishi dealership and review a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage? With high inflation & cost of living, many Americans are hurting financially and the demand for affordable fuel efficient new cars Is red hot! So you would be doing a great public service so please consider it!
Thank you, we appreciate that! They're out of stock most of the time but we would like to cover one it as one of the most affordable models in the U.S before it is discontinued next year!
My biggest issue is with electronics, there is just too much and knowing life if one thing goes other will follow and in the case of all the wire web it will be VERY difficult to pinpoint the issue.
This and the KIA Seltos are the clear leaders of the pack in the subcompact SUV segment. People who opt for the competition are cheating themselves on so many levels. I leased a 2021 Seltos SX turbo for 3 years and it was outstanding! I had no problems with the DCT and it actually shifted beautifully. Now that has been upgraded to an automatic which is even better. The build quickly was solid as a rock on the interior and exterior. I get similar vibes from the new Kona and have sat in a few at my dealership. The interior design of the Kona is a bit more attractive, but it is slightly more confining, despite the designated measurements. The cargo space is notably smaller. Exterior design might go toward the Seltos for me as it has a more substantial presence with its boxier design. It’s kind of like choosing between the Tucson and the Sportage. I chose the Tucson for my current lease and it continues to blow me away every time I drive it.
The Kona getting the new software and updated technology makes it the better choice. Less laggy infotainment, OTA updates for many things including infotainment, and wireless carplay. The Seltos is still a great choice, but needs the newer software.
Couldn't agree more. I test drove a Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross (the worst of them all), the Nissan Kicks (not a bad one!) and finally a Kia Seltos. I ended up with a 2024 Seltos. I love this thing
@@DeadofWinter321 Yeah, I mean it blows my mind that people even consider those other subcompacts, as well as the Crosstrek. The Mazda CX-30 is nice, but it’s more like a hatchback. Congrats on your Seltos! What trim…color?
Love the design but I find it interesting that they are prioritizing design lights over actual useful headlights and taillights. The cargo measurement is less impressive with the thing in the rear blocking the way.
When I first saw this, I thought is was the replacement for the problem-plagued Santa Fe - I digress... Great segment on this one KONA - did you replace the Santa Fe yet??
My lease on my 22 Kona is coming up. I have been less than happy with the truck space on it and swore against Kona for a while now. I was thinking going back to Tucson as I had a 2019. But they are too expensive for my taste now. I am about 90% going to be looking at the Kona now. Probably the top line. But not the odd spoiler. I do realize the price point for the top model I can get a Tucson but with the Kona i get more festures and i like that
Unfortunately the Kona is not rated for any towing. Even the Toyota Corolla Cross has a tow rating of 1500 lbs. So if you put a trailer hitch on a Kona to pull something as small as a jet ski and your Kona develops a transmission issue you give Hyundai an out for not covering under warranty. How nice to have an SUV that can’t handle a sport/activity that the category suggests.
I've seen that it's possible to get the new Kona with body colored fenders. A white one with white fenders looks like a miniature Genesis. It looks much better than the generic black plastic fenders in this video.
The four dots on the steering wheel and the back rest of the front seat represent the letter "H" in Morse code, so one can argue that the logo is still there :)
It is as I have one. It’s the only thing I really don’t like about the car. I wanted to get the Limited to get the more powerful engine, but I could not get it without a sunroof which at 6‘5“ tall is a dealbreaker for me.

Now that it's been 4 months, what are your thoughts on it now? I was considering getting one.

Great that you are reevaluating reliability and resale values. Thx.
Thanks! Glad you like that new addition
The new Kona definitely looks alot nicer and love the updated look

Thanks! We have a Tech Help review of the new ccNC infotainment system on our channel which might help you out with the features of it 👍
This car has digital key right? And if it does, does it have passive entry with Apple devices?
Great review guys and I think I might buy this.
I like the looks overall but can't do the lowered headlights and taillights
Hello, is rear seat can contains 3 adults comfortably?
I’m 5’11” and the room is amazing for this class, not so sure about 3 adults like my size though.
Legroom would be totally fine. The people would definitely be be shoulder-to-shoulder but it's a very good option for the class in for fitting 3 adults overall.
My niece has a 2022 Kona with 28k miles, and the transmission failed. Replacing under warranty.
Warranty is the best so that's good when something bad hapoens
Nice review! Have yall reviewed the Sonata Hybrid Limited yet?
Thanks! It's coming soon! We have already reviewed the SEL in the meantime

This is an 8 speed automatic, non dct. We love ours. No issues.
Thanks so much! This is a traditional 8-speed automatic instead of the dual-clutch so there is no relation between them

I feel like the price is becoming quite high. But on the other hand its like the same size as an older Tuscon but much nicer...

Nice car overall especially plenty of buttons which is a rarity these days. However my wish lists will be an N line limited trim plus hybrid/PHEV
Those storms in the back! 😍

The dealer offered me a Kona or Tucson as loaner car, I picked the Tucson XRT. I just couldn't stand that look and in neoteric yellow on the loaner.
I love that yellow. Best color on this vehicle

Not yet but we are working on finding a new vehicle!
Best reliable car
Good value proposition as far as features, but the MPG figures are very subpar for such a small vehicle
Excellent video!😸
Thank you! 😄
Would really hope for reviews on mid-level trims on cars and not trims that are topped out
Would buy it at least to go back and forth to college
question, since most of us will lease this car for 3 years, how much is the resale after 3 years?
Quite informative

That huge blank spot next to the gauge cluster is so comically bad
Don't care for those lower front silver inserts (foglight covers?) Guess that's why Amazon has black covers for them.

It’s nice and a great price
What exactly are you trying to say in the title?
Great interior, except the headrests stick too far forward. Weird yucky exterior IMO.
Wish it came in an HEV, looking at the Niro instead

Shopping 🛒 would love to kiss those head and tail lights!!!!!😘

Great review. But man, the designers were generous swinging that ugly stick around!
Thanks!
Had the basic model the seats are atrocious
The older model looked better in the front new one not so much some models are ok some aren’t I find
The base engine on the Kona is a dog. Do not buy that car.

It crazy how this Kona is now bigger than my 2019 Tucson. 😅

The kona got a downgrade. Older gen was so much cleaner
