Mac Davis wrote this song ,but Elvis is the only one that wanted to record this song ,because he could relate to it ,because he grew up dirt poor ,and he did give back ,it is a great message song

Awesome song. The meaning can relate to today. Mac Davis wrote the song some didn’t want to sing it because of the concept. Elvis heard it and said I’ll sing it

Elvis can relate to this song because growing up in Memphis he lived in public housing with his parents.

He was born and raised until 12 or 13 in Tupelo Miss. Dirt Poor!

Written by Mac Davis for Sammy Davis Junior. He turned it down because he grew up middle class but recommended his good friend Elvis Presley, who grew up in a black Mississippi ghetto and would do it justice.
    Elvis is Eternal 💯⚡❤️

I love this song. You should hear the one Lisa Marie did. It's not a mashup it was done professionally. She did a few of his songs on certain days. Original Title: *Vicious Circle*

Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, was one of the background singers for Elvis in this song. Whitney met Elvis as a result.

❤My song request😢❤ Sorry, but thank you for your reaction!!!
This is my favorite single of his. I was fortunate to have a grandma who loved Elvis. Growing up in north-central Wisconsin, I didn't know what a Ghetto was. My grandma always explained things in a way that was relatable. Who knew then that 10 years later, I'd be going to college in Chicago and living near Chicago for 25 years. Raised two sons who are my heart and soul. Now, back in Wisconsin (since 2011) and chose the central-midwest portion!!!!❤😊
I love this song because of the message... 'are you going to lend a hand or turn your head'. As relevant today as it was the first time he sang it.😢❤
