    Wow, almost 9 years ago to the day...I randomly was sent me this video yesterday, with zero context, but immediately as it started to play and your first words were "I got a ride on this flatbed truck"...I knew that the person who gave you that ride on his flatbed, was my dad Eric "Coco" Slim LeBlanc (seen at 1:32). Sadly, we just laid him to rest a few weeks ago on April 21, 2023, in our hometown of Portsmouth, Dominica. 😢 My dad was really an awesome person, the entire island knew him, his popular cars, his flatbed trucks, his namesake and even better, his kind heart, spirit and great smile....like you did, the day you met him at the side of the road. This is very hard to watch, right now, as the grief is still very fresh and I still cn't believe he's not here. But I'm sure there is a lot more random footage of my amazing father touching the lives of many beautiful people near and far. Thank you for capturing him in this light! RIP Eric "CoC", "Slim" LeBlanc. Until we link again, daddy

      Thanks for the explanation. I remember my trip there to Dominica and meeting him. He definitely was a really nice guy, always offering a helping hand, even to a stranger like me.

      My dad passed away just after hurricane maria 2017. The grief still hits every now & then out of nowhere so I get that completely. In a strange way I was hoping to see if the camera would catch my dad going about his business but no.
      Happy that you got to see yours.

    the nicest people, these dominicans and the kalinagos. many times i'd been invited to hitch a ride. if you take the bus, the locals are courteous, chatty and lively, knowing you're a foreigner. i worked there for 3 years. the place is unspoiled paradise, the nature island, they say. and you can go to those isolated beautiful places feeling safe - waterfalls, hot and cold sulfur springs, scenic hiking trails, hidden beaches. their creole cuisine is divine. chefs and cooks in regular restaurants always take efforts to make their creations presentable. and food is cheap you have to watch your weight. dominica is the perfect place for nature lovers.

    here's a good tip for ya... ask people if it's OK to film... not everyone is OK with that and it shows

      @@JaysWorldTravels You are the first youtuber I have ever seen in this country. I remember a few years ago they were trying to lure American students who could not make it to American medical school to study in Dominica.
      Thanks for sharing.

      @@Heyymynameisjbells Thanks for the comment. I'm not exactly a youtuber, but I do travel and have plenty of videos. Someone once suggested uploading my world travel videos, so that's what I'm doing now even though it's years later. Glad you enjoyed it. My mission was to visit all the countries, which I completed in Jan.2020.

    Black people are so welcoming. Why can't white people be that nice when we vusit their countries?

    • @JaysWorldTravels
      @JaysWorldTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t know. Whites are not even welcoming to other whites either, like I experienced on Christmas Island, owned by Australia. I guess it depends on the culture and how they were raised.

      @@JaysWorldTravels the little restaurants. their cuisine is superb with palatable presentations even in in these casual restaurants. little private hotels are spread all over the island among lush greeneries and the hosts always make you feel at home and easy for you to soak in nature. professional tour guides can lead you to isolated places less frequented by tourists. and there are many of these places. what the govt is promoting are those touristy areas like emerald pool and trafalgar falls which are convenient for the cruise ship crowd. but there are still a lot of great places to sea. you may only ask a bus driver who is willing to drive you around the island for the whole day, at a price, of course, and you are in good hands. people are nice. they do not take advantage of tourists. it's a small island and people know everyone. if somebody commits a crime or do something stupid to a foreigner, the news immediately swirls around and that person's reputation is ruined.
