Oh my gosh Kayla, in the '70's, we called it the Rat Race. To stay sane and healthy, you have to get off the treadmill. You don't have to be this perfect homemaker mom. It's just too much. Your body eventually breaks down along with the rest of you. Slowing down is a good idea and the only way to do this is to stop planning for everything. Take things as they come. Instead of trying to do 10 things before noon, do only 3 or 4. and make sure you relax between each one. Being a parent is a tough job, and doing most of the work just you, is double hard. Homeschooling is cool but it's so much work. Your daughter might be ready to go to a regular school. She will be way ahead of most of the kids in her class. Your little boy probably too. The thing is, you are going to have to be willing to let go of some of the many responsibilities you have taken on --and I totally understand why of course, your heart is in such a beautiful place, but you might have to work on the real situation at hand --do a reality check, and make changes that will be good for you. Simplify you life. Keep it simple and, you know, don't take on any other responsibilities that you cannot do. Teaching and planning for other children is not the best for you right now. We all love you here sweetie, and we want to see you thrive --especially see YOU thrive. You must thinkof youerself. Be a little selfish, it's ok

Omg this conversation hit me so hard. Thank you for this chat! “If he can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy.” I’ve never heard that before and as a full time working mom and with so much going on, it was like a gut punch. But, a very needed and sobering one. This definitely will make me think… going to read this book. I def agree it’s the this culture of rush is a type of violence, but I never realized it before

From a fellow Christian SAHM thank you for letting God use you to share this. It was definitely what I needed to hear. I am also in a very busy season of life and I've been trying to find a balance as I can see it affecting my girls (and myself!). I have a 1yo and a 3yo. Our youngest are really close together (Aug 11). Glad to be in this journey with since you were pregnant with Jackson I believe. Even though I went back and watched all Riley's videos as well so I feel like I've been with you from the beginning. Thanks for sharing. Definitely need to grab this book asap. :D

I appreciate the video. I am Haitian, Christian Baptist raising a 2 and a 4 years old. and have been following your channel since you were pregnant with Jackson. Several of your ideas and parenting style resonate with me.

Really hit home with this one. I'm so guilty of my mind being elsewhere thinking about everything that needs to get done even though I'm playing with ny kids with no phone. Always trying to maximise my limited time within a day. As much as we probably know it, i appreciate the reminder and agree that we definitely need to slow down.

I genuinely don’t know how you do what all you do from being a stay at home mom, teacher, active in your co-op, active in your church, full time youtube and what all that entails, friend, wife mother, etc. and just completely rock it. I am so jealous. I have a one year old and almost three year old and feel as though I’m drowning half the time 😅 I just wanted to say you are a superwoman Kayla! And you have time to read on top of all that! You have so much to be proud of. I want to be you when I grow up lol

Kayla, I've been watching your channel for a long time although I don't often comment. There are many ways in which we disagree. However, slowing down is a good thing. I'm 68 years old now, and I have learned this. Thanks.

I’m a 63 year old & agree you are doing too much, you have to look after yourself. Homeschooling is not something I agree with as I feel young children need to interact daily with other children their age. Both my daughters are teachers & they do amazing work so maybe I am biased but that’s just my opinion. You need to take time out just for you.

That book has been on my list as well. Im with you on needing the paper copy of a book instead of audio book. Im currently reading The Anxious Generation and find it interesting.

This chat was so nice & I can relate.
Obviously I am not a youtuber but I do always wonder how children who grow up in a home, watching their parents film constantly or be on their phone/camera… how do they feel? How will they feel when they grow up?
    It truly makes me sad.
Maybe you are right. Maybe the devil created the internet/social media career to distract us

This goes for being a youtube mom. It must be tough having to grab the camera to film while you can actually be in the moment with your kids.
Stray strong mama. We appreciate you.

I don’t understand why religious people related everything to a devil or a god. People are busy because they themselves take on more than they can. For example how you had another child and decided to homeschool. That in itself made you more busy. It’s nothing to do with the devil it’s just something you wanted to do.

Thank you for sharing all the things I totally agree with you and this may sound dumb but don’t forget that the devil wants everything to be fast paced so it can distract us from God but try your best to soak in all the moments you can and give yourself time and grace ❤ you’re doing a really great job! love y’all Kayla!
