      Morning Pam,
Very happy with the rose....I am usually quite brutal with it every autumn and then worry I might have gone too far; and yet it always responds with a fabulous display the following year, late spring early summer. I'm sitting here now, trying to work out how old it is. I think I probably planted it close to twenty years ago! It's become an old friend. ⚘❤
      Have a fabulous week.
      Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱

      Good morning lovely lady!
The rose is Rambling Rector. It is a vigorous grower with pretty vicious thorns, but it is glorious⚘️⚘️⚘️ and smells divine. I'd recommend it to anyone who has the space, but you do need to keep it under control.
      Have a fab week!

Wow Annie, your garden is bursting, it looks fab. It has been an odd year for germination, my seeds have struggled too, most bizarre. Getting into the garden is tricky with the rain so all my jobs are mounting up and up 😂 Take care

      Morning Bethan,
It has been a very difficult spring with so many challenges! Tbh, I'm exhausted too...work, studying and the appalling weather it's been pretty tricky. I'm free today, it's not raining (for now), so I'm recharging my batteries with an early morning coffee just sitting in the garden and catching up with everyone!!!
      Have a fab week

Apologies, Jane, I seem to have missed several comments from a few weeks ago, so I'm trying to catch up now! 🤦‍♀️
The strawberries 🍓🍓🍓have been amazing this year! I harvested so many, and have made some ice cream and this morning I made some jam. So I'm very happy with them.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Hi Annie, everything is looking lush 👏 fingers crossed someone might have some good advice about the honeysuckle. My friends is just the same, most of the leaves on the floor! Is it this weather?(we blame weather for everything)

      Morning Barbara,
Thank you...as you predicted...I have had some fabulous advice from other lovely commenters, which has given me lots of suggestions to act on...so fingers crossed 🤞
I would love to go to Gardeners World Live this year. I missed RHS Malvern as I was flying to Rome in the early hours. I am working, but Sunday 16th would be my only free day. I will have to put out some feelers to see who else might be going....are you????
I'll mention it in my next video.
      Have a fab week.

What no Italian accent 😅. Oh wow I bet the smell is amazing on the rose wall. It is 18c here and cool I find so flannels it is 🤷‍♀️. Ahhh strawberry 🍓 harvests should be amazing. I seem to be battling leaf miner this year 😢 now they are in my chard. My shallots have bolted as have my spinach 🤦🏼‍♀️. Could you just cut off the stems and see if the plant recovers. Do you think it could be weevils I have them 😭😭. You’ll figure it out we have faith. Good to have you back have a super week, Ali 🌥️🇨🇦

Hi Annie. So much is looking brilliant: the roses, tomatoes, beans to name a few. It’s a shame about your honeysuckle. I’m afraid I can’t give you any meaningful advice on that. I hope you can turn it around. We have had a very wet couple of days and the slugs and snails are out in force munching everything they can. I think it’s a bad year for them 🙄. Have a great weekend when it comes. All the best. Mags 🌻🌺🌸🌼

      Morning Mags,
You are so right about the slugs! I hope they are not planning a takeover! 🐌🐌😂
I was at work this weekend, and I noticed that every type of slug and snail repellent you could imagine was flying off the shelves! The fight back has begun!!! 💪☄️💣😂
      Have a fab week

Hi Annie isn't your garden looking fantastic! You've done an amazing job and all that hard work was worth it. As for the honeysuckle, I have quite a few. It's either mildew or aphids that get mine. With both problems I cut them back and usually new growth starts and they flower a lot later than they should. This year its been the aphids on my large one but I take the stems back to health leaves and it usually bounces back. Such a shame isn't it as yours grew so fast and so early. If you want yo replace it I highly recommend a start jasmine trachelospermum jasminoides. They are ever green and will cover that area brilliantly. They take about 3 years to get going but well worth it. The scent is so much stronger than a honeysuckle you could always include a few clematis to cover and fill in the trellis whilst the star jasmine gets going. Love your videos even though I don't grow much veg. Just 1 courgette plant and tumbling tomatoes this year for me

      @annieskitchengarden818  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Morning Davena,
Thank you so much for your suggestions....I think mildew is the main problem at the moment, particularly as we have had weeks, even months of wet weather. I'm home today (no work), so will make a concerted effort to try and help rescue my honeysuckle.
      Take care, Annie 🐞🐝🌱

Hi Annie, Do you think enough air is circulating around the base of the honeysuckle?
It appears on film that the potatoes are close. I know you said they had put on a lot of growth whilst you had been away. I am aware that some plants will deliberately emit something a hormone or similar to weaken another plant. It is very technical, I remember watching a video about sunflowers doing this. Potatoes being in the deadly nightshade family I could imagine them doing this. Just a thought. Everything looks great in the garden thanks for sharing.🐞🌻🌱

      Morning Jane,
Thank you so much!!! I found your comment so interesting... I was not aware of that, but it does make sense. We often forget how just how amazing nature is. I have been given a couple of suggestions now of what to do to help my honeysuckle recover, but I may well move the potatoes today and see if that does indeed help. So thank you again! ❤️
      Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱

I’ve got a honeysuckle that is prone to mildew and looked really awful at the end of last season so I cut it back really hard and it’s grown back and is looking really healthy so far this year. The slugs and snails have been horrendous this year, 2 of my potted dahlias got slugged in the greenhouse so I’ve brought them indoors until I’m happy they are tall enough to cope with an attack although saying that I had a 2 foot sunflower and have just gone out this morning and something has knocked or bitten off the growing tip 😢 nothing feels safe at the moment.

Morning Nicki, I'm so sorry...don't know how I missed this? 🤦‍♀️
I've cut the honeysuckle right back now, so fingers crossed it will recover.
Like you, the slugs and snails in the garden are awful this year...nothing seems to be safe. I'm out there most nights picking them off and plopping them into wheelie bin heaven!!! 😂
I hope your dahlia is fairing better now?

      Good morning Andrea,
Thank you 🙏 for subscribing, and welcome to my kitchen garden. The variety is Rambling Rose. It produces beautiful clusters of peachy pink buds, which mature into creamy white flowers in early summer. It does have a vigorous habit, so if you grow it, then you need to keep on top of it to keep it contained, but it is definitely worth the effort as it's summer display never disappoints!
Hope you have a restful Sunday.
