    Very well done. Would love to see the in-game costs / storage at the end. Seeing the Tana and the C2 near each other but at different costs is something to consider!

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for that feedback! I probably wouldn't show storage because that's not really useful in bounty hunting at the current point, but I do think cost is a valuable factor for folks

    • @geeklimit
      @geeklimit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WingZeroType yep, that's fair. The storage is just applicable for folks like me who don't play often but want to melt down and start with a ship that can do a variety of things without growing out of it before the next reset!
      I've been away since 1.17 but had been using a 6x ballistic Tana for a little bit of everything. The sleeping bug was one reason I stopped playing, but it otherwise was a perfect all-around ship!

      @@WingZeroType I've flown most of the ships in your list. And the ones I haven't ive heard the performance of from friends.
      Most lists are done without the listmaker ever flying the ship. You can tell from your review you took the time to properly evaluate every ship here. Which makes this better than just about every other list I've seen to date. You didn't artificially push the Gladius or Arrow up higher because they are meta ships. You tested them and evaluated accordingly. Your evaluations are worthy of respect.

      @@WingZeroType you did an exclent job. The only ship i would have liked to see on the list would be the A2, but you did get tge C2 which is fairly close, i believe the A2 is toigher with slightly more firepower, just not sure if the pilot can access it.

    • @WingZeroType

      @@FrozenKnight21Yeah the A2 has a tiny bit better resistances and a lotttt more guns but the pilot only has access to the same 2xs5 hardpoints on all variants. So its miniscule but the C2 would be a tiny bit more maneuverable thanks to having less weight from all the extra turrets and guns lol.

  • @wafflesinsanity
    @wafflesinsanity ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No lie, you are one of the few who recognize the power of the Tana. It has the beefiness of a medium fighter, at the cost of a light fighter. Crazy quick claim speed, interior with a shoilet, weapon rack, and beds. Not to mention the unique second seat for a gunner, (if they ever fix the turret issue right now. The gunner used to have control of all 4 weapons at the same time when in remote view, alas, the Reliant is the red headed step child.) the benefit of this turret seat is the gunner has a 270 degree view and can shoot in all directions, the pilot can quick swap the view of the turret from top to starboard or bottom to port. From that location, the gunner can also fire missiles as well, and can even fire them backwards. Its one of few ships its size that have an almost 360 degree range for engagement AND can fire missiles backwards.
    Just a small correction for the Razor variants. You mentioned the weaker hull of the Razor LX, but you also stated all 3 variants only have one shield. The LX actually has 2 size 1 shields, it only comes equipped with one, but if you upgrade the power supply, you can add a second.
    edit: Just another note regarding the C2, its flight model is bugged, its not meant to fly so well in Atmo, the devs have reported on that a few times. If you don't believe it, the ship weighs 3 times what the Caterpillar weighs, and the Caterpillar feels and moves slower. This is due to the fully laden tech they implemented about 3 years ago and never reverted. The C2 will get a similar treatment soon.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yessss Tana love! I have been harping about the reliants to anyone who'll listen for a while now lol. I didn't know that about the turret gameplay, I mostly play solo so i never really get a lot of experience with turrets, thats pretty cool actually. And I thought the Razor LX had it's second shield fixed? I don't own one in 3.19 so i can't tell for sure, but I know it had two shields back in 3.17. I jsut thought it was fixed. Thanks for the correction! And i definitely didn't know that about the C2, thats good to know and I'm actually very happy to hear that, b/c as it currently stands there's no real reason to use a Cat over a C2 (at least until they rebalance them or get modularity in the game).

    • @wafflesinsanity
      @wafflesinsanity ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WingZeroType Well, hopefully with the advent of Tractor Beams we may see the Cat have some advantages over the C2 since the C2 doesn't have any tractor beams. If the beams on the Caterpillar can lift 32 SCU containers, the Cat would fit 17.6 of the 32 SCU containers. Whereas the C2, without vehicle beams, will be relegated to the hand held beams (or vehicle beams if the Mule or ROC/ROC DS get a tractor beam, please CIG).
      As far as we know, the multi tool is now a size 0 tractor beam, and will be limited to 1 SCU, as for the FPS beam, it could be anywhere from 2 SCU to 4 SCU if I had to guess (if the multi tool is size 0, the FPS tractor should be size 1, which also happens to be the size of the tractor beams on the Cutty, Nomad, and C1 as of what we know now, subject to change.) so the Nomad can load the 4SCU boxes with its 4x3x2 grid.
      Thus the C2 would be limited to the multi tool at 1 SCU or the FPS tractor at, lets assume 6 SCU (the average of 4 to 8). at 696 SCU this would require 116 movements. compared to the Caterpillar's 17.6 rounded to 18 movements for a full load. We are talking moments to minutes in comparison for Cargo.
      This would be one card in the favor of the Cat, which... isn't much as the C2 has so many more cards in its hand, but hey, its something lol. Sorry for the long explanation. I love your content!

    • @wafflesinsanity
      @wafflesinsanity ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WingZeroType Also, may I ask why you compare the Tana and Buccaneer to medium fighters despite CIG marketing them as light fighters? I guess to me the balance is the shields, no s2, not medium IMO.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wafflesinsanity I like your reasoning, the only thing I'd change is I'd round the containers down a bunch, since the cargo of the cat is split into a bunch of sections. Since 32 SCU cargo containers won't mold to fit the sections of the caterpillar, you'll probably have a bunch of open sections left in the caterpillar, so you'd probably get something more like 14 32 SCU containers due to the gaps. Also, thanks! I really appreciate you checking out my videos and giving me your thoughts. This is why I do it :D

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wafflesinsanity For me it's the capacitor levels. Light fighters have a capacitor regen pool worth 4500, medium fighters have 5500, and heavies have 10,000. If you didn't call s1 shields medium fighters, then the hornet and glaive would be light fighters, which doesn't really make sense. And if you require s2 shields for medium, what becomes the distinguisher for heavies? it can't be number of shields, b/c the hurricane has 1 s2 shield and it's a heavy fighter. So I really do think that the capacitor amount is the best way to gauge it, since it directly relates to the firepower of the ship and everything else more or less follows along.

    I think the Ion deserves to be higher up the tier list in all honesty.
    There is nothing in VHRT bounties that the Ion can't hit with ease, save perhaps the Hurricane which can be admittedly tricky.
    But beyond the Hurricane, the Ion makes short work of any of the targets you're faced with. It's decently maneuverable making tracking and evasive maneuvering fairly simple, can tank hits quite well, and doesn't need to restock on ammo saving money and time.
    I'd personally put it up in B at a minimum, but probably even A tier in all honesty. I'm generally in and out within a minute or so of arriving at the bounty location.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts. I want to love the Ion so badly, I even had it pledged for a while. But I don't personally think it makes its way up there. I'm making this list for the average player who's looking into getting into bounty hunting with various ships and I'm comparing all the ships against each other. The Ion is extremely powerful in its dps and its missile loadout but its got sluggish handling and it's definitely difficult to aim. It requires using a different aiming muscle memory than literally every other ship in the game. If you fly the Ion A LOT then yes, you've probably gotten good at compensating for the lack of aim assist and the offset targetting, but it requires a bunch of effort to make it effective whereas the ships that I've put in the A-tier felt much more effortless and consistent for me.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words and the feedback. I left it off the list because it'd be low D tier and it's not really a fighter in any case. I wanted to keep all of the starter ships on the list so that newer players know what kind of performance they can expect from their ship (and how big of an upgrade other ships might be for them). And yeah, I kept the racers on there as well since people use them for combat thanks to their incredible maneuverability and small size. Unfortunately the MSR isn't particularly maneuverable or tanky for its size, especially when you consider the types of enemies you'll be going against in a VHRT (tanky enemies with really high turreted dps that can auto-track you). So it'd get lit up really fast. And then add on top of that it has really low pilot-controlled dps, and thats why I've left it out. I might cut out the racing ships for the next update if they're still low performing. It's hard to figure out where to draw the line, and I don't own most of these ships so it takes me a considerable amount of time to grind for them in-game after a patch wipe so I try to focus on the most likely candidates. I still appreciate the feedback though, and a few others have asked about the MSR so maybe I should include it next time (if the funds allow) lol

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes I absolutely plan to. 3.20 changed the most stuff with the new enemy ships but it also brought shield holes to many ships which is actually a big deal. I've been hoping they fix the shield holes so that I could do a list that wasn't completely invalidated by a single bug (since these lists take me FOREVER to make, as you might expect). I was just out of the country for 10 days on holiday but now that I'm back and I'm hearing good things about the latest patch stability i'll start my testing of all the combat ships in the latest patch and hopefully have an update in the next month or two. Basically you want much higher dps now if you're doing single VHRTs, and you don't mind having slightly lower dps if you're doing group VHRTs, since 2 of the 3 targets in group VHRTs will be relatively quick kills. The issue is right now with the shield holes the massive ships with the mega dps are also a bit brittle since their shields don't tank all the damage... hence me hoping for a fix lol

      the maneuvering is atrocious but it can definitely get its guns on the target. you need to control your initial engagement and make sure you're not closing distance to the enemy too quickly. And using the up-strafe while pitching is really helpful in getting more time on target. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it's been performing for me in 3.19. For my sentinel I change out the missile racks to 481 for a total of 32 Taskforce missiles. Firing 4 at a time they can rip the wings and guns off a Hurricane 70% of the time and every now and then they'll 1 shot Hurricanes and Valks. I don't use the EMP to take down the shields per se. I use the lasers to take down a shield face and then pop EMP as they fly past. If the EMP hits the bare hull it actually disables the shield generator for a few mins leaving them completely vulnerable.. Only works on Valks and smaller though. But its a great way to keep their shields out of the fight.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't really had it work on valks or wardens but I have had the EMP work on hurricanes, they have a competition grade powerplant which makes them susceptible i suppose. I've used so many different kinds at this point I have a hard time keeping them straight. I'll be doing a bunch of missile testing soon though but i'm curious, the taskforce missiles are EM right? I've had issues with EM missiles missing if I fire them from farther than 4k away, it just seems like they never track the enemy at all. Have you had that issue? What range and speed do you fire the missiles at?

    • @cyvan1750
      @cyvan1750 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think I have a recording of a Hurricane and/or Valkyrie getting one shot by 4 taskforce somewhere. I found them more effective than Rattlers. I swapped over to the Typhoon 9s and they’ve ALWAYS seeked out the target and kills the hammerheads 100% of the time. They are the 2nd fastest size 9 but the speed difference is almost identical to the Seekers 9s.
    Just do yourself a favor and use Typhoon 9s. I’ve even shot them at a distance so even if they hammerheads start shooting at them, they are too fast for the HH’s to even react. No need to do drivebys

    saw this yesterday, wanted to respond to a few comments but bed log was needed. in the previous comment i replied why i think the tarus is current S+ tier, and will continue to do so even with the additon of blades in future because of tractor beam with VHRT fast looting. being closer to 790credit per hr not 490credit per hr as a solo ship. especially being the best ship in the game.
    but the part i wanted to add was this. the ion and inferno are drawn as same size ships but the ion is actually large medium, where the inferno is small large. and tho the armor reductions and not in game yet, that will be more signifigent between the pair later on. but as is for current with mass haul hp. and servers doing odd haul reporting at times. first time since over a year and half of ownerships the inferno has had engines break off the ship. NOT COOL... the ares are practically unflyable without 1 of their engines. so not only ontop of the mass adjustments for hull hps, but the ships are currently breaking more than should, the weapons have been reduced in rages significantly, the ion and gatling rof have been reduced and offset, and the weapon sizes were changed from S9 to S7's which also dramatically effects ranges. the inferno use to engage at 1200-2400m with a max range of 4800m and able to hit large+cap ships at 3200m with its unique gatling spread. now as current, the alpha damage is less, and those ranges were reduced too 2250m, so being a gatling it has an effective spead range at 750-1350m. so it went from 2250m avg for x< large ships too 950m ranges.
    so the ares ion and inferno have less hp, their armor isnt being calculated currently, and their alpha damage has been reduced, and their ranges went from 2250m avg to 950m avg. and their breaking now. so with all things considered the aries heavy fighters have fallen not from A+ to C+ but A+ to D- as current state of the game. just wanted to put that out there.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I'm not grading the ships on what they are vs what they used to be, i'm grading them on relative performance vs what all the other ships are currently capable of in the game. Also I never knew they had 4800m range, but honestly against most VHRT targets you won't hit your shots at 2.8k, much less at 4.8k. I think the missiles is what takes the ships up to the c tier, without them I agree they'd be D tier because the offset of the guns makes them so hard to aim, and the ships are so much more sluggish than they used to be.

    • @nemesisfaust
      @nemesisfaust ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WingZeroType reason i ranked them lower is because their breaking apart a lot more, ship stability and reliability is Ctier and above... if the ship falls apart easily (like a cutlas) that is immediate D tier! and that is exactly now the aries ships are reacting currently (when suppose to be heaviest armored fighter with A10warthog style gun on the inferno aka the tank killer).
      the offset aim as a fixed isnt so bad once you get use to it, but the weapon down grades, and the last year all gun range nerfs alone hurt the aries from the last VHRT rating hard.
      and being a large ship with no additional ammo for the infero... the S7 gatling doesnt have sustained fighting doing VHRT or idirus strafes back to back to back as it did as a S9 with previous years ranges. and reason for nerfs was because the ions over popularity as a large medium vs the infernos small large. so dont get me wrong, i think the changes for the ion is spot on. and if where if going to run a lot of S2 missiles might as well run a constellation anyway. so there has been so much things upsetting about the inferno threw the past year, is why i crunched mine. and making her slow and vulnerable like a cutlas was my breaking point. as i prefer not to own a D tier or lower ship! despite loving the look, idea, and design of the inferno too. so sad days for inferno owners. and more power to them to hold and wait for armors and blades for shield bonuses and weapon overcharging ect. but for myself, these last few updates with her breaking was the last straw with no remedial fixes, and i waited 3 patches too. and no bueno, no go! ERTs will make more than VHRTs, that is true. The issue is that you have significantly less variety in ships that can efficiently do ERTs to beat the level of income you'd generate with VHRTs. VHRTs are much more widely applicable to most folks then since the ships that are best at ERTs are the torpedo bombers and the 600i. For the rest of 3.22, this list is mostly accurate - the main things I'd change are moving the prowler and the Ares ships higher (Ares is S-tier, prowler is probably A-tier with ballistics), and adding the new ships to the list. San Tok Yai is probably A-tier, spirit series is C-tier, and F8C is S-tier.

    the Hawk in a VHRT???? it's EMP is for crap over anything bigger than itself and the DPS is very questionable for a VHRT. i would have actually put the Talon in place of the hawk using 2 AD4B with 1150 shots each and just foil the wings, you close your hit box and lose no agility.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i agree about folding the talon wings in to make your life easier, but I disagree about the AD4Bs being a good loadout for the Talon for VHRTs, you're going to have to repair every 1-2 bounties that way, whereas the hawk can definitely handle itself with a competent pilot. If you're finding success with the Talon, I would be surprised if you coudln't find more success with the Hawk, while adjusting your playstyle for the less agile ship (but with significantly more dps).

Early on in the testing for 3.19 I was enjoying doing bounty salvage but then they nurfed what you could sale the guns and such for. Now I am debating on getting the vanguard or the Andromeda. I have had a Vanguard in the past and loved it. I am guessing the Andromeda requires less skill to do well than a Vanguard. The Vanguard though looks like it would be more fun.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a bunch! And yeah I agree, the cutty/freelancer both took a hit this patch since they're not quite tanky enough to account for their size/speed in an outnumbered combat situation. And about vanguard vs connie, I think they both require different kinds of skill. The Andromeda is tankier and has higher dps but it's harder to get your guns on target, so aiming at something like a hurricane requires more ability to control the inertia of the ship and really timing your shots. The Vanguard is much more agile than the connie but it's much squishier, and in an outnumbered bounty situation you're definitely on the clock and need to land your dps quickly otherwise your shields will go down and you'll have to disengage and try again. So it sort of depends what type of gameplay you enjoy more. The vanguard does benefit from being about half the cost though (after fittings are considered)

    • @vonrosphe3098

      Unfortunately the redeemer turrets also have issues with getting damaged and stopping functionality. That said, the Redeemer is generally better multicrewed as long as you're against heavy fighters thanks to the two turrets that have 2xs5 each, plus the ship has twice the shields of a constellation (although the turrets breaking is usually due to ballistic/missile damage that passes through shields). @@TheBigSadNut You're totally welcome! I'd probably say the hurricane and the Redeemer, thanks to the immense dps of both of them and the capability to be tanky in different ways. Probably the A2/M2/C2 as well, in that order (since the A2 gets s5 hardpoints on the turrets). I love constellations too but I think the turret on the connie is probably not quite strong enough, even though the rest of the connie's outfit is pretty dang good, so maybe it gets honorable mention. The scorpius has higher dps than the hurricane actually, but it has worse acceleration and it's less tanky thanks to it's much larger cross section, so that'd be one that I think needs some actual seat time to judge whether or not the dps of 8xs3 weapons is good enough to kill the enemy before you get taken out :D

      @nemesisfaust ปีที่แล้ว +2

      theres been a lot of distaste for the conny lower turret mounts, that visibility is minimal from the seated positions with legs and chair consuming 50% of the aimed field of fiew. where the aqulia variant only has a lower gunner because the top is a long range scanner, which is nice for explorations, but not nice for combats. also the ship isnt so heavy in mass she cant fly in inverted orbital positions. alot of people like the new dome design of the aqulia variant saying its their favorite. i disagree. the rebars of the domb is 2 times larger than the other variants and actually takes up more field of vew. granted, the twin bars on the other ships being so close together makes is difficult at times when maneuvering rapidly threw astroid fields for some bounties or other missions ect. but the actual view of larger lower pannels helps you track ground landing positions, as well as the small top bar helps you see where the top turret line is on that variant of ship.
      something else about the constellation is this. the top beds dont work, so can only crew 2 for log outs, also below the bottom bed has vise leaf clipping, and the space is drawn inside the ship. this is bad for 2 reasons. 1 its open portal hole in the ship that creates lower fps while within the ship, so when server fps drops you can really notice when the servers are starting to dumb and 30k. some people like this as a precurser to stop what you are doing and bed log before you loose your shipment, or items ect. others dislike it because it is a combat disadvantage. and this is for all constellation variants.
      something else, every variant tho not specified has a p52 or p72 merlin snub fighter attached to it, where only the andromida has the newer p72 combat fighter. and can only swap components from the ship manifest with the andromida. the bad point about this. it creates a rear hole in the ships shield zone. so if an arrow or something tinny manages to get right behind you, they are doing haul damage even with lazer repeaters. not cool. also, if you turn on the sub fighter its tinny hull and shields become targetable, and aiming at it can sometimes bug and cause rounds to fly threw the constellations killing components and players ect. ntm if the merlin's die, then explode and do damage and kill your constellations. for this reasons, i find tho not the best thruster setup or weapons loadout at base. you can upgrade the tarus, where the longer bed is nice for storing a rover + found tiems or boxes and hauling items. i do not recommend storing 2 rovers, or a rover and roc, or a rover and fury, or 2 furys in the tarus. tho they fit, the ship becomes very slow like a turtle. the added bonus is the tarus cargo drop bed isnt just longer but slightly wider, making it easier to load, park, exit and use the bed floor buttons to get around in the dropped cargo bed.
      so from my own personal experience, the tarus tho the cheapest of the constellation variants, she is the best... that is once you upgrade her. and the power 2s2 tractor beams will also make quick work of looting ships. making it that much more valuable when doing bounties, because you can drop the bed, get in the tractor, and loot the ships as fast as you kill them. then be on your way after. making bounty payments 2times better. so the tarus payout isnt 450k per hr, but closer to 790k per hr. making it S+ tier
      also tho the constellation ships are a large ship, they have a medium computer. tiny 0, small 1, medium 2 blade slot attachments later on. so... you could blade improve shield regen rates on the computer, and blade 1 gun. then all slots are filled. this is a better future concept as well, because the andromeda, has 2 turret guns, it has a coms copiolet chair and missles/scanning chair. but no drive or shield terminals, this means you cant assign an ai to manage these components. but if you wanted to assign an ai to a gun you could, but if getting 1 ai for a turret you might as well have 2 ai for turrrets. then do 1 blade as shield regen, and 1 blade as power, because more guns and more shields means more capasitor usage. so operations of a fully manned andromeda with blades and ai cost far more than the tarus. meanwhile the tarus can loot the kills faster and still use 2 blades in future for 1 man crew with piolet and that is future, when blades come out.
      so tarus is best now, with least bugs, best profit ratios, loading and looting speeds, 30k warnings, and great after a few upgrades.
      meanwhile, the andromeda fully crewed needs ai+blades being a far more operational expense, and requires manual loot times which negates the bonus damage shares of + 1 turret 2s2 guns. it actually earns far less credit per hr, because of fast looting with the tractorbeam on the tarus.
      so not just now, but future as well, the tarus is the only S+ tier VHRT credit/hr

    I was wondering if there will be another tier list anytime soon :D
    Well, here are my two cents: While i'm a bit sad that the Corsair is not S-Tier, i can see your reasons. Still think it's the better ship for solo compared to the Conny though :D But that may be because i've now CCUed my (only!) ship to it, since i feel it's the best all-around and finished ship we have right now (e.g. a "return" button to return the elevator back up instead of needing to press a button on the elevator and jumping off).
    Not a big fan of the fixed ballistic loadout though. While i tried full ADBs compared to your cannons, i felt the aiming required and the slow turning/evading of the ship is too much to do both. Having a fully gimballed setup (especially as default) removes the need of aiming and gives me more time to react/evade. The only time i'd definitely go back to full ADBs would be HH/Idris as my main/only enemy.

      Yeah I also had a CCU'd Corsair for a while since I wanted to test it out for bounty hunting purposes, but I've been really bummed about its performance in 3.19 with laser weapons. I feel like the ship is way too slow to get around the enemies and Hurricanes and Wardens basically never let you see their backside, so you're just always shooting at their infinite front shield. That's what made me try the ballistic loadout, even though I think ballistics are nerfed in 3.18+ compared to before, and it actually performed pretty well. Unfortunately, it's still slow as molasses getting in and out of combat so it loses time there lol

    I must say this is a very detailed list. Now, it still bugs me rhat people think that "top speed" is so important and think that fighting above SCM speed is a good idea. Do people know what SCM speed actually means? Like "Safe Combat Maneuvering speed"?
    Except a few really good pilots, we have a whole bunch of people thinking they are good at ship combat, ignoring that the NPCs are very slow due to server performance and that speeds above SCM make it worse. I'll ignore PvP for the most part, because beside of the mentioned good pilots, PvP boils down to people thinking they are good when they actively chose to only attack weaker targets and take out non-combat ships with combat ships.
    So far the new flight modes changes look promising and hopefully put an end to the jousting nonsense.

    • @arrclyde4325
      @arrclyde4325 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more thing to add: i think that bounties will change a lot in the not so distant future. First due to being able to catch bounties alive and deliver them, second to flight modes and physical damage.
      Don't forget: the current game is incomplete with a lot of things missing. I highly doubt that VHRTs and ERTs (especially the group ones) are ment for solo pilots in small ships.
      So your tier list will change a couple of times more the closer the mechanics get to being final.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah its true, its very hard to come across equivalently skilled pilots naturally in the verse since it's such a large place with less than 100 people in it at any given time. I'm excited about master modes and hoping they bring some good changes to the game. I totally agree that everything is going to change many times in the future, but given that we have no real way of knowing when that'll happen i'll keep updating the list anytime major changes come on through so that people who aren't as familiar with the game systems or people who just want another opinion have a place to come to for a (hopefully) informed look at ship performance.
      What's your favorite system that you're looking forward to? For me, it's gotta be physicalized damage/armor. That will change the current meta completely where more guns isn't always more damage, and matching your weapon calibre to the enemy's armor level might play more of a factor.

      I remember one time where i had to disengage with my Corsair because the two wing fighters have been so quick to get onto my six and away from my front, i had to lure them away and decouple while firing back.

    So I'm a new player who bought SC awhile back but never really got into it. Don't really want to break the bank either. I played a whole lot of elite dangerous and no man's sky, realized I'm really an explorer and combat oriented never did like the mining stuff just drive to places and explore with occasional combat when I get bored off aimlessly flying. What ship would you recommend me?

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey welcome to the game! It sort of depends on how much you want to spend, and also it's important to note that exploration isn't built in the game yet as an actual career (despite there being ships "focused" in exploration). so that's a pretty big caveat since I won't really be prioritizing that in my recommendation since who knows what that'll actually need in the future. But for now, a great little ship that can get you around the verse and do some combat is the Avenger Titan. If you want to spend less than that, you could also go for a Mustang Alpha which is a more agile fighter but gives up some additional flexibility like an interior with a bed to sleep in (and log out from) and a more spacious cargo area. The Mustang Beta adds a bit of a living area (not as nice as the Titans) while keeping most of the combat capability of the Alpha, so that's another option. If you're ok to spend a bit more, the Cutlass Black is a really highly recommended ship and for good reason, it's one of the best all-rounders in the game and one of the best bang-for-bucks there is. That said, it doesn't excel at anything, but it's able to dabble in almost anything (except the specialized salvaging and mining careers).
      I think the best thing I can recommend for you before spending more money on the game is to play it a bit with whatever ship you got when you originally bought the game (the game package always comes with a ship) and see what you actually like doing. Maybe watch some gameplay videos of some of the ships I recommended and see if they suit your style and if you like their gameplay.
      One more thing worth mentioning is that the game is far from complete, and balance is constantly changing. So a ship that's good at something today might be better or worse at it tomorrow. There's a few MAJOR balance changes yet to come - the combat flight speed change (aka master modes) and the implementation of armor (and physicalized damage). Things will change greatly when each of those changes come in, but we're probably over a year out for either of them (and my best guess for armor is probably 2-3 years out).
      I'm happy to elaborate on any questions you have more if you'd like but I've already written a short novel so I'll stop blabbing now and let you decide if you want to hear more :)

I feel like if I'm going to spend $100+ I might as well save more and get an s tier ship. However the avenger is a solid option. It has a decent cargo space I can fit a small size Rover in and from what I've seen online it's a decent fighter for the price. I might actually get that! That could be a cool little starter that's not crazy expensive. I bought the game years ago and I don't really remember how much I paid originally I think it was like $25 and I got the Aurora as my starter ship. It's a cool little ship kinda ugly though. And no storage and when I flew on a planet's atmosphere something broke I can't remember what it was.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thejoyghost17haha you're welcome, and yeah I love the titan! It does have a cargo area but the only existing vehicle that can fit in the back is the PTV, which is the golf cart. It won't do too well on any sort of rough terrain. If you want to lean more towards the exploration side, you could consider the Nomad, which is also an excellent ship. It is a bit weaker for combat though, but has a nicer living area, nicer cockpit (IMO) and it has a pickup-truck-esque rear lift for cargo. The downside of that is your cargo is unprotected so if you're ever running cargo in dangerous space people can swipe it right off your ship. But the nice thing about that is that it's much less limited in what ground vehicles it can carry, since it has unlimited height and the vehicle can stick off the rear a little bit.
      One other thing to note is that if you're ok with getting rid of your aurora, you can buy what's called a Cross-chassis-upgrade (CCU) and apply that to your game package with the aurora. You basically pay the difference in value of the aurora and your target ship and that "upgrade" is delivered to your hangar on the website. Then you go to your hangar on the RSI website and "apply" that CCU to turn your aurora into whatever the upgraded ship is. Just note that the upgrades can only go in one direction, you can't un-upgrade down to a cheaper ship. They do give you the option to "exchange" your ship though, which you'll commonly see people online refer to as "melting". All that does is take all the money you put into the ship and returns it to you in RSI store credit. You can use that store credit to buy other things. Since you got the Aurora AND the game for $25, I wouldn't melt that package since the price has raised since then, but I just wanted to let you know it was possible. If this all sounds confusing and too much, just know that you can upgrade the aurora to another ship by buying that CCU and applying it on the website (don't forget to apply it!). Or... you can just buy another ship standalone, in which case the prices that you listed are probably a bit high. Since you already have the game package, you don't need to buy the game package again, so an avenger titan would be $60 (in the USA, at least). If you're in another country, the prices might be different but just wanted to ensure you knew you didn't have to buy the game package again.
      You can see the price of standalone ships and CCUs on the pledge store here: robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge
      "ships" is where you get the standalone ships and "ship upgrades" is where you can shop for CCUs. You select the "from" ship (aka your aurora) and the "to" ship (aka the titan/nomad/cutlass/whatever) and it'll tell you what the cost of the upgrade is.

But that's why I said I'd like for them to make light-medium fighter VHRTs, so that you could still make good money while using those smaller ships. I think the Banu is the best bet if you like a faster, more agile ship for VHRTs, but it will take some effort. Hurricane C tier??? LOL not possible! Hurricane and Scorp should be S by all rights.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, so much to address here. First off, thanks for giving me your feedback, I can only get better when I hear from people with different perspectives than me. For the hurricane/scorpius comment, this is a solo tier list, and they are definitely not S tier for solo play.
      For the sake of you saying all high-dps ships with size 5s should be S-tier, you can't always range kite enemies *efficiently*. Just because the 600i can very comfortably kill hammerheads doesn't mean it's the best ship, because it's slow as crap and if you're doing a group ERT or group VHRT you're going to have smaller ships to aim at that have infinite front shields. You can *definitely* get into a situation where your only shots on a ship will hit their front shield and they keep pointing and facing at you. That can get tricky. It doesn't happen a lot, but it *does* happen.
      I'm trying to figure out which ships are the most effective at doing bounties across all player styles and skill levels. I'm not trying to figure out which ships are able to do the highest level of bounties. I've done over 4 hours of group and solo VRHTs with each of these ships, the footage I picked is just what I thought was most indicative of an average player experience, or what I thought was most scenic. I'm not a top tier pilot in the game, and by definition MOST people aren't top tier. By definition, most people are average. I'm making this list for those people.
      About why I'm eating all the shots, its faster to get kills this way than to try to kite backwards, especially in slower larger ships, and especially with the smarter AI. At range, hammerheads will rotate their higher shield faces towards you so that you can't just slam through a single shield face and kill them like you used to be able to in 3.17. They don't always blindly follow you like they used to. Sometimes, but not often enough for this to be a reliable strategy in my opinion.
      As for the claim that the arrow can do ERTs without getting hit even once, I'd challenge you to show me an ERT on a moon where you're in an arrow and you complete the ERT without getting hit even once. It's easy to say in theory, thinking of the best possible scenario where the wingmen are reclaimers and you're fighting in atmo, but you're also going to get into situations where the wingmen are hurricanes and valkyries and you're in atmo, and then you WILL NOT dodge fire. Maybe you're only playing on completely full servers where the AI is dead, but I typically try to find servers where the fps is around 7-10 and there the turrets on those heavy fighters are no joke.
      You probably have a point about the Inferno though, I don't get beacons... like ever... so I can't comment because I haven't tried it, but I think the inferno would do pretty well at critical threat beacons since they're always in space so you can always disengage if you get in trouble and your fire will just pierce through shields. I probably had a run of bad luck with the ship but I kept having torps/missiles not kill hurricanes and it took me some time and effort to get kills on them. I compared my average kill times and my average income over the few hours with other ships and thats more or less where the inferno landed. It'll probably do even better come 3.20 through since they're going to decrease the spread of its gun though.
      Thanks again for your reply, you've given me some stuff to think about, but I hope a bit more of what I was thinking about makes sense after this explanation.

      Absolutely agree - it's such a fun ship to fly but you definitely need to be on your toes lol

    Where would you put the Aegis Sabre Raven on this? 2 emps, but not much firepower. It's the only ship I have, working on bounty stuff and new to the game. So far, fun.

      It's wild to me that it's the only ship that you have. You know how much that goes for on the black market, right? lol.
      Either way, congrats and welcome to the game! Sorry for the super delayed response, real life got super crazy for me. But unfortunately as you might expect, the Sabre Raven isn't really much of a combat ship on paper. I haven't ever flown one due to how crazy rare and expensive they are so I couldn't tell you from experience if it outperforms its statistics, but it seems it'd really struggle to chew through the large shields that are on the more lucrative bounties in 3.22 to land the EMPs against the hulls, and even after that it'd take forever to chew through the hulls with only 2xs3 guns. I'd have to say most likely in the D-tier, but this is just speculation for me

    Seeing you responding to comments on a video from 8 months ago is amazing. Also you answering the questions about "is the list still up to date?" then providing answers about new placements on the tier list is huge, thank you for your continued work.

      Thanks a bunch - I really appreciate the kind words :) This is all definitely a labor of love for me. I really enjoy this space game and want to help others bridge the knowledge gap so that they can get maximum fun out of it too :D

    how does the defender perform in 3.23, and would it be better or worse than a san'tokyai? was thinking about CCUing from a defender to a san'tokyai

      They're both about the same I'd say. The STY has a better capacitor and a lot more missiles which helps it put out more dps but the defender is a smaller target and feels a bit more stable when partially damaged. If I had multiple ships I'd probably go for the STY but if I didn't I'd probably go for the defender since it also has an interior and a bed, whereas the STY is just a seat in the cockpit and nothing more.
