    Just ordered a Gladiator 8” chef knife and the Gladiator paring knife using your code and saved $8. Thanks man.

    Hope you're doing well. I've enjoyed listening to your review, especially since the Husbeast just gifted me a gorgeous 7" Shogun Santoku.

    I recently bought my first Dalstrong knife. I picked up the 8" version of The "Crixus" in the Shogun series. I was holding my breath a little. I don't mind paying $150 for a knife if it's a good knife, but this being my first Dalstrong, I was buying on faith. I was NOT disappointed. That thing shaved the hair off my arm (with ease), straight out of the box. I thought my Wusthof was sharp when it was new, but this thing makes the Wusthof look like a butter knife (not knocking Wusthof, I still love that knife, the Dalstrong Shogun series Crixus is just a whole 'nother level of sharp). Maybe it's because of the shallower grind from being a Japanese style knife, I'm not sure... but I can't overstate enough that it is insanely sharp, right from the factory. I haven't had it long enough to know how well the edge will hold over time, but cutting with it feels amazing. The Damascus blade is absolutely beautiful, too, which is an awesome perk. I would recommend Dalstrong to my own mother, without even hesitating. Sorry I rambled on so long, just stumbled onto your video today and wanted to add a second to your opinion on Dalstrong. 👍

    I can vouch for the 6 in. Nakiri in the phantom series. I put it thru its paces 5 days a week. Beautiful style too

    Awesome info. Don't think im at the culinary level to justify buying the varity of knives; but I might start with kirisuke or gyuto.

    Thanks for the video. I am waiting for a delivery from Amazon on about 8 knives. I didn’t realize the different sets are different quality (until I saw this video). Please do more vids on these Dalstrong knives. I’m gonna purchase more. Thx, Eric Wood

    Funny how you mentioned you’ll know if you got the right one. If it makes you feel like a bad ass. Like you can do anything. I recently found Dalstrong. I got my first purchase Friday. The 8” Shogun Chef/Cleaver. I unwrapped it and held it. OMG!!! I’m Carnivore. So I was inspired to go to Costco and by a while rib eye roast and cut it up and age it at home. And believe me I’m no chef.

    Thanks for more great info, Shane. I had never heard of Dalstrong until buying the Grilla but I need an excuse to need another knife to try them. I have tried several of the Japanese handle type knives and not yet found one that feels good in my hand but an always looking. I don't understand enough about steel to grasp the difference chemically but I do understand when I use one and feels good and holds a good edge. I am so glad that you keep emphasizing that a knife is a personal purchase that has to work for you. When I travel and will be cooking I take my own knives because it's that personal to me that a knife meets my needs and is above all sharp. Keep giving out the good info!

    I used their Honesuki for two months and now I have two of them because it broke cleanly into two pieces.
    The tang is welded onto the blade and the weld broke!

    I use the Gladiator series in my kitchen. Affordable, sharp and just works well. My only knock on the series is the bolster makes it harder to sharpen using a wet stone. Sign up on line at the Dalstrong site to receive discounts and special offerings. Best customer service ever.

    Actually I would like to say that they are great for their prices....and they should be Skoda, Seat, Toyota :))........Ferrari is a bit far fetchet for Dalstrong!
    But they are good knives.

    How has that arm laying there not gotten cut up?? Especially when he started tossing knives on top of other knives (not something a real knife guy would do).

    • @PitmasterShaneD
      @PitmasterShaneD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's not like the knives are self-propelled...the arm was plenty safe. The knives werent "tossed" edge side down. They landed flat. I promise you I'm as real as they come and knives are tools not crown jewels and get treated as such.
