he used a lacquer spray. it's basically clear spray paint and hermercraft has made a full video on how to use it th-cam.com/video/tdldnUd9AcU/w-d-xo.html . I love your builds btw! keep them coming.

Laquer spray, make sure you apply glue to your model (elmer’s) or else it will make your model soggy
