- I give a review, walk-around and demo of my Multitek 1610 firewood processor. If you are considering buying your first firewood processor watch this first. I give some insight on things I didn't even realize until actually owning and running one. I wish I watched a video like this before I bought my firewood processor.

Can't wait to see what they have changed through the years. They have a plastic shield. Changed the controls. You have the live deck. Still has the top drive motor that cuts the break in the chain that holds up the chute. Went with the diesel engine. I love the open design. So all the woodchips don't get caught in everything. I like the bigger feet. They didn't have that before. Still haven't upgraded the log marker. The log clamp is still the same. Gog chain drive is still the same. (Good clean wood helps with a sharp chain.) The ram is still the same. Wedge is still the same. (Gotten a lot of wood on jobs stick in the wedge.) You can get a steep angle on the wood. Depends on how wet or dry the wood is. Lots of this is still the same. Still haven't changed the ball jack. Yeah, that can be a pain in the...cleaning out the wood chips. So the same problems as before with wood chips. I've never had a problem with the valve blocks/controls. On average I could cut 10 cords of wood in a day with 2 people. If your good. You go through it as you go cutting off all the funky stuff to keep everything moving. (Different start up panel.) The belt is still the same. There are so many other little things I could get into. At the time. 24 + for the base model. No live deck. No diesel engine.
I bought a Built-Rite in 2008. I’m in NY as well and their shop is only about 100 miles from me. Have over 3000hrs on it and no problems except for the usual wear and tear. Warn hoses and a few broken welds. Their multi wedge system sold me on it. Been a great machine
They were one of the brands I considered when deciding which processor best suited what I wanted to do.

Pretty impressive. I wonder if the splitter ram should have a metal cover that moves with it so that an out of sequence log falls down, it can still retract

Your chain lasts because you are keeping it out of dirt. It’s amazing how much longer they last… I cut everything up off the ground and keep logs out of dirt and it makes a huge difference with chain life…

Those little heim joints that you broke on that valve are available at ace hardware if you have them in your area. Dealer wanted 40 something each and I found a better quality version for 12 each. Granted it was for my backhoe but same design, mine failed at 200 hours due to corrosion.

The straighter the wood and less dirty makes a difference I like the round wood 🪵 for the all nighter in my stove . And when buying wood by the pulp cord I go look at it . But nice video 😊
Just cut the ibc tote top and put them under there to collect the saw dust so it’s easy to pull out- you can build a gram to pull it in and out easily as well.
I think most machines struggle to direct the saw dust correctly!

Also I think you need to make an adjustment on your conveyor belt it’s definitely riding way too far to the left your can see the roller on the right side
That hitch on the bucket is cool. Haven’t ever seen that
I believe it was from Titan Attachments online. It's very handy, way better than having to switch off the bucket.
I have this same machine that I use for personal use. I started with a wood beaver 18, which is mad by multitek now.. really like the 1610 for ease of working on it…. Oh and I live in Wisconsin so the factory is not that far..
That's a good deal being so close to the manufacturer for you.
Talk to the manufacturer about the rear chip discharge and all your other problems they may have a fix for them
Thanks for the review. I understand that this is an entry level processor. The limitations as I watched appear to be
-Lack of auto recycle for the splitter
-Very slow splitter cycle time
-Awkward access to the buck waiting to be split or discarded shorts
Yes, you made a good point that I never mentioned, the accessibility to grabbing those shorts from the splitter area is kind of awkward, also changing chains: you have to get your entire body in there, not everyone could get in there.
@@laboredinvain3252 make a stick with a hook for jammed logs, or metal bar?
For the handle not returning by itself underneath there is a adjustment for the detent if you start by loosening it a 1/4 turn that should fix the problem might need to back off more then 1/4 but start with that it’s not returning because the detent is too tight I’ll try to remember to send u a pic of where it is I have a 1620bc and a Timberwolf alpha 6

i would instantly have swapped over the deck and conveyor functions to get the levers to make sense

You mentioned how much of a nuisance it is clear saw dust and debris from under the processor. Here's a couple of suggestions that will reduce time and effort for this task. Use IBC tote tops cut to be shallow enough to fit under the processor. You can attach a pull rope to the IBC tops and pull them out like a sled. The other trick is lay down tarps to catch the refuse. The tarps may be cheaper and a pull to the tarp as well. Let me know which method you choose to use. 😅
That Ibc tote top idea is solid. A piece of plywood is marginal with bobcat.

Nice Processor, we looked at all of them, The Halverson 120, allows me to process in quite comfort in most all weather, and a small footprint in storage. Take Care 🪵🚜👍🏼🇺🇸
Yes I did consider the Halverson attachment for skid steer before buying the multitek. One thing I just couldn't get past was that for larger diameter logs the splits would just be too big for me and need further splitting. It's like anything it's all about application for the individual user.
Just a suggestion on your tongue you good make a bracelet for the longer stuff . Like a y bracelet sits over the tongue .
How much wood do you run through this machine. In that time also what maintenance costs have you incurred. Thanks for the in depth review. I am looking at this processor right now.
Was only about a hundred hour machine at time of video. Only regular maintenance stuff at that point. Checkout my other video with this machine in use.
Ita hard for me to believe how much the cost of a processor has come up in the last 10 years and with so much competition my dyna was 48.000 new 10 years ago a new one is like 80.000 now they are nicer and faster now but wow 32.000 more back then you could get a SC-14 30.000 If you are going to spend 80k on a SC-16 check out the eastonmade processor about 105.000 for the for this processor but you get so much more for the money. If they was making this processor 10 years ago I my have had 1 it is nice

Have you ever heard of chomper from Rainier industry? It's a shear, can be auto matic. You feed it and leave it.
Not sure if I've seen those or something like it, but they are incredible.
I priced one of these about two weeks ago. They are significantly more now but are a quality machine. Great vid, keep it up!

In most State.. Anything that weighs over 1500 pounds.. Has to have electric brakes. If it's going on public roads.

I found a used one and I also have a dealer close by to support me if needed for parts etc. I did end up getting it and so far after a short test of a dozen cords it is a good producer of wood. Well made, fast, efficient and safe.

Yes, I have a culvert ditch on the one side that needs to be continued underground with a culvert pipe. Good eye!

I am aware of three different firewood processors made in Europe. They look better to me than the US processors.
I am bullish on the firewood market.
I checked your channel for the location but did not see it. Thank you. I have seen large-scale firms in Canada. Perhaps that is how they do it there.
@@jakebredthauer5100 The european processors are for small wood and birch try running oak and elm they slow way down and can only handle small diam wood.The usa made units are made for bigger diam wood .

You give an incisive evaluation I had not heard of. You may be right. Japa has 7 ton, and Posch, 12 ton, on their 14 inch models, which is much less than the USA does. Choosing one is difficult.
Of course, I speculated for a reason and thought the North American engineers were less competent due to less experience. As I understand, you say European firewood trees are a different size and species.
I am located here where we don't put PTOs on processors. Is that because we no longer use small tractors? I don't know that either. They offer electric motors too.
Ships are being unloaded too slowly. May be an issue.
No doubt the manufacturers have an explanation. I don't know what their explanation is. I suppose I could ask how well their processor does on Oak and Elm.
Regarding diameter, I figured to discriminate against large wood in a market in another state that I am not sure about.
Thank you for the explanation. I am judging you as being one with a strong affiliation with the production aspect of the industry. You say the diameter and tonnage is too little to want to ship them across.
Japa has one or more box-wedge models that may mitigate the tonnage issue but the wood is more damaged and price is high.
That reminds me of another difference: price.
Common sense would indicate the difference in machines is due to the difference in trees. How likely is it that no makers here will do the European style, if that style is appropriate here? If we have tougher trees, we pay more.
@@andrewslagle1974 They like to cut their firewood shorter so that would probably help the small processors also. If I cut the wood shorter, might help.
