    The Chameleon is a full-featured hammock designed from the ground up. Each of the components that go into the Chameleon have been developed by us to create a versatile and modular light weight hammock that adapts to its environment. Because you can remove and change out components, the Chameleon will be the only hammock you will ever need.
    12ft Chameleon uses all the regular Chameleon accessories.
    Peace, Dutch

    Ive had this out a few times now, and can say without a doubt that it is the favorite in my collection. Im looking at ordering the pole modded net, and sidesling, and ordered the Onewind Penumbra as a 13' hot tent/tarp to cover it. Gonna buy a few D Rings from Dutch also to add them to the tarp and try the double internal pole mod.

    Well; I guess I’ll be buying another hammock from Dutchware. This will be # 4.

      I have a 12 foot, very wide hammock from another cottage vendor and it has no calf ridge at all...after 5 years of use. All my shorter hammocks do have calf ridge problems happening. I think 12 foot is the sweet spot for a great nights sleep. I say go for it!

      Also, go with the strong material like Hexon 1.6 or higher to get a super flat lay.

      All he did was lengthen an existing hammock by a foot…he didn’t make wine from water

    • @Hangs4Fun
      @Hangs4Fun ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rgmALC actually, the lengthening was the easy part yes.
      The part that I was referring to that he was able to get the same zipper system in place so that we can still use all of our existing Chameleon accessories like top covers, Side cars. Etc.. believe me if you have ever tried to make a hammock with a completely unzippable top, that in itself is difficult ( a zippered top that stays on, no problem, but a zippered top that not only comes completely off, but also allows modular use and "stacking" of zippered accessories, MUCH more difficult.. case in point the Chameleon was the first to do that and required a special designed zipper requiring a Patent, even YKK didn't and doesn't have it, they had to use Dutch's patent on that Vision zipper ) we are talking this zipper has to be manufactured DOWN TO THE TOOTH or it won't work.
      Now take all that, and change the size that the mention zipper system was designed for and still make it work yet still function is actually quite impressive.
      I wish more people understood more of the details that goes into these type of American made products. There's quite a lot of innovation, ingenuity, Engineering, patents, custom made materials, fabrics, and special machines and skills that are required to produce.
      I've been a fan a long time of Dutches, so I am obviously going to be biased here. Have a great day :-)

      @@Hangs4Fun more fabric was added at the peaks to allow bug nets from the normal width chameleon. I mean it’s nice that we have a 12’ chameleon now, but again, he didn’t make the Eiffel Tower disappear

    also... no spreader bar version of the top cover?
    for that matter since you've added a pole: what about a top cover that is also a rain fly to eliminate a separate tarp/ reduce weight. needs to be a little wider, so you can add a drip-edge, with an entry-side vestibule/porch to remove wet clothes

    You hobbled the design by trying to make it backward compatible with the 11' hammock top covers. Huge mistake.

      @colemichaels3159 ปีที่แล้ว

      how?

    • @checkavilatility
      @checkavilatility ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colemichaels3159 Geometry. The fabric has to go and curl up the sides of the hammock to reach the net. This results in a smaller hammock. Defeats the purpose of having a larger hammock. Making it compatible was a benefit to themselves and a drawback to the customers.

      @@checkavilatility I have no idea what youre talking about. I own 11' and 12' Chameleons and you can still tell you are in a 12' hammock with the Chameleon accessories attached. Its doesnt feel smaller in any way shape or form. As a matter of fact, when i added the spreader bar bugnet, it feels absolutely massive inside.
