    I'd like to see some cast lead bullets. I remember when you tried them before they were slightly oversized. Maybe if you size them down to .308" maybe there won't be any or as much lead build up. Just my two cents, do with it what you will.

    Since you are back to the light (cheap) subsonics... The solution is (drumroll) - seat 'em low. I've been working 168gn TipMK and 155gn Amax while you were hunting. The typical COL for Vmax or NosVarm is 2.05 (or even lower?). Seating the Amax to 2.05 and TMKs to 2.1 will get you to 80-90% (from 60% fill). Conversely, don't seat those Nosler BTips so low for supersonic - Accurate seats them to 2.15 for more speed.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll give that a shot! Sounds like a good idea.

    • @agrippa2k469
      @agrippa2k469 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oops meant 2.15 on the Tipped MKs, and 2.05 for the AMax. You could go down to 2.1 and 2.0, but they will be funny looking enough already. It is worth noting the "published" data for Nosler 125gn Ballistic Tips puts them down to 2.05. This is odd as Western (Accurate) has 2.165 COL. Accurate resists compression past 106%, maybe CFE BLK can be compressed more.

    Looking forward to trying out the CFE BLK in my 7.62 x 39 as nobody carries AA1680 around here anymore. It will probably be cheaper as well.

    Did you do any testing with the Sierra 210gr. BTHP That Bullet is longer than the BLK case. Accurate 1680 14.8 gr. Is about the max amount of powder you can use and still have a. Bullet case combo that will fit the Lancer 300 blk magazines!

    Ladybugs? Try camping in Louisiana. The farmers there put them out because they kill some other kinds of insects. I still find dead 🐞 in my trailer from row years ago!

    Hey Johnny, you think you can also do a workup with the 225gr Hornady BTHP, i ask cos i just picked up a sload of them?

  • @Traderjoe337
    @Traderjoe337 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shit. I’m just about to start reloading for the first time and I bought this. I’m reloading 150gr FMJ practice stuff, but they’re supers. Should I have gotten something else for supers? I don’t have a suppressor so I shoot supers exclusively. I just want good range ammo, and 150gr is really heavy for supers so maybe this will be right in the middle?

    • @AznTacticalWI
      @AznTacticalWI 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using 150gr FMJ bullets from Hornady for plinking out of a 10.5" blackout. Using 20gr of CLE BLK I am getting a velocity of 1701fps using a suppressor. CLE BLK is probably the cleanest powder I've ever shot but it doesn't have much energy per grain. Since it's a spherical ball powder it gets all over my bench and powder dropper to. I'm getting 1" groups at 50yds using a 1-4 scope.

    I got a pretty good advice from one of the 6.5 guys channel for compressed loads. They start the bullet in the case just a bit and then shake it with a battery powered toothbrush to settled the powder a little bit. I helps with the crush. on larger case, they also tip the bullet round over to allow the powder to get around the bullet base. Can't wait to see your videos.

    I’m wanting to use this powder with the Hornady SUB-X 190gr and keep it subsonic out of a 10 inch barrel. I’m thinking 13gr will be the highest I can go staying subsonic, but I don’t want to go to low on my velocity either. Have you tried any 190 grain subsonic with the CFE-BLK?

  • @swampbiologist
    @swampbiologist 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Johnny, I am really enjoying your 300 BLK videos. I am trying to work up an accurate load for my PSA 16" upper and have been struggling getting consistency! I will test a Bullet, Powder, Primer load and get 1/2" groups at 100 yds then reload the exact load for 3 , 3 shot groups and shoot 1 1/2" groups! I'm looking for "accuracy loads" and not so concerned as much about FPS! Thanks for all your videos, you are my "Go To Guy!" The accuracy on your CFE BLK supersonic loads got me excited!

    I know this might be an odd ball request but I know they make some accelerator sabots for .223 bullets for 30 caliber guns. I haven't seen anyone try those in 300 blk. I think that be a fun and interesting test in this serious.

    Have you ever tried loading a 208 gr bullet supersonic for the sheer energy on target? I was thinking of trying a load of 13 grs of cfe over the 208 Hornady bullet. Any thoughts?

  • @FredSpeed3
    @FredSpeed3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    And for the 147 subsonics, I red somewhere that you can use trail boss for reduced loads in big cartridges (ex: Remington ultra mags) It may be worth a try. Here's from hodgedon's site www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf

      Don't plan on it cycling the bolt

    • @FredSpeed3
      @FredSpeed3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem was to much room left in the case at 1050 fps. That produced a big swing in velocity depending on powder position in the case. Anyhow, it was a simple thought. ;)

    • @thebaddest2562
      @thebaddest2562 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i use tite group and shoot reduced 556 308 loads use some poly fill to keep powder in tear of case weigh the poly fill and use the same amount on each charge but it will not cycle the bolts on semi autos but its still fun

  • @amad16z6
    @amad16z6 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    tried CFE blk with the Lee auto-drum. that's a big no go. leaks bad and inconsistent. anyone have suggestions on meters that work with small spherical powders?

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tighten the drum until it stops leaking! I will do a video in the next day or two on the subject. I will make sure to test CFE BLK in the auto-drum. I will also cover the Lee perfect powder measure, since people have the same complaint about that one.

    • @amad16z6
      @amad16z6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johnny's Reloading Bench I've tried everything. cleaned all parts with alcohol, light graphite lube job, tightening the drum, using it slow, fast, I really want this to work.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's leaking from around the drum? Getting through the tapered fit between the metal and plastic part? Or is it coming from somewhere else? It it just a few granules on the bench after a loading session or is it quite a lot?

    • @amad16z6
      @amad16z6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johnny's Reloading Bench its from around the drum. and it's alot. also very inconsistent drops. I can here crunchy scratching when it start and it gets with with every drop.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK cool. I'll see if I can recreate your problem. Should have a video up in the next day or two.

      Yes, eventually. I probably won't do any more gel tests until I buy a kit from clear ballistics or something like that. My previous gel testing with homemade gel was a mess.

    Unfortunately, if it is anything like A1680, supersonic will mean FIREBALLS with the lighter bullets. I've switched to LT-30 for subs - trying to use up 4lbs of A1680 with supers. Accurate lists A1680 as a 223 powder after all, where a 16" burn (and flames of glory) is the norm. Max speed with those 125gn BTips for will be under 2100fps.

    Sir,
    What do you think about VV powders for subsonics? Do you have a preference for which VV? N110? I was told it was very clean. Just curious since my suppressor I got is non-serviceable so I would like to not send it back often.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      N110 is definitely the one to go with. I haven't tested it yet but I have a pound in the mail right now. I should be using it in some videos that get posted over the next couple weeks.
      You will find that silencers are pretty self-cleaning. I haven't cleaned mine at all and it doesn't seem particularly dirty. Your gun, on the other hand, will be absolutely filthy all the time. It is incredible how gross a gun gets when shooting suppressed!

    I use H110 for all of my 300blkout loads. But you gotta use magnum primers for subs. I have a good bit of CFE BLK but I’ve barely used it, seems like I need to use it more
