- Classic radio's Sam Spade (HOWARD DUFF) does a special One Hour Suspense Radio episode! Written by Raymond Chandler, Casper Gutman and sidekick Cairo are just barely getting over the phony Maltese Falcon. Of course, they are again at each other's throats . . . Now Sam Spade must solve yet another other caper involving those guys. This time they're all chasing a "Kandy Tooth" (a priceless relic from ancient Egypt) Listen for a funny scene early on, as a flamer who thinks he's a dentist wants to hire Spade. The audio's been digitally restored for this One Hour of Suspense. Sure, it's kind of a "Promo" for the CBS radio series "Sam Spade." Like all of the one hour episodes, this is from 1948.
Stuff . . . . . . . and such: The voices of Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet are imitated for this "caper."
More stuff: Howard Duff was married to actress IDA LUPINO. After his acting career, Howard Duff earned a fortune with his Duff Breweries in Springfield and Capital City!

Excellent! I usually associate "Sam Spade" on radio with the voice of Howard Duff. To hear an hour long presentation with host Robert Montgomery is a special "treat."
That's great! It's always good when you find a "new" episode! The other day I found a Twilight Zone TV one hour episode I'd never seen! It was great

Well you can tell Chandler directed this since it does feature a cameo by HIS detective Philip Marlowe,
An interesting little “crossover” and a nice little show.
But strange Phillip Marlow is in San Francisco when he is a Los Angeles private eye.

My husband and i in shutdown now 10 months on Elgin IL. The infection rates are climbing daily. The 2 hospitals are full. ICU is full. Sam Spade and maybe Richard Diamond?, if you have him, as well, are a GREAT fun reliever. We need a giggle.
