Best adaptation of this book ever!
Agree. I loved this film.
This movie is one of my all time favorites, and I watch it every Christmas Eve since it came out in 1994.
Ah, thank you for remembering the great Mary Wickes. One of my all-time favorites since childhood.
Great to see Eric Stolz *sigh*, Trini and Samantha. I do wish more of the cast was present, but so glad this adaption (the one of my generation) was respectfully spotlighted here. It's such a lovely film, full of warm performances and great chemistry between the actors. Thank you. ☺
Hate to say it but these are the ones not working very much lately.
How unexpected to find this panel discussion in my feed! I saw Little Women on opening day, Christmas Day, in 1994, and it moved me so powerfully from the opening titles with Thomas Newman’s glorious, playful swell of music and those picture postcard shots. I’ve seen it so many times since then. My wife and I watch it most Christmas seasons, and very often we’re just in floods of tears throughout it. Mark Kermode has spoken about how Mary Poppins is his litmus test film - that he can’t be close to someone who doesn’t love that film, that to *not* love Mary Poppins betrays something incompatible to him. And I would say my version of that is the ‘94 Little Women. There is just such grace and warmth and delight and tenderness in it - if someone doesn’t love that film, I’m not sure my soul and their soul could ever make any kind of music together as friends.
This is awesome! I didn't realize until recently that these TCM events come on TH-cam
It's one of my all-time favorites, i watch it every year during Christmas time.
This is such a treat!
How has it been 30 years?! 😅
This is my #1 version of Little Women. This was my childhood. ❤
I really appreciated Eric Stoltz's last statement. That was such a lovely sentiment he expressed about being surrounded on set by these amazing women and their children merrily running all around the place.
I watch this movie every year around Christmas time, and I still love it. 😊
My sister and I used to watch this movie together, finding ourselves in the sisters on the screen, very much enjoying the atmosphere, costumes, set design. What a wonderful story!
We always teared up when Beth is dying, having a good cry sitting next to each other ... well, now it's only me left having a good cry for my late, still missed sister, too ...
That's the beauty and power of great art. Like Astrid Lindgren said about learning to feel servere emotions through stories first.
TCM is the greatest 📽️. Great video
I’ve always loved this version of the “Little Women” story on film. Thanks for this gathering of ppl from its production. makes for even more added enjoyment of this classic for everyone. I also enjoyed its music score. ☮️&💟
Trini always beautiful and adorable ❤
Love this adaptation! Great video! 💖
Adorable and lovely mellow vibes---my favorite adaption 🌹
This was such an important movie to me growing up.
So amazing! Love it!
loooove this! great job as always alicia!
I love Little Women and this film does the book proud! Love this version the best.
This is so amazing!! One would dream of another reunion with Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Christian Bale and Susan Sarandon
This might be my favorite rendition of the tale to date, while I love them all. 🤩 Many thanks to everyone involved with the panel.
The only version of this film that exists to me!! How in the hell do you have a Little Women reunion WITHOUT Winona Ryder?! Massively disappointing.
She's filming the last season of Stranger Things.
And Claire and Susan :(
I agree. It's just way too incomplete. I love this version of LIttle Women so much.
Yes, it would've been great to have the rest of the core cast, esp Winona Ryder and Susan Sarandon. Still, it's awesome to see this and a what a truly wonderful film! 👍
Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to me either.
It would have been amazing for her to be there, but she probably wasn't available. A lot of moving parts are involved in putting together a film festival and booking special guests.
I enjoyed this very much!
I wish we could've had more people from the film in this conversation. Colleen Atwood (costume designer) and Thomas Newman (composer) would've been great additions.
Sweet!
❤❤❤
I was in film school from 2018-2020. I was quite a bit older than many of the students but it was really fascinating to see the reactions of the Men to all kinds of different things. Things Men used to not have a reaction to except, "ladies are overreacting" wasn't a problem. There are some very, healthy, forward thinking and evolved young people. Men would rather see Little Women and skip Godard.
I Would have loved for this to be longer and the cast talk a bit about some of my favorite movies growing up like “Satisfaction”, “Pump up the volume” and “Some kind of wonderful”
Wow. I always wondered what happened to Trini...
Im a fan of hers too. Love everything she’s in. She’s also Latina/Hispanic. Which to me meant a lot bc I also am and it’s nice to see representation 🫶🏻
I was there. No mention is made that when the discussion initially began, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate for 10 or so minutes. Sadly that lost time cut the allotted time for the discussion short before the time came to start the film
Too bd Foxtel Australia dropped TCM from it’s channels.
How many people are going to introduce their friends to either "Beverly Hills, 90210" or "Melrose Place" now? ^~^ Per IMDB, filming of "Little Women" occurred in the spring through summer of 1994. "Beverly Hills, 90210" was in its fourth season in 1994; "Melrose Place" was in its second season in 1994. I'm guessing it's the latter show because the former had already been around long enough for TV-viewers to form an opinion. "Melrose Place," on the other hand, was still a new show and maybe Samantha Mathis felt that more people needed to give it a chance.
No Gabriel Byrne, no Susan Sarandon, no Winona Ryder. . . zzzzzzzzz
Best version still the 30’s original with Katherine Hepburn.. the perfect Jo
Good luck getting her to come discuss it.
I preferred the one with Katherine Hepburn as Jo...
Totally agree.
Man, hardly any of thecast here. Super disappointing.
