Keep making videos you're a good teacher
Thanks for the kind words! No plans on stopping!
I like the motion that diminished chords create, going up or down or across the fret board
Diminished chords are fantastic for opening harmonic possibilities!
I need to brush up on the dims, I’m not afraid anymore
Diminished chords can be scary, but I’m glad you’ve come around!
In relation to the V, I always think of the diatonic half-diminished chord and just make it the full dim7 chord. Thanks for the video!
Yes! It's a beautiful sound.
I tend to always levitate towards basic Dim triads and Diminished 7ths. I have tried to remember the m7b5 patterns but just can't get my fingers and head around it and am in denial that they exist. I know I should know this for harmonising the 7th of the major scale but is it fair to say they are not essential?
Really it depends on what styles you’re playing. Knowing what I do about your background I’d say diminished is more applicable than half diminished however if you were playing jazz I would say the opposite as minor 7b5 chords are VERY common. I’d argue it’s definitely worth knowing and being comfortable with but if you need to prioritize other areas due to current time constraints I’d say that it’s a defendable decision!
@mattfranceschini "legal and cool"....is how I see that ;)
Your spot on, I've gone from having no structure/direction on what to practice (ended up just noodling aimlessly) to now the time flies and I only get half way through what I want to cover off. The metronome has been a game changer too, months of minimal progress- 2 weeks on the nome and its night and day. Setting some priorities help to stay on track to whatever my goals end up being) 🤷♂️
Amazing!
