Let's assume that someone hires a "robotaxi" right after a party. That his utterly drunk. That he vomits on the couch. What will Tesla do ? Take a look at the indoor cameras, evaluate the dammages, send the bill to the customer, call the insurance company and all this for a few dollars ?

And this whole "in the sleep thing" completely ignores that at night everybody would be offering their robotaxi and few people would want a ride, while during rush hour, nobody would offer but everybody would want one. People generally overestimate the value in car sharing. It's much smaller than commonly thought!

With an ageing population, people will need taxis maybe more than today. But, they may prefer a driver who could assist with luggage, mobility...etc. The only place tesla will be putting their taxis is in their tunnels, then they could link them together and have a regular service around a city through tunnels. I just need to come up with a name for this revolutionary concept.

I was last time in a taxi in 2015, when I flew to/from the USA. No, it was a trip to Frankfurt year before, in Germany. No, no... I frogot this one: it was on my Netherlands trip in 2020, when the train to Schipol airport was cancelled for a reason or other. European public transportaition is quite a good. At least in the biggest cities. Robotaxi may not have markets outside the USA and China.
Tesla is not tesing Robotaxi or FSD in California, because they should report all the accidents, too. Yes, Tesla has zero reported autonomous miles there.

Also if it’s that profitable wouldn’t someone just buy a hundred robotaxis and make a business out of it? The idea of just buying one robotaxis and renting it out means you need to clean it after every use, pay higher insurance costs, pay for a billing system. higher maintenance costs and you may need a business license. Not sure it would be worth it plus one would be in competition with other robotaxis owners.

For Tesla's valuation to be real, every single car on the road would have to be a Tesla some day. That's just not going to happen, because at least Americans never want to drive the same car as everyone else, especially if its a status symbol.

Hello Chris, to be clear I’m into any of this, but Elon is pretty smart (for him and Tesla) if he can actually convince people to buy into it.
    My prediction for October event:
    1) You buy the hardware, Tesla car
    2) you buy the AI / autonomous self driving monthly subscription package.
    3) you do all the maintenance, liability coverage, and cleaning.
It’s a win for Tesla and an absolute disaster for whoever buys into it.
Tesla’s robotaxi kinda reminds me of China’s electric scooters rentals scheme from 2020 / 2021 where overnight you had millions of scooters everywhere to rent and the mess it made.

And because everyone in the world want this driving robot, Tesla will become a company valued in quatrillions - and the robot can then be sold for really cheap..
