Passed my test a couple of weeks ago. Just wish that I had found your channel a little sooner. It’s great. Keep up the good work

Another brilliant video, I am returning to bikes after a very very long time, got some refresher lessons lined up, but your videos are my go to place, I am studying very hard all your trips out, thank you so much for sharing, you really are the best I have seen…cheers

@@motorcyclelessonsuk I am just for now doing slow riding practice and breaking, think I need those refresher lessons before I venture out….it does take different hand skills using the throttle on the DCT version of bike I have….getting there, but it’s all about practice at the end of the day….cheers

@@karlhoward2737 Agreed. You'll need to balance throttle with rear brake for super slow stuff and tight turns. Practise makes a lot of difference. You're certainly approaching it in a sensible way Karl 👍😊

How do gain confidence on positioning? I seem to always want to be in position one even on a main road or country road

Hi Dave, try thinking of the 3 positions differently. Position 1 is a place of safety on tight bends where we cannot see around the bend, however in a straight line and even on these tight bends do remember nearside hazards are also an issue for us. That's why position 2 is our "normal riding position", as it generally keeps us away from dangers on both the left and right. At advanced level we take this even further and in a straight line with no oncoming traffic we equalise the danger by using poaition 3 as the "normal riding position" when it is safe to do so. It's all about trying to keep yourself in the safest position at any moment in time. Try riding for a section of your ride in position 2, then if you feel uncomfortable go back to position 1, and build your confidence in stages. Do remember to look out for nearside hazards though like side roads, driveway entrances etc as position one can be hazardous too. I hope this helps.

A big benefit of maintaining your central road position (not moving over to 1) is that it stops car drivers behind treating you like a cyclist.
