LEGO Should do more Train stuff
We need a full city tour 👍👍
TrixBrix makes MILS Straight Track Terminators which transition conventional Lego track segments to the track style used in the Old Train Engine Shed. It might make it easier to integrate the set into a layout. Some plates would also be needed to help with the height transition. There may be other third party options too.
I love the rock work and the tunnel! The grassy landscaping is nice too. Once you level it out more, maybe you can add patches of green leaf elements for a more lush look in some areas?
Important-ish notice: you can just put standard track in front of the brick built tracks and it should work pretty well
This video made my decision for me. I was already on the fence for this Bricklink set as I don't really need a train shed as much as I need a train depot. I need something much bigger than a shed so that the engine could actually turn around inside, otherwise I'll be fine with a just a train depot where passengers buy their tickets and wait for their train.
Totally understand that! Yeah it doesn’t have a ton of space on the inside and definitely can’t turn around to change directions. The build is neat so I might either incorporate it as a train shed or even repurpose it because it’s really beautiful!
One of my favorites, can't wait to place it somewhere in my railways layout !
The lever car is a little large, or at least the mechanics of it is, but the tool cabinet isn't that unrealistic. There are some large tool cabinets out there (I guess maybe the height is a little much), and some tools you may need to work on a train can be quite large.
So happy to see you utilizing more Duplo in your city. Duplo is amazing.
WOW! It is looking so good, will you be using the new goats you found in London to keep the grass down?😉
Can you put vines hanging down in the opening of the train opening so you can hide the wood hanging down??
What a stunning build, thanks for sharing with us! 🎉
Hey party people is the best way to start a video! 😎
Hey Emily! Nice to see a long-form City vid again! About that bit of wood harshing your train tunnel?...just paint it a matching grey? OMG!!! I did not realize Duplo was compatible with Lego proper! (Seems obvious now...duh!🥴) Great work!💕
Use shims to level the tables then you won't have the issue with the bricks not matching across the gap.
You can get plastic or wood shims at hardware stores - insert under the table legs. A bubble level might help as well, maybe even a digital level if you want the best precision.
Woodworkers who use hand tools all have to level their tables for their tools to work correctly, so getting tables level is a well understood problem - lots of free videos out there for reference.
If you have bumps in your tables, that's a more complex problem but still one that can be solved (perhaps by adding a layer of MDF or something similar that's known to be really flat on top, then leveling the tables with the MDF on top). Again, a well understood problem.
To insert the shims, you might find it helpful to have a friend to lift the table corner (only do that if the table is not heavy, don't risk an injury). Or remove the sets (legos can add up to a lot of weight!), level, replace. There are furniture / cabinet jacks for lifting things as well - allowing you to lift heavy things without risk of injury and without needing to remove things from the surface, but that would only make sense if you have a friend with one of those jacks that can help.
69 years old and the only Lego I buy are the cars. I do not open them and I just put them away. I did buy my wife some of the flowers and she enjoys them. Thanks for the videos. You are always positive and I enjoy them. Maybe someday, I will buy me a set to open...
It looks so beautiful!
The bulbs by the rockwork at the tunnel entrance. Keep it. The real world looks like that which just makes the scene just that much more realistic. Also your rockwork is looking quite good. My suggestion would be to add non DBG pieces for LBG and or dark tan/olive green, and old grey …
I Leo the hill there! looks very natural. the rock work really shows your growth - be proud of yourself!
Really liking the look of this set, I can't wait to get mine in July! I'm planning to incorporate it into my terminus station, so I hope the Orient Express will fit in the shed.
Emily the old train shed looks really good in your city have a great week
Emily. If you don’t need a repair shop for your city’s trains, you could remove the far wall and pretend that it is an enclosed station. The extra outside track can be used to display a historical car or engine like the 40th anniversary locomotive.
Oh my goodness you finished it congratulations 🎉 it looks awesome I wish my city looks like yours
Welcome home amazing mountains waterfall love the trains
The waterfall needs some help still but excited to give it another go!
Your rock work looks awesome!
Got this set today - well preordered it. I really love the old school vibe on it. Reminds me of Europe where I’m from and now that I think of it 😂 made me a bit home sick 🤦🏼♀️✈️
Glad I saw this. Was on the fence about this set. Def not getting it now.
I hope you got some inspiration from the 3 large builds they had upstairs at Lego House. I loved the large mountain with the castle on top - great for getting ideas on rocky cliffs and mountains, and anything regarding your own city for ideas. Hopefully you took lots of photos. I know I did, and I put them in a video on my channel (if I am allowed to say things like that on here lol). I always love your Lego city updates, so looking forward to seeing how it develops.
P.S. Hope Ross is now enjoying the warmer climate and seeing the sun in the sky again!
Your rock work looks great.
Oh dang I’m never this early!! It would be cool if you made a Carnival Or amusement park to your Lego city!! I’m a huge fan of legos and they’re amusement park sets!!
I used to have an amusement park but it’s hard to keep it in the city cuz of how much room it takes! Maybe I’ll try something though!
using duplo helps out and save so many pieces. I just bought some bulk duplo off goodwillshop
Your videos are awesome!
I like where you put the station on the side.
Man, I wish I got my hands on that set, too bad I missed out on it.
I love how you transitioned the small ugly rock piece into the slopes
Hey Emily, I think your Duplo pillar is on an angle! I think you should move it at least one stud to get it straight! 😉
how about if you putting the trolley to go in and out of the repair station?.... jus a thought thankx for sharing...
maybe look at it as a museum train engine shed rather a working one
Love the shed, but would like it integrated with the whole track system.
Very nice Emma
7th and hey there i love your vids been watching for 2 years now!
Woo! Thank you so much 🤗 I love being able to share my LEGO city with you!
Keep the hill. Its good work and looks nice
Do you have Wednesday Adam’s within your LEGO city??
I don't like the raised train tracks, but it's lego and so I'll mod it.
I'm a Lego-logist, not a train expert.
Thanks for the review, I would like it, but it's too expensive for what it is. I think it's a pass. The designer program seems very unfinished this time. And yeah I'm sad because the observatory and dinner went pass and I miss them 😢
How do they get to the train engine shed station?🎃
You're lucky you got one of these sets for free. I wish I could afford it
These sets will have a maximum of 30,000
🚂 💨
Day 10 of asking if you have a 1958 plymouth fury in your lego city
Yeah definitely looks more like a MOC than an actual Lego set, that shed is built so odd lol
I have mirrored several sets.
Do you have your self in your legs city?
Day 140 of asking do you have big ben
you all you all. she say that a lot kinda funny.
OMG DID YOU HEAR ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFTS NEW ALBUM!!!!!!! 😆
i liked these better when they had printed manuals and only 10k pieces. can't justify it at 30,000 sets
I need a huge favor from you it’s very important
Do you have a anger fish in your Lego City.
Day 132 of asking if you have a Lego Death Star in your Lego city
I've been on the fence about this one, but honestly the little shed not being connected to the main build and the fragility of it is such a turn off.. thanks for the video
Day 4 over asking do you have a police car
Please close the gaps xxx.
Can you please make a video of yourself doing some marching in one place while singing the whole entire song of the ants go marching for my baby cousin please he has kidney cancer
Let's see this comment blow up, Emma do you have a mc Donalds in your Lego city??
I9

I know nothing about trains either, but from what I've seen on other peoples layouts; there is something called a "L-Gauge" standard that lets you ballast the track and does put the entire thing up higher than just sticking train track to a baseplate. From the looks of it, the designer used that system for this build but did not use Lego track, instead brick-built it, though should be easy enough to swap that to Lego track for easy integration to a train layout.
I used the Crocodile locomotive set track and swapped the black plates with gray to simulate ballast. Some rails are elevated up to twelve feet above ground level in my area with all of that height from ballast covered fill.
That's difficult to create in LEGO but allows for more interesting landscapes and bridge options.
