Absolutely love this very underrated movie. I really hope you check out a video on Joe and Nicky of you haven’t already for some reason because their companionship is just so beautiful and natural
They 100% investigate when someone "survives" something impossible to survive. They are also connected by shared dreams and can sense each other. They all break up and go solo for a bit but they still get together regularly, they also use zero contact banishment for a set amount of time as a punishment if one of the group breaks trust. I think if you live forever taking a decade or two to do your own thing would be like a week's vacation.
The film explains that they dream of one another until they meet. We see this happen when they dream of the young black woman Nile. She later dreams of Quynh as she hasn't met her. Because Quynh isn't dead, she's alive still in the watery grave. She revives only to drown again which is why Nile is saying she feels half mad. Quynh being lost to them and they can't find her is why Andy feels guilty. She lost a soldier and then gave up on finding her. Nile's dream is the first confirmation of Quynh's continued existence in a while. The group in the movie have just had a separation for a while (except Joe and Nicky, they stayed together) I guess the companionship is great to a point but any group living on top of each other needs space too. I could totally see how that is
Thanks for the context! That’s cool that they all dream of one another… right, space would definitely be needed unless they’re just constantly fighting and can’t take a moment to themselves ha.

Right! I could definitely see a decade alone being like a weekend 🤣
