- This is the hardest video I've ever had to make. We found out Chief has had a tumor in the front of his upper jaw for the past couple months. After many, many vet and specialist visits filled with consultations, biopsies, x-rays, CAT scans, and pain medications, we were told the disease has progressed too far and if treated, the quality of life our Chief deserves wouldn’t be attainable😭
Chief was the best friend I’ve ever had. I’m not just saying that, Chief really was my best friend. Not only was he the first dog that I got on my own but he was so unique. It was almost like an incredibly goofy human was trapped inside a Labradors body. He was and is so different from any dog I’ve ever met and that’s why he’s so irreplaceable.
Chief you made my life so special. You were my party dog in college. We did everything together. Hell you even went to vidcon with me and got more attention than I did haha. You came to work with me on a regular basis. You even slept in my Bed for the majority of your life. We went on a bunch of trips, we visited 12 states together. You loved to swim, play tug of war, and smell everything in sight especially flowers. You also loved small dogs and butterfly’s. You also loved your momma. Your the dog that made us a family. Life will never be the same without you buddy. You will always be my best friend. I love you Chief
Chief had been battling cancer and went peacefully in our home surrounded by his pack 🐾

I am a 62 year old man that you just brought to tears. I had the same relationship with my first family member and best friend Brewski(Golden Retriever) and he has been gone 27 years now. I think of him often, but your video literally was our life and that was very strange and unique to me. As hard as that had to be to make, I hope you know you touched my life tonight with your beautiful video.

Yea i feel like they let the vet talk him into something he could have posponed. Clearly we havent seen the whole backstory but he still seems healthy and happy and maybe thats because of the pain meds but based on the video id of let him keep going a bit longer. If he was in alot of pain though i get it you gotta do whats the best for the dog.

My Dad was the toughest guy I ever met. He was a Marine, Truck Driver, tough guy. I saw him cry twice in his life, when his Mom died and when his dog died. RIP Chief.

I am and always will be a US Marine and 1 month and 1 week ago I lost my service dog of 9 years, and I am not ashamed to say that I'm still crying snot bubbles for the one that saved me.
Us Marines are tough, but we're still human and I was taught you fight hardest for the women, children and DOGS

@@clark.949 Dogs show unconditional love, even though they are hurting inside. We had mutt that never showed any signs of being in pain, until the one day that she layed in the backyard and wouldn't come in. I carried her into the bedroom and we all slept together. We found out that she had a high white cell count and would need a blood transfusion to allow her to live a little bit longer. She had a cancerous tumor that had spread into her organs. I still remember her looking into my eyes while she was being put to sleep. Poor little Bin Bin. :(
I lost a dog to cancer and it’s just horrendous, but even without meeting him I can see how very loved he was and he knew it.

Its horrendous seeing a dog have to be put down but if I had a choice between letting him go out on a high like in this video or forcing him into a bunch of unnecessary treatments that will just buy the dog a few more months of a miserable time always being in pain then I would choose the first option every time.
Literally 5 minutes ago I didn’t know you, or chief existed, but I’m in tears hearing it’s his last day, seeing him so happy running around having the time of his life. Reminds me of my boy Homer, had to be out down and was the friendliest, most well behaved dog and I still can’t believe he’s gone, my condolences go to you, your partner and the rest of your pack. So sorry man, I know how it feels and it sucks.

We in the family have a cocker spaniel at 14 years old, her name is Ruth.
She cannot hear anymore and she doesn't have too much of a sprint in her step, so I have mentally prepared myself, that every day is borrowed and that one day she will no longer be able to walk or something in that category, and when that happens I think I will be ready.
I wish you the best of recovery after your farewells, and that you will cherish the memories of the good things you have had with chief.
The only fault a dog has is that they leave us way too soon. Dogs are truly the greatest gift we could receive. Chief new he was sick and I know he was/is at peace. He is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. You both are special people. Much love!!’

The description of this video brought me to tears, I wrote a very similar letter to my Golden retriever that was my best friend, my first dog as an adult, moved around the country with me.. Not just a dog..

honestly, we don't deserve dogs, and this is proof. Chief looks so happy and pushed through his cancer for 6 hard, painful months, but he always smiled, no matter how much pain he was in. Thank you, Chief, for bringing your family, friends, and all of your fan here on youtube happiness.

I can’t tell you how much this video meant to our family. Willie’s last big adventure is tomorrow. He too has been fighting cancer for a year. He bravely gave up a leg last year but the cancer returned. We wanted him to “go out on top”. Watching this video eases our hearts that we’re doing the right thing. Thank you. ❤️🐾

grief is always there, it never goes away, that is the reality
dogs always know. When i took my dog to a vet he had ended up paralyzed from the waist down, an important disk flew out of place and the only other option was a costly operation that had a low chance of success. We had to put him to sleep that day and it's still the hardest decision i've ever made. But before the vet took him my dog looked at me my mom and dad and we could all tell he was saying goodbye. He was too intelligent for his own good and his last look at me told me all i needed to know. To all dog owners, the love of a dog is one you never forget and no matter how much people say they aren't like humans there is no denying that their presence and life is that of a human you love. The best part is they always live within us and our memories, my mom has said that when a pet dies they wait for you when it's your time to pass on.

This takes me back to 3 years ago when my dog was kidnapped, forced to fight other dogs, and then left at the park to die. We found her but she was so traumatized to the point she was in some kind of coma. We also found out her kidney was failing so even if she came out of it, she probably only had a few months. When we talked to her in her coma state at the vet she would start wiggling her legs as if she could hear us but was trapped in a dream. Gosh, just thinking about it and watching this video has created a sharp pain in my chest I haven't felt in years.
Sorry to hear that... I must say I felt the same when my dog wags her tail when I pet her even if her body started to stiffen up cause of pyometra. Really amazing how a dog can love their hooman 'til the end.

I can't stop crying. I couldn't deal with this if it happened to my Eddie. Damn, you were/are really strong for being able to handle yourself as well as you did. Even if you cried, you handled yourselves so well. What a good boy Chief was.
I have never ever in my life owned a dog. But the second I watch videos like this I cry so damn hard. Thank you for being the best family that dog could of ever hoped for. This was beautiful!

My boxer is having a horrible time walking we have her in rehab and are going to fight with her until it's hard on her. Idk I found this disturbing more than beautiful. @@TJ528 well! Dawson did say that, at times chief would be playing around, energetic ect. Then the next he will be in pain and in discomfort... But like you said, he was still eating well. But we can not judge Chief's owners for making this hard heartbreaking decision...

This wrecked me and became weak. I won't be okay for about a week. Thank you for sharing this. Dogs are man's best friend because they're so simple and all they ask in return is love and compassion. Nothing more. It's crazy how dogs mold us as much as we mold then in terms of personality. Thank you.

I respect you pain and all but I haven't felt such connection with an animal and tbh I just see them as, well....animals. It surprises me that some people love their dogs more than family members. I don't really care about dogs or cats or pets overall. It would be nice to have that type of connection with an animal, maybe one day I will get a dog

Aww man.....this flattened me out. I too lost my black lab, DIESEL this past March, cannot get over his being gone. This video has helped my pain a little,...... so thank you. Knowing I'm not alone helps.

I lost my pit bull to cancer 5 years ago and it still hurts. She raised my kids and never was mad at me even when I was a jerk. Rest In Peace blue

I lost my black lab in June to cancer. He was 4 1/2 years old. We took him on his favorite trip. Sadly, my Quinnly had no energy in the end and was just a shell of his original self. All he wanted was to lay in grass and just watch. I miss him big time bunches. He was my baby
What more can anyone ask surrounded by the people he loves. Some people don't get that gift. Bless u and chief

This was a beautiful video. Despite how painful saying goodbye is, the time you got to spend with Chief through his life is what really matters in the end. He definitely lived his best life with you all loving him and him loving you. My dog of 12 years passed away due to cancer around the same time this video was posted. We grew up together. He first came into my family when I had cancer as a kid too. I will always miss him and my life will never be the same now that he is gone, but he was loved all his life. In the end, it's all that matters.

I've lost three labs over the years. Saying goodbye to these pups who were like my children was the toughest thing I've ever had to endure.
I grew up watching ur dog videos and Chief was always my favorite, this video really made me bawl my eyes out.
Can't say I remember the last time I cried for 13 minutes straight. What an awesome way to spend the last day with ones dog. I'm so sorry.
