Lovely viewer: the big word dies that are shown in this video are from Tonic Craft kit #19 and exclusive in the kit that unfortunately is sold out, so they are no longer available.
Good Day to you. I am SO happy I found your video for glue tips and mirror paper! Your audio, instructions, guidelines and examples are MOST HELPFUL! I cannot thank you enough! I learned a lot. Make it a happy day 😁
Thank you for not assuming we all know everything. I am still happily learning and enjoying every second! So glad I found your channel. It is hard work to produce your videos but I appreciate it as a learner. You are generous with your time and knowledge. Thank you kindly from the bottom of my heart.
I love the way you use everyday tools to creat your cards. Plastic knives, sponges, etc. card making is such an expensive craft, it’s nice to see that you show economical options! Thank you!
The sponge with the glue is such an amazing idea. I made a cake topper out of foil cardstock as a favor and some glue got on it. It’s good because it’s for a friend but I’m looking for ways to make it look professional and these are really good tips!
@@GerrysCraftRoom I actually decided to recut the design and use the sponge technique to put it on top of what I already have. Not only does it look cleaner, but it gave it more dimension!! It’s so exciting finding better ways to make things 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love all of these Gerry, great idea using a tissue on top of the gold shimmer card so it doesn’t crack the card stock. Love your comment about ‘not everyone knows how’ to secure embossed/metallic card stock! I’ve always turned the corners/ends back of my double side tape, it makes it easier to secure the card in the right place and saves anxious moments trying to get the whole piece off if it’s not straight! Well done my friend 🥰🤗😊
Gerry you are really really amazingly talented and clever too. I really really love ❤️ this video too. Everything you do is really really stunning and gorgeous too. I really really love ❤️ all those techniques you’ve shown us and , as I’ve said before, you teach me so much about all crafting aspects. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Hi Gerry. Like your tips. Tim Holtz recommends lightly misting the papers, both sides, with water, that you will use in a 3D embossing folder. I did it with black mirror Craft Perfect paper and it worked fine. Will try your tissue technique next!
Brenda H hi Brenda, thanks💕I’ve tried it on regular cardstock but I thought I wouldn’t do the same for mirror card as it is a bit water resistant, so I haven’t tried it with mirror card😱I did try adding felt that works well with regular cardstock, but that left a mark on the mirror card.
Wow, Gerry, this is a fantastic video! I always learn the most intriguing techniques from you! Every card is mind-blowing! I've never used nor I'm not sure I've seen mirror card paper. I definitely will check this out! The tissue trick, amazing! Will give that a try, I'm sure it will help with heavy cardstock that cracks, don't you think? And I can't believe something as simple as a sponge to dab on glue on small pieces never crossed my mind! lol! Awesome info, loved this video, Hugs, Debra
I've heard that if you lightly spray the back of your card with a little bit of water, that it will prevent cracking, as it softens the fibers in the paper. I have a wood grain EF that always cracks if embossed regularity.
Cindy Rom yes, a light mist will work on cardstock, I found mirror card is a card with sort of a foil layer that doesn’t absorb the mist to make it more flexible and prevent the card from cracking. Thanks for thinking along💖
Love the techniques shared in this video Gerry❣ All the projects and cards you made are stunning. You are only TH-camr that I watch that has used or demo-ed expanding mousse. I think it's pretty weird. You are such a talented designer and crafter. You've taught me a lot since I became a sub during Save the TH-camr hop. You're the greatest 🤗 God bless you Gerry ❤ XOXO
Wendy O'dell thanks honey💕love having you join me here😘I’ve seen only a few video’s with the mousse, don’t get that either it’s such a fun product aaand it’s really soft😁😍
Hi Gerry, not sure if somebody already told you about the problem with this mirrored cardstock splitting or not but if you spritz the back with some water it will help prevent that. Even with cardstock, if you are using a really deep embossing folder or a 3d one, that usually solves that problem. :)
You are so smart. I really appreciate all the ideas that you shared. I have been having trouble keeping the mirror cardstock from getting marks when running through my Gemini. I decided to cut pieces to the size of each die. However, when you want to make die cuts into a card base, then what? That lovely Tim Holtz mixed media die is great, but preserving the part of the base not cut into is difficult with mirror card. Any suggestions?
Reva Hash thanks💖like I say in the beginning of the video, it’s key to make sure the cutting plates are clean, I use a Big Shot and the plate is not new as you can see, then I get nice clean cuts, can’t tell about other machines, hope this helps💕
💚 Laying die cuts even up to 3 times has been dancing in my head ever since I saw the first eclipse card method. Thanks for all the tips ! 🎃 😷😷 Oct 2021 🙋 Nana in se OK usa
Hi Gerry. Just stumbled on your channel so am having a little binge! I’m enjoying learning new techniques, especially how you deal with fiddle and frustrating dies and products! Can you remember where the flowers on the last cards were from? The pink ones are so pretty. TFS. 🌹Rosie of Oz 🇦🇺
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I haven't been able to find in the materials list the word dies used in the beginning--the ornate "hello" and "with love". Did I overlook them? I would really like to purchase them.
Gerry's Craft Room Thank you for your reply. I'm sad. Please let me know if you ever want to sell yours. I don't even need the whole kit--I'd be thrilled to get the "with love" and "hello" dies.
Dawn Miller thanks💕you can use the expading mousse like embellishment mousse, as a rub, paint and with stencils, you can let it dry or heat set to expand, so it has lots of posibilities, hope this helps💕will do “a five ways to” video about expanding mousse😁
my deep etched 3d embossing folders suggested lightly spritzing paper with water before embossing and it works, i wonder if lightly spritzing the white side of the mirror paper before embossing might help prevent the splitting..? I'll post back, soon
@Rochelle Fitzpatrick yes it can help absolutely, you should give it a try for sure, just do a test run then you'll know💖 It can also depend on the mirror card brand and the design of the embossing folder💕
Saintly2 they where both from a Tonic Craft kit 19, I don’t know if they are still available, if you are interested I can check it for you, then just let me know💕
Absolutely stunning. Love how beautiful the embossing is on the mirrored cardstock. I use these mirrored cardstock a lot. The large die that says with love, where can I find that, I don’t see it in any of the links below. Thanks a mil. Big thumbs up 😊

Do you know of a way to remove scratches from mirror cardstock? I recently received some and the top page has some very noticeable scratches. The color is not scratched through to the white but I'm concerned that it will show when I make something with it.
nope, mirror card is very delicate so a scratch is a scratch basically. You could try to emboss the piece, that way it will be less visible, kind of hidden by the pattern, that's what I would do.
I bought loads of tape then watched a youtube crafter who said over time the tape dries and the cards fall apart. Ever heard of this? I dont suppose it matters for throw away cards but if they are meant as a keepsake it could be pretty disappointing to get your precious card out and see it fall to bits. :)
Margaret Parker hi Margaret, I never heard of it and I have been using tape for 20 years or so😱😁I never had it happen to me and I often have used it for making mini albums and boxes and a lot is asked from the tape then. I do use good quality tape, not super expensive but also not the cheap dollar store tape (that works more like tissue tape and is not as sticky or strong) I do find that when you add tape over an inked edge it will not hold, depending on the ink the more chalky it is the less sticky the tape gets. Hope this helps💕
Lovely viewer: the big word dies that are shown in this video are from Tonic Craft kit #19 and exclusive in the kit that unfortunately is sold out, so they are no longer available.

Genius method with double sided adhesive tape. Leave tabs of tape free, line up, peel off the tape once positioned perfectly! Nice.
thanks💖

my deep etched 3d embossing folders suggested lightly spritzing paper with water before embossing and it works, i wonder if lightly spritzing the white side of the mirror paper before embossing might help prevent the splitting..? I'll post back, soon
spritzing the back can help a bit, mirror card is foiled and a bit plastic like, so it doesn't take in water that much💖
@@GerrysCraftRoom but it might release the rigidness of the paper and make the foiled side a bit more pliable, maybe?
@Rochelle Fitzpatrick yes it can help absolutely, you should give it a try for sure, just do a test run then you'll know💖 It can also depend on the mirror card brand and the design of the embossing folder💕

Also, very lightly spritz the back, or front, with water. Lightly means spray in the air and pass the paper through it.
that technique will work on paper but water on the front of mirror cardstock doesn't work as it's a foil layer, so it just stays on top😉
Sorry forgot to add that last card was a neat trick!
