Well Sakuya was not fighting alongside Reimu by sympathy, but because Eirin was a global threat so they had to unite in order to fight a greater threat, also because Remilia ordered so.

Granted the whole premise revolves around hiding Reisen and by extension Kaguya from Lunarians, but considering Eirin's relaxed and overconfident attitude, the risk likely wasn't very high by that point. As for Kaguya being physically harmed; Eirin already allowed her to murder and be murdered by Mokou for 300 years. She wasn't all that worried about the immortal princess getting into a fight she would enjoy anyway!
Pretty much that, as far as it concerns her Eirin was preventing Kaguya from being taken aways by the Lunarians, as she wished to stay down in Earth since she likes it more than the Moon, and by extension also hides Reisen as she was in a similar situation to Kaguya. Eirin has her motives too, since most of Lunarians are widely known for being selfish and haughty, and she wanted to make Kaguya's wish true to be forgiven by the princess over the incident with the Hourai elixir. However, as of now almost every Lunarian had forgotten about Kaguya and Eirin, except the Watatsuki sisters who still dearly miss Eirin and Sagume who has dealt with Gensokyo recently.

They basically didn't like Zun's writing and tried to fix it by changing Eirin's behavior to fit their understanding of the story. If I recall correctly, Eirin and Kaguya weren't killed/resurrected during their encounter. The protagonists didn't know about immortality until they faced Mokou, which further shows Eirin and Kaguya weren't very serious, they were playing, telling stories, and listening! If the risk was too high, it's possible they would have chosen to kill Reisen (like the other moon rabbits Eirin killed to escape with Kaguya), but they didn't. You can interprit that as them growing attached to Reisen (which is true), but I think the stakes weren't super high in the first place. Or maybe they were; it's open to interpretation.

Eirin is one of the goddesses resposible on the creation of lunar capital while also being mentor of not only yorihime, but also her sister and even one of those sisters was enough to take out Sakuya, Remilia, Marisa and Reimu in silent sinner blues. Heck the 4 were only spared, because Marisa convinced Yorihime to fight with spell card rules. Eirin herself is also described to be the strongest amongst 3 hourai immortals. Oh also the other sister actually managed to subdue Yukari and Ran(under shikigami possession most likely as when Ran is working under Yukari's orders Zun has stated that she has power equal to her msster). Like we can just assume things based on subjective opinion as touhou powerscaling is s nightmare and only things we know are that Okina and Hecatis are on top, but this is just my take on this.

Okina is pretty much only character who has actively threatened Hecatia and made her back off while also being stated to have ability similiar to Yukari, but on another level. Heck Okina even threathened Hecatia by choking out clownpiece to send a message.(that manga was pretty good) . It is even stated that even during extra stage she was not even going all out and was playing by spell card rules. In one part it was also stated by Okina that if Gensokyou would be ever wiped out with all it's residents she would still have the power to recreate everything down to core with a move of her hand. Also i really like the notion on Zun that she was originally planned to sit on wheelchair but the design was scrapped since Zun was afraid of the mockery people would make of the character, but after positive reception he gave manga artist instruction to redesign okina with the wheelchair as the character states that even if you are not able bodied you can still do anything which i found very wholesome of him to do. Oh also as for why i would guess that sagume or watatsuki sisters would be amongst top 3 would be because Sagume is confirmed to be one of the gods who made lunar capital and be on par with the god of moon and in lolk she barely tried to put up a fight as the stage 4 is simply a test to see if heroine can take on Junko. Like Junko is stated to be strong, but her main threat to lunar capital was the fact that she was with Hecatia and Hecatia's army. Byakuren is more of stated to be not followed by her power. Like she is physically strong, but even then Suika and Yuugi are likely stronger in power so most likely she is on par with high tier yokai like moukou is. Eirin would probably be able to match the sisters and sagume, however she is likely been surprassed by the two sisters as the watatduki sisters were stated to be the strongest characters so far during silent sinner blues. Altho this is just my take on it so far based on things i have read and heard. I am just some random gay guy who has been into this lore for quite awhile. Like i mainly follow touhou for soundtracks and i lowkey unironically like the mangas.

I don't think Eirin was following spell rules here, she was trying to kill (and Marisa would have died if not by Sakuya). And I don't think Sakuya and Remilia were holding back either because they comboed time stop with Gungnir, that for me was a pretty much kill intent. Thing is, in the original lore this fight was against Yohorime, not Eirin.
@@ReiLeo What do you mean "original lore"? Eiyashou is 4 teams (Reimu+Yukari, Marisa+Alice, Sakuya+Remilia, Youmu+Yuyuko) vs. Eientei crew, more-or-less led by Eirin (cause Kaguya best NEET). All the anime does is merge the fights, so it's several teams working together vs. Eirin instead of following just one team (though, we know that they're solving the incident in parallel due to the stage 4 altercation). Yorihime appears in Bougetsushou, where similar-ish fights do occur - Sakuya, Remi, Marisa, and Reimu fight Yorihime on the Moon, Yukari pulls off chessmaster moves and distracts Toyohime, and Yuyuko raids the pantry with Youmu. There's some parallelism (similar characters, Lunarian opponents), but they're two entirely separate storylines that don't have much in common. Also, Yorihime wins by a landslide in Bougetsushou, and Yukari surrenders to Toyohime carrying WMDs (though this was part of the plan). Eiyashou canonically ends with Eientei losing, though keep in mind that Eirin taught the Watatsuki sisters, so Eirin and Kaguya are very much OP (like all Lunarians). Regarding them going all out, Eirin very much explicitly states (in Eiyashou) that she's just playing with them until the morning when she'll return the Moon either way. She's essentially playing defense so the spell isn't disrupted, and isn't even taking them seriously. On the other hand, Yorihime treats their rocket expedition as an act of war and is openly talking about killing everyone and retaliating against Earth/Gensoukyou, though they eventually convince her to use spellcard rules instead (which she's never heard of until then). Toyohime threatens to vaporize half of Gensoukyou using her fan before Yukari surrenders. Lunarians be scary, yo.
This is only to be expected from a fandom as legendary as Touhou. They have lived on strong for over two decades, no wonder there would be talented and motivated animators among them.

So if you try to do that outside of a spell card battle...yeah, it probably wouldn't be the most effective way to defeat her😅

On top of that, she is also the mentor of Watatsuki no Yorihime and Watatsuki no Toyohime, whom none of the characters present in this scene can touch let alone beat (even including Yukari herself). And they think Eirin could be legitimately "defeated" like this? Nah, consider that spell card rule exist.
I don't think Eirin gives a shit about spell rules. And I also don't think the girls on Gensokyo follow them all the time. During the anime, Sakuya clearly tried to kill Reimu during their fight, Yuyuko clearly tried to kill Marisa, Utsuho was shooting lethal flame attacks at Cirno, and etc. In this very scene Eirin was fighting to the death and Marisa would have died have Sakuya not intervened. In terms of power I think Eirin is a 10/10 and she would not be defeated just like that BUT Reimu, Sakuya, Remilia and Marisa working TOGETHER definitely could beat her.

Realistically, how could a group of humans and few youkai stand a chance against ancient and high-ranking deity from a land that's superior in everything (mostly)? I don't think Reimu could seriously beat Yukari, and Yukari was helpless when Toyohime legitimately threatened her life while Yorihime defeated Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya and Remilia simultaneously through sheer force without breaking a sweat in SSiB, and both of them still hold their teacher Eirin in high regard. So nah, without spellcard rules Eirin could just pull whatever spell on scale of creating fake moon to swoosh them and it's probably still only a fragment of her overall power. What's stopping her?
Tl;dr considering her status and scaling based on evidence, Eirin is most likely far leagues above any Gensokyo dweller (so far). Even if it's possible to withstand her by combining the strength of certain individuals, certainly not humans whose power are still limited in some way and youkai who aren't really remarkable in terms of strength. The only notable individuals on this side of opposition are Yukari and Yuyuko, and they didn't do much against Eirin's student. Even if they can topple Eirin somehow, certainly it wouldn't be as simple as this scene shows.

One particular observation I have to make here: just looking at the level of detail, polish, the smooth movement, and overall talent shown in this independent animation, then you look at the horrible recreations of missing "Dr Who" episodes. I have to wonder what feeble the BBC must have for their sorry substandard work. If, with all the resources the BBC can bring to bear, why are they so easily shown up by some independent project like this?
Yes! 10/10 quality. The only issue is each episode takes months to come out and the actual episode is too short (almost 50% are opening and ending). But well, at least we have it.

I don't think you may sum Gensokyo just like that "everyone is just selfish". Most of them are good or just Neutral. I think the only one really evil is Kanako.

Not exactly all of them are selfish, some are misguided like Shinmyoumaru or Kokoro, while some didn't even do anything wrong like Byakuren, Miko or Chimata. The selfishness at Byakuren level or higher aren't really something special, it is pretty humanly. And no, I don't think raising an entire war to find one single individual and probably killing/toture them afterward because of a sin that someone else commit after killing that guy is not evil. And how tf is Kanako evil? She is much better person than Remilia or Keiki. If anyone ask me about who is evil, my answer will be Kasen's arm, Parsee, Medicine, Junko, Seiga, maybe Seija, Keiki, Yachie, Saki, Toutetsu, Joon and of course, Mima.

@@ReiLeo What do you mean "original lore"? Eiyashou is 4 teams (Reimu+Yukari, Marisa+Alice, Sakuya+Remilia, Youmu+Yuyuko) vs. Eientei crew, more-or-less led by Eirin (cause Kaguya best NEET). All the anime does is merge the fights, so it's several teams working together vs. Eirin instead of following just one team (though, we know that they're solving the incident in parallel due to the stage 4 altercation).
Yorihime appears in Bougetsushou, where similar-ish fights do occur - Sakuya, Remi, Marisa, and Reimu fight Yorihime on the Moon, Yukari pulls off chessmaster moves and distracts Toyohime, and Yuyuko raids the pantry with Youmu.
There's some parallelism (similar characters, Lunarian opponents), but they're two entirely separate storylines that don't have much in common. Also, Yorihime wins by a landslide in Bougetsushou, and Yukari surrenders to Toyohime carrying WMDs (though this was part of the plan). Eiyashou canonically ends with Eientei losing, though keep in mind that Eirin taught the Watatsuki sisters, so Eirin and Kaguya are very much OP (like all Lunarians).
Regarding them going all out, Eirin very much explicitly states (in Eiyashou) that she's just playing with them until the morning when she'll return the Moon either way. She's essentially playing defense so the spell isn't disrupted, and isn't even taking them seriously. On the other hand, Yorihime treats their rocket expedition as an act of war and is openly talking about killing everyone and retaliating against Earth/Gensoukyou, though they eventually convince her to use spellcard rules instead (which she's never heard of until then). Toyohime threatens to vaporize half of Gensoukyou using her fan before Yukari surrenders. Lunarians be scary, yo.

@@ailius1520 Well thanks to Touhou's incredibly nutty power scaling, Sakuya could have reaction times faster than light while LOWBALLED, so you'd have to make it one hell of a surprise if you don't want her just immediately stopping time. Also she can straight up erase objects and people from timelines apparently so...yeah🤷

Yorihime was actually able to beat her this way in Silent Sinner Blue (while operating within spellcard rules if my memory serves) after she realized that Sakuya isn't able to teleport
@@kn-jt9dj Yep! But as you said, that was within the spell card rules. According to Sakuya's profile and lore in some of the Touhou manga, Sakuya can erase objects from a timeline. So if you try to do that outside of a spell card battle...yeah, it probably wouldn't be the most effective way to defeat her😅

Eirin is one of the ancient founder of Lunar Capital. On top of that, she is also the mentor of Watatsuki no Yorihime and Watatsuki no Toyohime, whom none of the characters present in this scene can touch let alone beat (even including Yukari herself).
And they think Eirin could be legitimately "defeated" like this? Nah, consider that spell card rule exist.
I don't think Eirin gives a shit about spell rules. And I also don't think the girls on Gensokyo follow them all the time. During the anime, Sakuya clearly tried to kill Reimu during their fight, Yuyuko clearly tried to kill Marisa, Utsuho was shooting lethal flame attacks at Cirno, and etc. In this very scene Eirin was fighting to the death and Marisa would have died have Sakuya not intervened.
In terms of power I think Eirin is a 10/10 and she would not be defeated just like that BUT Reimu, Sakuya, Remilia and Marisa working TOGETHER definitely could beat her.

When I said spell card rules it's so Reimu and co. has a chance to "beat" Eirin. Otherwise, with bare force Eirin could easily obliterate them.
Realistically, how could a group of humans and few youkai stand a chance against ancient and high-ranking deity from a land that's superior in everything (mostly)? I don't think Reimu could seriously beat Yukari, and Yukari was helpless when Toyohime legitimately threatened her life while Yorihime defeated Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya and Remilia simultaneously through sheer force without breaking a sweat in SSiB, and both of them still hold their teacher Eirin in high regard.
So nah, without spellcard rules Eirin could just pull whatever spell on scale of creating fake moon to swoosh them and it's probably still only a fragment of her overall power. What's stopping her?
Tl;dr considering her status and scaling based on evidence, Eirin is most likely far leagues above any Gensokyo dweller (so far). Even if it's possible to withstand her by combining the strength of certain individuals, certainly not humans whose power are still limited in some way and youkai who aren't really remarkable in terms of strength. The only notable individuals on this side of opposition are Yukari and Yuyuko, and they didn't do much against Eirin's student.
Even if they can topple Eirin somehow, certainly it wouldn't be as simple as this scene shows.
Buuuut we can defeat her in game with only two characters. It can't be more canon, than these games.

I don't think you may sum Gensokyo just like that "everyone is just selfish". Most of them are good or just Neutral. I think the only one really evil is Kanako.

Granted they aren't all selfish but most are, and good is hard to believe because even Byakuren had selfish motives to turn to budhism
Not exactly all of them are selfish, some are misguided like Shinmyoumaru or Kokoro, while some didn't even do anything wrong like Byakuren, Miko or Chimata. The selfishness at Byakuren level or higher aren't really something special, it is pretty humanly.
And no, I don't think raising an entire war to find one single individual and probably killing/toture them afterward because of a sin that someone else commit after killing that guy is not evil.
And how tf is Kanako evil? She is much better person than Remilia or Keiki. If anyone ask me about who is evil, my answer will be Kasen's arm, Parsee, Medicine, Junko, Seiga, maybe Seija, Keiki, Yachie, Saki, Toutetsu, Joon and of course, Mima.
