Thank-you for sharing your WIPS and some of the reasons why they are in the various stages of progress. It’s comforting to know the feelings and thoughts are common!
Are you going to do a room review? Like what you changed and why. What's working. What did not work? You should! I have just gotten my WIP stack formalized also. It's shocking but I am focused! Going to the Sewing Expo won't sidetrack me at all 😅
Loved your video. I have 7 completed quilt tops waiting to go on my longarm but I cannot decide what to quilt on them! Indecision stops me in my tracks. Then, "while deciding" I start a new project and before you know it I have a whole stack of works in progress still waiting for a decision to be made! I know I will only be able to improve my long-arming skills if I push past my fear and just do it! But so far...I can't. Meanwhile...I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thank you!
Thank You, I know that feeling. I love starting new projects. I get so excited about new opportunities all the time. Quilting is such a wonderful way to show our creative side.
I cut out a few quilts at a time and put them in containers so when I’m ready to make it I can just grab and go. Once I start a quilt I usually finish it unless I run into a problem. With that being said, I always have at least two or three projects going at once. Which one I work on depends on how I feel and what motivates me that day. Love your channel!
I’m a,long time quilter but am focusing on making garments now since I lost a considerable amount of weight. I still have quite a few WIPS and plan to get them finished. Many of them are completed tops waiting to be quilted. I don’t have a long arm but have an embroidery machine that has a large hood so will try E2E quilting on them. I enjoyed your video and have subscribed. 😊
Oh I love all your WIP, i have 5, not enough hours in a day, is my reason, loved that I found another Aussie, in the same boat, will continue to watch. Busselton WA.
I enjoyed seeing your WIPs. Mine are probably double… I don’t recommend this! I think I need to go on a quilt diet. My daughter suggested picking a different quilt to work on each day so that is what I’m going to try this week. Love your sleeping tip, going to try it! ❤from Texas
Hi Double wow that is a few WIPs but sounds like your daughter has given you a good plan. Absolutely try the sleeping tip I am so happy that it is working for me. I think I learnt the tip from one of Tula Pink videos.
I have the same Tula Pink butterfly quilt with all the blocks completed but haven’t touched it for 9 months. I get overwhelmed by the amount of parts. You have encouraged me to get back to it in the new year.
the trip around the world is georgous with all those pinks. I think no border as it appears complete without one. But if you're going to regret no border, put it one. Just make a decision! a finished quilt is always better than an unfinished one. Loved your channel btw. First time I've seen you.
I love this video. Your channel just popped up in my feed and I have been going through your videos. Your quilts are lovely. I would only add a border on the trip around the world if it isn't large enough for your 21 year old to nap underneath. The older my kids get--that becomes my criteria. :) They have grown up snuffling under quilts and now that they are entering their late teens they still want a quilt to have for cold days, comfort on a bad day or to watch a movie and fall asleep under--but lap size is always too small for them these days. :)
Beautiful quilts ❤ I also have the Happy Go Lucky quilt to finish. I have only a few blocks left to make, then put it together. It’s beautiful. I finished my Tula Butterfly 2. It truly is gorgeous. I love her fabrics. I have a lot of works in progress, I’ve started dividing my quilts up into blocks of the month. I finish only one or two blocks a month, then put it away until the next month. I find I look forward to working on them, and don’t get overwhelmed or bored. Thank you for sharing.❤
Thank you. I love your suggestion for the doing a little every month. What a great suggestion. I think it's nice to have a few WIPs but maybe not as many as I have.
Hi I’ve only recently found your channel. I’m in Victoria, and it’s lovely to connect with another person in Australia. I am just about to start a Tula Pink Sew Along, with the Fat Quarter shop. It’s a Foundation Paper piecing one. Pushing me outside of my comfort zone. But I can’t wait.
Hi how are you. It's so nice to hear from another person in Australia I don't know many quilters but I love quilting and felt like I wanted to share and connect with other quilters all around the world including home so this is wonderful. I love that Tula pink quilt that the Fat Quarter shop are about to start doing. I have looked at it a few times but just haven't committed as yet. The colours in that quilt are incredible.
Hi thank you. I think I have a lot of dreams for the future. I tell my husband all the time I am setting myself up for retirement when I purchase more fabric and patterns.
Thank you so much for sharing with us all of your UFOs. They are all so nice that they need to be finished eventually, I am a bit like you, I start a project, and most of the time, I would get stuck in something, usually a change in the pattern or fabrics, so I put it a side until I am ready to tackle that part and it can be years before I get it out to work on it again. Maybe it will be nice to select one of those UFO projects every 2 months and work on that to get it done, and you can share with us so we can all get inspired 😊
Hiya that is a wonderful idea. It was mentioned to write them all down. Maybe the combination of writing them down and scheduling them in 2025 could be a way I can get them completed, I really want to finish them all and start new ones as well.
Thankful I found your channel! Your WIPs remind me of me😂😂😂 I love them all and can’t wait to get them done but yet, they’re still waiting!!!🤦♀️😂 “So much to do, so little time” 🧡💕♥️🧵
Hi, nice to see a West Aussie on TH-cam 😀 it looks like you follow a lot of the same people I do. I recently finished the butterfly quilt, those small curves are a little tricky. I have a few Lori Holt projects finished and /or planned. I finished a project with Simply Delightful fabric range from Sherri and Chelsea this week, it's a Curvy log cabin. I also have an EPP project underway, I have put it to one side but really need to pull it out again, it is relaxing to do. I appreciate your honesty in your video, good on you ☺️ Looking forward to seeing your progress with them all. Have fun 🌻
Thank You, How wonderful is that it sounds like our quilting taste is very similar. I will need to look up the curry log cabin as I haven't heard of that one before, (Thanks for the hint). It took me a long time to get the courage to start and EPP but it is the best thing I ever did I just love it.
First video of yours pop up in my feed today. I too quilted and then stopped to raise my children. Now that they are older I have started back to quilting, you look like you have more zest for getting back to quilting than I. 😊 Question, what is a gammel? Is it a brand name or a general name for a long arm machine in your country? Regarding the trip around the world quilt, no border! I love quilts without borders.
Hi I love craft it is really my happy place so I am so pleased to be back sewing again. A Gammill is a brand of longarm the model I have is a Classic Plus. I also have a Handi Quilter Amara a little smaller but she is so pretty. My Gammill is 20 years old but she works just beautifully I love watching my longarm at work. I am so pleased you have started back quilting again that is wonderful.
Will have to look at some of your videos, as I have Tula butterfly to do but I picked different fabrics so haven’t started have too many other wip😂 where in WA are you be handy to have a quilter as I don’t have a long arm which is really hard with big quilts😊
Hi. I would love to see our Tula butterfly when it's finished with the different fabrics it's such a pretty quilt. I live in South Australia and travel to and from Perth for work. When I am in Perth I am in the CBD. Always happy to do long arm quilting.
HI Thank You. I didn't know many Aussie quilters till I started TH-cam and I am so happy now that I have met so many through my channel. Where in Australia are you?
You just popped up in my feed and I’ve subscribed. I really enjoyed this I have quite a few wips I too get distracted by the shiny new oooh have to start. I have 6 tops that are complete I just need to baste and quilt. I do not enjoy basting. I’m always worried I won’t do a good job and the quilt will be ruined. ( yes I know I must work on that attitude) Thank you for showing I’m not alone.
Hi I am so pleased you shared that basting was always something that I worried about. The quilts are so beautiful and I know that feeling but I am super sure they will all be so beautiful.
Such pretty quilts! I have no experience with long arms, but would it be possible to use a really long basting stitch to temporarily add a border to your beautiful Trip quilt so see if you like the look, and easily remove if you don't? Can't wait to see them all finished. ps. I'm in Victoria and have actually purchased from your shop before. Everything arrived in great condition and exactly as described. Just wanted to let your other viewers know of my positive experience 💗
Thank you. I like your suggestion that is certainly something that I could try. Thank you for purchasing from my shop and I am so pleased it all arrived in great condition. I love my little shop with all my favourite designers. Quilting is so much fun. Thank you that warms my heart.
❤❤ thank you for sharing. It takes a great deal of courage to face your unfinished work and make a commitment to finish them. In our Quilt guild,, the challenge was to write down 3 to 5 quilts on a 3 x 5 card and posted in your quilting room. You wrote the same thing down on a second card and then it into our guild leaders. At the end of December you have. to show each of the quilts you finished, and your name goes in the drawing for each quoteyou finished. It is accountability and success, and we encourage each other. If you had a group of friends or Quilt guild,, you might like to do this as well give yourself several months and only pic of you that you know you can finish. I am like you and start a lot of new projects and have had to do a charity quilt and a baby quilt for a close friend. While continuing to finish wills. I Continue to get my subscription boxes of monthly banners and the sampler box, and I’ve had to put them on the shelf so that I can finish these others. I finished two banners, a charity quilt, a baby quilt, and Halloween quilt for my grandchildren this month.
Thank You. that is a lot of quilting in one month and all sounds so beautiful. I don't have a guild and working full time I seem to find it hard to find a group. I turned to TH-cam to fill connected with the community as I love all the comments and chatting with everyone all over the world. I quilt for a group of ladies that make charity quilts and I quilted about 8 for them this month and have another 10 I think sitting next to me to do next. I just love craft every project is so exciting from start to finish
I almost always add a border to finish a quilt. As long arm quilter I don’t like all those seams opening up during quilting. I do ask myself how big do I want the quilt to end up. I’m a finisher, some quilts are left unfinished because life gets in the way but I do go back and get them completed eventually .
I don’t think I’d put a border on that trip around the world. I have several wips I need to finish, including one that has sat there two years just needing a binding. Mental blocks are real obstacles.
I can relate to all that you saying. If it was me, I would finish your daughter's quilt top first. Make a list of which ones need the least down to the one that will require the most work. Give yourself a set time, even if it is just 30 minutes to work on it then walk away. If you feel you still have more time then continue. (I do little laps of swaying runs inside the house so I am not completely stagnant on the machine!). Then go down the list, one at a time until it is all finished. Working on the ones that require the least work will not require as much time as the ones that need the most work. Thank you very much for sharing.
Do you have a space to hang and look at the trip around the world ? So you can decide? You have so many I would vote to bind and move on. The Navy white Camille Ruskelly Quilt is my favourite, it's gorgeous. Ps have you written down your finished tops to quilt and wips to complete with details to help you keep track ?
No but I really should that is a wonderful idea. Some of them I totally forgot I had until I cleaned out the cupboards. I also found some amazing fabric that I am super excited to work with. I think you're right I should just bind and move on. I am normally so good at making a decision I am not sure why I am holding back.
Hi from QLD. Love to see an Aussie on TH-cam. I’d really like to continue watching your videos but I notice you say Um a lot. So much it distracted me from what you were saying. Hope to see more of you.

I always put on borders so I have a way to square it up before binding without cutting into the actual block.
