@@16bitdev I ended up figuring it out. The "skew" was not set correctly for some reason. Also gpuparticle2d is somehow still acting as though its 3d in a way that is different than cpuparticles2d. I have a Z axis and everything. Not sure whats up with that.

This seems to be already obsolete. The menu is way different now and changing the spread angle didnt not spread in all directions like yours.
