[lyrics]
Minor chords and major arcana
Little leather jacket and a black bandana
Kicking over trashcans and telling jokes in Atlanta
When I got the fever, it hit me like a fan
On the back of my hand I don't know who I am
But I'm free for nothing good for nothing too
Crazy to dream and still crazy about you
Won't you let me in one more time, babe I want to feel it too
Well nothing is a lie, babe if you know it ain't true
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Reparations now coming my way
Dues that I've recollected that I never paid
In the stained glass windows babe I feel the presence, oh yeah
But that don't mean I'm done with repentance so oh no
Gonna find another way to climb out of this basement
Gonna find out what that smile on your face meant
Like a thief that you borrow baby take a hold of me, take flight
And I want to do your bidding babe I want to steal away in the night
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Heart's on fire; so is the page
Everybody round here is telling me to act my age, I'm tryin'
Things are only revealed in the light that is given
Oh to be freed from the pardon when all else is forgiven
Rain outside is blowing in the curtains
Nothing is revealed but nothing is for certain
As I recall you was drinking from the sanctuary wine
Well don't worry baby we'll find all of our lost time
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
As I recall you were standing there, you was holding your rosary beads
Everyone around here seems to think he knows what he needs
Seven ugly reasons kept me away from you then
Nothing is much weaker than the resolve of most men
I remember when we was alone in your room
Staring out your window we knew you'd be going soon
And I was so young babe I hope that you knew that I meant well
And when I looked in your eyes I thought I knew you could tell
Now I'm blown back from the cemetery gates
You whom I loved dearly now I must wait
To be reunited in the sky when it opens
Well my feet are so tired baby but my spirit ain't broken
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now

What a song for this moment in my life.
172 thumbs up after and 6 years later how's your moment right now?
Discovered this track a few weeks before my partner of 26 years was diagnosed with cancer and died 19 days later. We had moved to live near the dunes. So utterly moving and the soundtrack to our separation by death and the hope of being reunited by the sky when it opens.
Love
I played this for my mom in the hospital before she passed away. She loved it and now every time I hear it I think of her. Thank you, Leif, for creating such a beautiful song.
Cathy M what a wonderful bridge for you and your mom. The Power of music combined with the Power of love - and time - helps us so much more then we usually are aware of. Take care and stay strong. And sometime when you are down, here is a motivation.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I felt your comment! My condolences for your lost.
This is possibly my most favourite song of my entire life. Thank you Leif for creating this.
This song is so, so, so painfully beautiful.
Sometimes fate just draws you towards an artist or song and you just feel every note and lyric. Fate is on my side for this one
Marc Davey what happend to me today! First time i heard this song and read that name :) Blessed!
Marc Davey fate? You're deluded. We make our own fate.
Jed the Jew , yeah deluded buddy lol. Keep trucking

I’ve loved this song for a long time now. It’s such a moving tribute to surrender and complexity. Whenever I am faced with some uncertainty (which never ends) the song reminds me of the grace I can bring to any situation.
I rarely drop comments. But I feel I have to here. I just can't stop putting this on repeat. It's probably been 3, 4 hours. Rarely been so touched. I am moved by this song. The video is a great addition to it too.
There's a slight touch of groove in both the music and his voice. The melancholy is shared with prudishness, reserve. I'd even say with class. It is both a song recalling times gone with a certain sadness, a certain fondness, whilst looking to the next page with an open heart. With hope. A smile on one's face.
Such hard things to convey in the right amounts.
The first line of his lyrics is a truly brilliant summary of his piece. Inspired.
Hopefully my comment does it justice
06Bartos trank you so much for your so true words. I am with you in every letter. Take care, let us be aware of each moment everytime, except the moments we are too much human to be humbly - but still trying.

Great critique for a great song...sonically inspiring and lyrically beautiful. I echo your sentiments in your comment...I'm gonna Check him out in Manchester on the 30th of April...can't wait ✌
The love I have for this song has no ends. This has been my escape from so many hard moments in my life.
My father passed away not long ago... and has left a hole in my life and a pain that that I cant seem to fully to grasp or move through. I wept when I heard this song for the first time... as it seemed to lift emotions from within that I cant articulate or understand... but for whatever reason this music drew them out and allowed me to breath again... even for a brief moment. thankyou Leif.
My heart goes out to anyone who "disliked" this song and video; one day you'll experience a collision of vulnerability and hope that leads you back here for an understanding of it all.
Anyone who disliked this is just afraid to cry ... maybe they will overcome it one day.
Congrats Leif!! I remember our lunches in elementary school! your voice is amazing!
Incredibly haunting and so beautiful. What grief feels like...plunging into the water to wash the pain away.
I heard the song 4 weeks ago- I do obsess when I hear a lyric a voice ... must have listened...over 500x - so beautiful, so scary , so much pain... love it ... thank god for music
one of the most dramatically beautiful and exciting songs I've ever heard. Masterpiece.
Glad Im not alone.
Who else is in love with prefectly timed double snare?? ♥️

Nitesh Bajracharya back of my head
Johanna Vargas yes man thanks for the effort!
Nitesh Bajracharya Minor chords and major arcana. It's an amazing opening line
When music & poetry beautifully collide.
This song is like a diamond that you know will stay in your heart for a lifetime.
watched this with my wife. she thought it was weird, and i was blown away by it. you can just tell that he feels his music. it's inspiring.
Everyone has different taste but glad you enjoyed it!
Why did she think it was weird? Thinking this video is weird is kinda weird
This is heartbreaking. This is art.
Lovesick
THIS is truly IT! Sounds like cutting out a piece of beauty and putting it together in a shimmering frame of light. How I love this song, how I love this music! Thank you, Leif! So much!
Just thought of this song and here am I listening. Not quite sure how to describe how I am feeling. Just realizing that I still have so much more to learn in this life. Life is truly beautiful. Life is not just about feeling good all the time. It’s the whole life experience and the range of feelings that makes life priceless. Sending you love and hope ❤️
The studio version is liberating and truly equivalent to any live one (heard him live and it was awesome). Perfectly produced as well. The sparingly used bass strikes me. Lyrics full of mysticisms. 35 years of active listening to songs have me acknowledge that this is one of the 5 best ones
He dances like a free spirit, or like a spirit trying to free itself through singing this song.
I’m in love with this song

I was here
I visited Takoradi in 2002 - would love to know how it's changed in 20 years
every comment on here seems to be like “ I listened to this song, got obsessed with it and listened to it for weeks straight, a million times” that’s completely and totally what happened to me!! i mean for MONTHS i listened to this whole album several times PER DAY- i was so obsessed. so unique, so beautiful. this had never happened to me before with a song, nevertheless an album. i don’t think i’ve fallen in love with music as deep and quickly as i did with this.
some songs just have it, ya know? that thing. that bug. that uniqueness that draws people in. that flame that grabs you by your hands and leads you to a beautiful addiction. these are the songs that matter. these are the songs that stand out.
look at the comments. that is proof.
Glad to hear you love it Elli!
Gosh, I've been listening to this song for two weeks straight. Everyone in my clique is absolutely delighted. Incredible Job Leif, can't wait for the release!
Heard this for the first time driving back from Ottawa. Didn't catch the artist's name but knew I loved the song. Spent a day tracking it down. Absolutely amazing song. Hope to see him live someday. Congratulations!
just saw him play in montreal...hope you can catch a show...
from the moment he said 'well nothing is a lie babe if you know it aint true' I got this satisfying smile om my face that held for the rest of the song... :)
SystemExclusive what does this line mean exactly?
@@xbtjex I interpret it as one of them dying in the song ("knowing you'll be gone soon") and you often tell them "you're going to be well" etc despite you both knowing this is the end. This song has tons of good lines with amazing imagery.
The background sunset and the dance to the sea: you can see the pain and at the same time it symbolises the wash away of is pain and the promise of a new day
Since the moment I heard this song for the first time, I just can't stop listen to it... This beautiful feeling of ultimate freedom and lightness...
What a song, what a voice, what a vibe.
I know I've never heard this song before, but it has that familiar comforting quality - like it's a part of me. So beautiful. I've had it on repeat for weeks.
I'm speechless. I've never heard so beautiful and bittersweet song like this. And the video is hypnotic. Wow!
looks so nice to be out on that beach. I think ive listened to this song like 200 times the past month
Love the song and dancing. So freeing and refreshing
Wow. He is a real musical find! Love him! And boy he has the moves.
Just saw Leif live in London. Awesome! He really changed up some of the songs to great effect. There was so much soul in his performances. I can't wait for him to come back. I only hope I get the chance to see him in such an intimate setting again. I feel blessed tonight. Oh! And we provided the bassline to Elegy. Nice touch Leif.
I can't believe this only record 552.186 visits, this is something new and special. the world is crazy. Your not in the wrong moment. Im sure you are gonna kick it. its a pity the people doesn't pay attention in this opus

Amazing! Which NPR station were you listening to?
Bought this record after hearing him play in a workshop at Calgary Folk Music Festival. This song is amazing! Sad I missed his full show. Amazingly talented musician!
Man, I love this track. Leif is so damn good. Just caught him in NYC at a sold out show in December. Very memorable.
Never get tired of this song. Sometimes I just play on repeat. Hits me in the center of my soul ❤️
Ditto To every positive acknowledgement about this artist. I just spent about an hour in my search history to find this song. And I will add, hauntingly beautiful art.
This is so good how have I managed to be unaware of this great voice for so long? Late to the party as usual story of my life.❤❤❤
I wish I could still show you music. I’d show you this song.
“Elegy” is such a gorgeous song-telling your own story or so it seems. Still in anguish, but awaiting the eventual reunion.

Buddy stole my entire Dance routine.
Dave Thomas yo
The best songs are the ones that ambush you in that gap between when they come on and where you are mentally. The last time I felt the way this song made me feel (yesterday @ 4pm) was when I heard Johnny Cash sing "Hurt" by NIN. You just pull over, close your eyes and let the tears fall.
Lost, lost in the reverie....what a song.
Absolutely stunning Leif! Keep doing you! So happy to hear from you again!
Makes me cry every time!
All night sedans led me here and I'm not mad at it...just mad that he doesn't have more u.s. west coast appearances 😧 until then I will binge watch his vids and enjoy his magicialness blessing my soul.

Omg, it’s Leif! I remember... this one time.. at outreach camp... it’s not band camp (inside joke) but, you sometimes meet the most beautiful souls! Wonder if he still remembers how to sign the alphabet....
what a gem
Literally Life-Changing Song
on repeat, so beautiful
This is brilliant and truly beautiful, so calming yet at the same time makes me want to dance around excitably. Love it!
To my old self from my new self. All the things you banged on me about are gone. I’ve totally erased myself from myself. And now this is the new me. Take a Look at me now. I’m glittered in gold. I’m famous. I’m everything you couldn’t be. I’m .............:,...... Truth is, I just wanted to be accepted for who I was, but that wasn’t good enough for society. Anyway, great seeing you again. Say hi to the parents.
Brilliant song!
This speaks to my soul.
Most beautiful song
