Learn about the history of the Carson City Mint. The Mint began pressing gold and silver coins in 1870, and created an economic boom as one of the city's largest employers. Both men and women worked at the mint, which was responsible for 50 issues of silver coins and 57 issues of gold coins until it ceased operations in 1893.
