I remember the old Union South - a lightless, brutalist concrete slab, featuring two restaurants - "Einstein's" which specialized in burritos, nachos and stir frys all smothered in the word's bitterest onions, and the Red Oak Grill, a "fast food" restaurant where $2 got you a hockey-puck of a cheeseburger, a 16oz syrupy soda, and a sack of limp fries, served to you by sardonic english majors. My liver still hasn't fully recovered from eating those regularly...
Entertaining review, great to see higher quality choices on campus. Also, since it was brought up, whether appropriate or not in a food review, the 2 main reasons that students today *don't* have it "way better" now than back 15-18 yrs ago, is because 1) the national economy which hasn't improved under the national & state leadership, & 2) professors unions & assoc's. caring more about tenure, salaries & benefits than the ridiculous amounts of student loan debt put on the backs of students.
Hell yes we do. You should come down to Purdue sometime and check out our Union. Helluva bigger variety...though it does have a Starbucks, which still makes me sad.
Was about to make a post about how we have it so well... then you mentioned the economy which does involve the overly inflated education bubble! Well done.
Holy moly that is some CHEAP food! I'm a college freshman this year, and dinner costs us on average $9 to $12, and the food is largely bland. To make matters worse, we don't have the traditional buffet-style dining halls, but instead a-la-carte ordering systems.
How can you call yourself a serious food critic when you've been born into a food environment that screams "EAT CHEESE" any chance it gets into your face?

How old are you? o_O Fifteen years? I took you for 25 or something.
If a pizza slice like that is only $2.75 there's total third world obesity in it if you happen to have some spare $100 bills on you.
O.o
