What time of year do you recommend doing this? I just bought a house that has one that’s got to be over seven feet tall. I don’t really want her to get much taller than that however. I’m located in zone 6a.
@@Shravanidakeens1178The place I bought had 8 alongside the house- a small house! And right up against the house too. They kept them like a short hedge and they looked great, but I didn't get a how-to manual from them about the garden, unfortunately, and they took over. Dealing with it still this year. 😅
You butchered it. I think you were the one that was out of control! "Im going to remove the branches that go down, out, over, across, up, in between & beneath. Next video, diy #stump removal
😂 That's funny. It will be just fine. These things are like weeds (literally--they are considered invasive in 4 states). It will bounce back no problem. I'll post a follow-up next summer!
I didn't know they grew that HUGE! 😮 I have one and now I'm thinking maybe I should move it.
Exactly what that plant needs. It’s so aggressive-you have to be aggressive back!
They now sell dwarf hibiscus plants by PW. I have a lil Kim hibiscus which only gets 4’x3’. Very ideal for small gardens.
I wanted one but my garden is small, thankfully I can enjoy my neighbors 😅
My goodness! I never knew they got this huge!
Yup!
What’s the height on it?
Oh my how satisfying 😂
Wow that's a huge tree !! Mine is growing from a cutting and is a small bush at the moment.
#carnage 😂 I always wait for that one lol
😂
I like them big!!
I can't believe they get this big lol I'm starting to regret where i planted it 😂

I didn’t realize you can cut a tree in the middle of a branch like that! Is that like topping off?
What time of year are you doing this type of pruning ❤. I’m in Ontario Canada. Should I do mine now ? It’s October. Thanks
These things are like weeds (literally--they are considered invasive in 4 states) so it's probably fine to do it now. This was in late September.
Yes! I’ve hacked at mine every time of year and they’ve never skipped a beat. So weedy. I can’t believe the previous owner planted 6!

@@possumfriend2335 completely understand the struggle
I have 4, 3 are healthy, I guess, and a bit out of control, but the one in my front yard is now about 3/4 dead. Is there anything I can do?
Try cutting it way down. It should bounce back but they need sun so if that's the issue you may want to try to move it if it's not too big.
Mine is just two 8 inch trunks and maybe 20 feet high. What do I do?
Wow! Try pruning them way down to about one foot off the ground and start again.
Hi could you tell me what brand is your prunning shear or what brands you recommend? Thank you so much.
I think orange and black means it’s Fiskars brand.
Correct reply below
They get size of small tree? I thought they were bushes
They can get HUGE. But they can also be pruned way back.

😂 Your right she is a butcher she has no clue. She almost demolished that poor tree.
I have no love for these plants. I got wild glee from seeing you chop this rose of Sharon back. I think you could keep going!
And its dead
Honestly, I do not like those horrid things. I didn't purcase one or plant one but I dig them off my property every year. Ugh! Grrr
You ruined it
Nope. These things are like weeds. I've done the same thing to the ones at may house several times and they bounce back.
No, it will come back quickly
