Worth noting, an SL on the listen side of a switch is like toggling listen on all ports assigned to that SL. This can be done both by entering the name of the SL in listen or via special functions. If you don’t want it to be an SL listen, gotta make it null. Your two main examples are my two most common uses for them, the tape room and EIC. In some cases where the system is being changed constantly for different shows, I’ve made all point to point switches on panels as SLs with common production names like DIR or TD, and left the ports labeled with generic labels like panel locations (P1-1, or W/L1) for when I have systems that need to be super flexible and positions change on a regular basis. So I might have a bunch of SLs with only one member in this case. By doing this, I can use a pretty standard comm panel layout, and easily swap things out on all panels by editing the SLs. It may not work in all cases, but it’s handy when it’s a case that makes sense
