  • Discussed in this video:
1- Why was this story mentioned only once in the Quran, contrary to most stories of the Quran that are mentioned many times throughout the Quran?
2- This story took place approx 55 days before the birth of our beloved Prophet Salla Allaahu Alayhi Wasalam, what is the secret relationship between the two event?
3- What valuable life lesson can we learn form the Elephant?
4- The story of the Elephant begins from the rule of the oppressive king, Dhu Nuwaas that dug the trenches and burnt 20,000 believers in one day (Ashaab Al-Ukhdood) till the day Allah foiled the plot of Abraha and destroyed him and his army by showering upon them stones carried by birds.
**STORY OF THE ELEPHANT IN BRIEF**
This event in history took place almost 55 days before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), as though it was an introduction to his birth.
Abraha Al-Ashram was the governor of Yemen on behalf of the king of Ethiopia. He built a massive Church in Yemen and called the Arabs to perform the pilgrimage there instead of the Kabah in Makkah, with the intention of diverting the trade and benefits from Makkah to Yemen.
Then a man from Makkah went there and vandalized it by relieved himself in it, then soiled its walls and went away.
When Abrahah was informed of that, he prepared a massive army to demolish the Kabah. Among the army were elephants.
So that army proceeded and none among the Arab tribes that tried to stop them except was killed and defeated, till Abrahah approached near Makkah.
Negotiations took place between Abrahah and the chief of Makkah (Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim, the grandfather of the Prophet), and it was concluded that Abrahah would proceed with the demolition of the Kabah.
Abdul Muttalib ordered the people of Makkah to evacuate the city and go to the top of the mountains in case some harm should come to them from the invading oppressors.
The army moved towards Makkah till they reached valley Muhassir where the elephants refused to advance forward, suddenly Allah sends flocks of birds, flocks after flocks, air-raiding that army with small stones slightly bigger than a lentil seed.
There never fell a stone on a soldier except it dissolved his flesh and burst it into pieces. So they perished with a total destruction. Abrahah managed to flee away while his flesh was bursting into pieces till he died upon his arrival to Yemen.
Such was the victory bestowed by Allah to the people of Makkah and such was the protection provided by Him for His House.
